Pissing you off is the ONLY thing they are good at. At everything else they fumble.

No need to change the filter as long as its looks to be in good shape (which it should be). Just wash it well with petrol. Make sure they use original new gaskets. See that the job is done with minimal contamination of the insides. I guess these are the main things you should keep more than an eye on.

Please try and take pics. And make a note of what kinda crap is on both the filters... can give an idea about things...

          • ^^ how much for the synthetic oil ? ?

did you ask him if they are planning for an oil grade 10w30 for cbz and the likes ... the thing that i've heard is this grade is only by hh guys ... perhaps it could be so that the customers stick only to the stock oil .. but i may be wrong though

            • problem with my cbz-xtreme

              hi guys,
i have a long unattended problem with my cbz-xtreme. the engine dies down if the bikes passes through wet road(enuf to splash water on the engine). and during rains i have to struggle to keep the engine goin by throttling it to the max at low gears but it dies down again after certain distance of travelling.but no such issues during other season.with the monsoons coming i have to get this fixed. anyone had similar issues with their bike got it resolved? i am unable to understand if its a shorting of the ignition or engine problem help needed!
              thanks

it might be due to the hanging pipes under the bike, water might have get in to them. Try by pulling them up and make sure they dont get submerged into the water...I am not sure ...but worth a try I guess.

Found the solution in the orkut community...
"a pipe.... itz situated on the right side of the engine near the kick starter just behind the race adjustment knob...... so next time ur bike stops in rain, just unplug tht pipe...... the problm will be solved...... replug the pipe when u get back to dry conditions...... "

What exactly does the stuff on the CF and mesh look like? Sludge?? Sorry, but can't make out well from the pics. Sludge... that would be really surprising since you are using synthetic oil! Whats your drain period? Perhaps you are using it for a bit too long?

Its not like they have to plan for it! They just import it!! And I have no idea why they import grades like 5W40 and 15W50 and all, which are not recommended for any Indian bike! And they do have 5W30, 20W50 and 10W40 in fully synth and even 10W40, 10W30 in Technosynthese. Why the hell can't they import the grades that we really need??

I'd really like to use the imported 10W30 Technosynthese, as it will be more sanely priced than the currently available fully synthetics.

Nope i have no plans to use that grade ever in my xtreme.I think they changed grade to get more mileage out of the machine and neglected engine life .Well thats just me and i may be wrong.

I have never cleaned the CF before and my bike has done 15000+kms.The thing on CF/sludge was like a fine clay like the powder girls use (multani mitti) .Remember i started using synthetic oil (Motul) only @ 10000kms before that i was using castrol "Synthetic" oil .The particles in the oil filter did not look like metals to my untrained eyes. They looked solid though and their was some hair like thing too.The mech. said the oil was good for another 1000Km at least (He thought it was cp1r).It was brown in colour with a slight grreenish coating unlike CP1R which has turned black by 4000kms.

Yep these synthetic stuff are expensive.I heard Motul 10W 40 called 4T sport is even better than Motul 5W 40.Why not you call them and tell you need motul 10W 30 fully synth in india. The reson i say this cause the officials told me if they get more enquiries they take those things seriously.

When i took delivery of my bike the mech @ SC told me this exact problem was present in the old xtreme and laughed. He said Lot of old xtreme customers had heart attacks thinking their new ride was messed up he said something about a tube too.No its not a major problem do not worry.

If you think CBZ-X and Hunk are outdated, then what do you have to say for the Unicorn? If you think that way, you are bound to remain confused and never be able to decide. I suggest you see what suits you best from the available options, rather than worring whats outdated. What is newer, tho it may look glamorous and have more functions isn't necessarily better in terms of quality, reliability, etc. And anyway, all the puny bikes available in india are way outdated by global standards, anyway...

Dude, its not quite that simple. A lot of HH's have done pretty high mileage running the recommended 10W30. Thicker oil does *NOT* necessarily mean better lubing in modern engines. In fact, the reverse may well be noticed in the longer run. I would seriously suggest you use the recommended grade only, if/when available. This is even more true when you use a true fully synthetic oil like Motul. I have already written to Motul. Suggest you and others write too. Will PM you the email ids. In my case, I'm interested in the imported 10W30 Motul 5100 Technosynthese, as it will be cheaper... I'm not ready to spend 750 bucks at each oil change.

Was the stuff really solid? Or did it like break down when pressed a bit? You would be able to tell only if you feel it with your fingers.

How on earth do these mechanics know if the oil will be good for x more km, remains a mystery to me.

Errr... what do you exactly mean? Of course 10W30 would be available internationally. In fact the trend is towards thinner oils for both cars and bikes. In fact even thinner. Even in India Maruti now uses 5W30 for SX4.

or, you can say, Hero Honda's never get out dated... (pun, gun and fun intended)

You need not bother about such things especially if that model has sold well! All the problems come in when you seek exclusivity (see my avatar pic and you'll know what I mean!).

he was telling me that this grade is not a regular grade in the international arena ...

i would definitely try out the technosynthetic imported one if available ...

also i read somewhere that its better to stick to either fully synthetic or mineral oil rather than semisynthetic or technosynthetic ... is that true ??

i really don't remember where i read but it was some biking site ..
