Thogh the Saluto is all set to take the SS125's place and is well capable of doing so, the light weight and low power figures of the Saluto does not make many people comfortable. Specially who want to take long rides on a lower capacity bike. But, the Gladiator/SS125 will retain a special place for people who have a little idea about this bike. Feeling sad as a proud SS125 owner!
That is sad. I don't think the Saluto can take this place with just 4 gears and no disc brake. The lack of 5th gear will be missed in the long rides and the disc brake in the city rides.
Edit: Also the fuel capacity is considerably low. Hope the claimed fuel efficiency is close in real life utility.

After 3 years and 5 months my SS125 has clocked 55000 kms at >52kmpl. Still on stock tubes and tyres (with a puncture on each), have to change them soon. Have to change the speedo unit: the error margin in odo is too large. After my last punctur), the front wheel is jumping. Checked the tyre, but can't find any bumps.

And an important news: Got a pillion for life (27 Aug) and she likes my bike very much

Change the tubes and the issue should vanish. Sometimes its not possible to rectify faults in the tire & rim by naked eyes.

And hearty congratulations for your life partner.

Many happy returns and Congratulations on the occasion.
On a different note please consider changing the wheels asap : Its outright risky to run on a rubber that's 55K old now that you have additional responsibility and safety to look after.

Has anyone changed the engine oil from stock Yamalube to anything else?
Yamalube is doing fine till now but I want to try other options as well.

P.S. Recently went to the Sunderbans with my mother as pillion covering more than 210 km.s in a day(at least 110 km.s of which are in worst condition). She has liked the pillion comfort so much that now she refuses to go by train and bus. That says a lot about the comfort a Gladiator offers!

[b]My dad's friend is a Castrol dealer and I have been using Castrol 20w40 since after my last paid service (skipped all the later free services).[b]

[b]That says volume about the comfort that our bikes give. I am not sure if Saluto can give the same level of comfort.[b]

Ironically, my back is aching since last Thursday, but I am sure that is not because of the bike. The roads are a nightmare to drive since after the phenomenal rain (Chennai, Nov 25 - Dec 2). The 20 to 21km ride used to take around 50 minutes. Now it takes 70 to 90 minutes.

That should not happen at all. You fork could be damaged or possibly the bike frame. You have to check with your mechanic.

Must be just an alignment issue. Just get the alignment checked by ur mechanic. If still persists check your steering cone.

                    Update us after that.

Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I am a proud owner of Yamaha Gladiator SS125 from 2011, bought as a second-hand though. The machine is really performing well without disappointing me. But i feel the rear tyre could be little wider. Now its time for me change shoes for my gladiator and i am thinking of upgrading to 100/90-18 in the rear(which is Honda Unicorn tyre size). I tried searching the forum but unable to find sticky solution to this. Did anyone upgraded to 100/90-18 rear tyre in their gladiator? FYI, i am a sedate driver with not quick cornering and rash driving. Also i am not concerned about mileage too. Will it affect performance or stability of the vehicle? Experts please provide your feedback?.

Hi friends, I've done 33K km.s on my 2012(Nov) SS-125. Is it time to change the battery and the tyres? Please suggest whether a 7sh Amaron/Exide battery would fit or not. And also, what is the widest tubeless tyre(preferably MRF Zapper) that I can have at the rear? If anyone has done the same please suggest.

If you ride sedately then stick to stock size. Else next size upgrade is 80/100 & 90/90 after that. 100/90 is too much imo. And 'hunt' for the best model to feel satisfied for next 15-20k kms

Yes it is time to change tyres Im sure.
Front - ceat 2.75-18 zoom ( tread design equivalent to mrf zapper fs )
Rear - dont know of the model names but try for one close to stock size. Like suggested above -- 80/100 & 90/90
When I had bought (8 months back) 3.00-18 zapper c was available, so check for that too.

Thanks curve_king for your suggestion. I tried to check 80/100 & 90/90 tyres, unfortunately not able to find one. Do you have any idea which brand of tyre have this specification. Does MRF or Michelin have this? Also i need a clarification here, is that 80/100 and 100/80 tyre size same? I am really confused in choosing the tyre size for rear. In fact i asked about 100/90 as that was suggested by my mechanic.

                              Please suggest.

                                100/80 & 80/100 is very different.

80/100 - honda shine rear (mrf)
80/100 - ceat milaze or secura m86 one of them ( don't remember the exact name )

90/90 is tough but 1/2 bikes do have them. Last I had read one of those specs was a pirelli .
But I couldn't stress this enough - 'keep searching'.
                                Search on snapdeal too.

P.S - 100/90 from 3.00 seems a big jump. All of that pickup would seem to vanish.
