No mod, it was stock... 110kmph is very attainable in SS. Though it can't hold this speed for long time. But I did touch that....Originally posted by Ri$hi View Post

I have owned a Honda Stunner in the recent past which I sold out. Had to sell it since I was relocating to a new city. Also, I was not happy with the performance of the Stunner since it vibrated a lot even after a sprocket mod.
I would like to know if the SS 125 is vibration free till 70 Kmph (since that is normally the speed I ride at) and if the build quality on that bike is good enough to qualify as a Yamaha.
Anything else that you guys may know of, pls share with me.
Thanks.
If I am not mistaken, the SS125 is nothing but the Gladiator Type-SS with a new color scheme and without the Gladiator brand. So everything remains unchanged except the Stickering/Colors.
BTW how was your experience with the Stunner? One of my old-time friends wants to go in for a Honda 125 cc, mainly for the engine refinement, and he has shortlisted a Stunner (prefers the Stunner over the Shine for the sporty looks). Can u post a small review?Last edited by bbsrailfan; 03-28-2012, 02:01 PM.

Although I couldn't make it to Coorg, nevertheless had a nice one-day trip to Marikuppam via Bangarpet. Total Odo: 275 Km. Top Speed: 95 km/h on double riders (checked on gps, 100 kph on speedo). Cruising Speed: 80kph constant. Mileage: 55 kpl (doubles). Will be putting up some pics shortly.Originally posted by prashanth lobo View PostJust fill it up. Do all the necessary basic checks. Break whenever you need a break. Its usually the rider who'll need a break more than the bike. 60 sounds like a decent speed to ride at. You can push up till around 80. After that its just not too pleasurable to ride for a long distance. Too much engine noise. So you will feel stressed. Please do wear a helmet and riding gear if you have it. Enjoy your ride! Come back with some good pics
No issues with the bike throughout the journey but sometimes it was spluttering when revved beyond 7000rpm (sounded as if fuel was over). Lowered the revs to 5000 rpm for a few seconds and everything was fine again. Maybe an air filter block?

Thanks guys for your inputs...will go for SS 125 then!!Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostThe bike is extremely stable at high speeds, no vibrations at all. 70~80 kmph is the sweetest spot the bike loves to be in. The pickup of the bike is not so great but its not at all bad when compared to other 125cc bikes. The acceleration all depends on the rider.
Top speed 110km thats great. Did you do any mod? I have only managed to touch 100 on my bike at any given point of time and different riding conditions.
I have always managed to get an avg mileage of ~65km/l with some sane riding. The worst being 53 and the best being 73 until I recently let my bike see a new owner a couple of days back. Wished my bike and her new owner all the best and happy miles together.

Hi Fellas,
Its been a long time since I wrote a post. Been busy around. Coming to glady talk now, the sad part is that I haven't been able to ride it since the last 5 months. Out of station now a days. The bike is parked at home and I know how its eroding.
I have it covered with a bike cover but there isn't any covered parking at my place, so its there in the drive way. Plan to get it serviced if I am going for a weekend break.
Also I am planning to get the bike with me to Jamshedpur(project place) from Kolkata(home). 300kms only is tempting me to drive it along. What say guys! or should I simply load it on the train. Do suggest!! And the checks required before hand.
Also anybody done this stretch recently, how is the status!
CEE YA GUYS

Very strange. Problem with the fuel? Clogged fuel line?Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostI recently had a short ride last evening appox 124 kms. I was doing 80 constantly and managed to touch the top speed. While returning back home I found that there is a lag in the throttle response and its not smooth(like its running out of fuel). However didn't find anything this morning while riding in the city. What could be the possibilities?

I am planning my first ever long-distance trip on my Bike to Coorg and Back, covering 750 KM in 2 days. I will be starting early morning from Bangalore and reaching next evening, spending 1 night at Madikere.
What all do I need to check with my bike before i start? (Apart from oil levels, tyre pressure and electricals)
Will I need to have a intermediate check during the trip? If so, what all do i need to keep a check on?
This is my first long-distance trip on my bike and I am planning to have a slow-and-steady trip (not exceeding 60kph) with breaks in between. Some bike tips?

Nothing much, just do a general service well before the trip.Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostGuys!!! I am planning my first ever long-distance trip on my Bike to Coor
You can use 80% of the speed, ie if the top speed of the bike is 100 you can cruise as 80kmph, take enough butt breaks, which will allow the engine to cool down. Read it somewhere here posted by oldfox.
Also go through the following link.

Thanks.Originally posted by Ri$hi View PostDid You install the spark plug which is recommended in the manual?
The recommended one is NGK CR7HSA
The possibilities could be:
1. The bike is running too lean
2. Clogged jets
3. Incorrect gapping of the spark plug
4. Dirty air filter
5. Clogged fuel lines
Thats all I can think of. Seniors did I miss something?
Ride the bike for few kms and remove the sparkplug and check the color. The color should be dark tan.
I will see asap what the mechanic has put for spark plug.
Bike never had this issue until I got the new spark, so something going on with the plug. Will update if I find out something.
Recently did I changed my air filter. Its a paper type. I will clean it though. Will update the post then.Originally posted by bbsrailfanI used to face that issue too. No longer present after I changed my air filters.

I used to face that issue too. No longer present after I changed my air filters.Since then the bike while on the run seems to turn off the oil supply suddenly (don't know how to put it), same feeling you have when your bike hits reserve. I have filled almost 5 liters of petrol also and driven, the issue comes up intermittently. Its like the bike is choking on something. There is also no drop in pickup and accelerates well.
Thanks for the info. Will visit another mech on my way back todayWell those groves are for the adjustment of shocker only (softness). Go to another mech & ask him to adjust the shocker to softer position. Its an easy job. Any mech knows it.
BTW Which setting keeps an ideal balance between soft and firm? Mine is on the 2nd groove and it feels too firm.
