Valve cover gasket needs change, Or use Anabond sealant over the gasket and reassemble.
Post picture exactly where it leaks.. hope it is from the topmost cover

Thanks to dude_creative who encouraged me to do the centrifugal filter cleaning.

I have not performed this in the last 48500+ Kms.

All i need was a couple of size spanners (11 & 13 maybe) to loosen the clutch wire, size 10 spanner (or 12) to remove the kick start lever, size 8 T spanner to remove the clutch side case, a lineman's plier, new gasket, blade or a flexible knife to remove the existing gasket and sealbond (rubber paste). I had to remove the foot rest as well so that I don't have any hindrance.

Also my Unicorn started smoking (sometime black and sometime white) with reduction in oil level. I now have to replace oil every 1000 Kms

Even after tappet adjustment, i could hear a loud tak tak noice during startup. I did a rebore-valve replacements only at 37000 odd kms.

Mechanic is suggesting to open the bore again. I will wait till the bike reaches 50000 and check the bore.

      Thats all for now.

      Cheers,
      Anand

19000 is way to early unless you ripped your bike hard and also did not service it on time. 3 of the other unicorn's which i know of had the same issue at 30000 kms.

When enquirer about Unicorns engine, a couple of mechanic told all the honda engines fail at same KM mark.

Guys, what is the clutch change interval for unicorn ? When did most of you change the clutch.

Mine has started become hard and I guess it's due for a change. Bike has done approx 96K KM so far.

Depends on how we ride the bike.

My bike's clutch & gear still feels new and gear changes happen with a click.

I have friends who have chagned clutch plates twice within 50000 Kms.

As you have covered 96K kms, you can go ahead and change.

                Hello fellow Unicorn owners:

My Unicorn has completed 15 thousand kilometers and as per schedule the air filter needs to be changed.

How much should a new viscous air filter cost? I need an approximate cost so that the shop doesn't rip me off.

I am also planning to get it serviced, get an oil change, get the chain tightened and lubed, get some nulon etc.

Any other things that need to be done at the 15K mark? Do i need to get my carburetor opened and cleaned?

Please avoid Nulon. It will eventually cause more tolerance in cylinder.

I think air filter within 150/-. The MRP will be written on the box/packet. Pay accordingly.

Dont open carb unnecessarily. Only if your face problems like low pickup/mileage/jerking.

For engine oil, get Shell Advance AX7 10W40 1 litre. costs 370/-. amazing oil. See the difference

Can you please elaborate on this? What does "more tolerance in cylinder" mean? And what effects does it have on the performance and health of engine?

I had issues with jerking, i tuned the carb to a richer mixture and although the jerking problem is gone, the mileage has reduced to 42. Is 42kmpl okay for a Unicorn?

Unicorn manual says it uses 10W30 oil. In any case, when switching from mineral to synthetic oil, do i need to flush the engine of my Unicorn?

I own an unicorn, based on my experience. Nulon can cause clutch slippage or improper coating on piston, hence failure. Why do you want to take such risks.

Please dont flush. Never add any additives inside your engine. It can prove real dangerous. Shell AX7 is a semi synthetic oil. It is very good. Just drain old oil out & pour new AX7 in.

In that case you may remove the carb completely, & dismantle it completely, clean the jets, float chamber, all passages with pressure air.

screws of carburetor will be tight, please use good quality & high torque screw driver with accurate bit. Also buy a new Air screw kit. It costs 75/-. Just remove the old air-fuel screw, remove the rubber o-ring, & install the new one.

Tune the carb to 3 full 360 degree turns. Your bike will be like new

Thanks, will try all those recommendations. How much mileage does your Unicorn give? And does it also have a Keihin carb?

I sold my Uni, it used to give 45kmpl because I used to ride hard.

Yep Xtreme, Hunk, & Unicorn come with Keihin carb. Unicorn has 26mm outlet, whereas Xtreme & hunk have 28mm outlet.

I guess maybe the carb needs complete cleaning. It will solve all issues.

Also remove the spark plug & post a picture of that, we can analyze the situation.
