Hi Sanket, if you scroll through the older posts you'll get to know the reasons. There're people who warned me 100 times before buying this bike but I did not listen and jumped into garbage bin. Obviously I feel it's my duty to warn others as much as I can. End of the day it's your decision. I live the V twin power and torque and that's it. Everything else is a joke. Shock absorber will fail when u carry pillion on hard riding, Ignition coil will get rusted and busted every now n then , Injector may fail, Odometer will go kaput... etc etc. I'll suggest you open up the seats and peep into the internals. you'll get your answer. Obviously if you only use it for weekend joy rides then it's fine. But if you want to ride hard then I'm not sure. It's not the bike I hate, It's the company with its cheap mentality more the Indian partner than the Korean. And once you enter service center for maintenance only God can help you. Because the charges will put a litre class bike to shame. Anyways ignore me if possible and ride safe whatever you aquire cheers.

Hi sanket. The common issue with Hyosung bikes is battery charging problem which happens mainly due to non usage of the bike for a week or more.Battery not charging properly can be due to the RR unit or with the battery itself.New 2015 model will probably cost 5.75Lacs or more.While buying a used one check for tyre usage and whether the clutch is working fine.

Guys, thanks a ton for prompt response, I'm glad that this thread lives.

I think all the higher segment bike are expensive to maintain to I'm mentally prepared for that while looking for this upgrade I took a test ride of 2011 model, and was quite happy with the response. I bike does feel heavy but stable at the same time, maneuvering does requires a lot input from the rider but I guess I kinda enjoy that effort. I'm still looking for better deals, specially looking for a newer model. Will update here once I come across any. Please do share your thoughts on what areas to look in specially while buying a pre owned GT. You have pretty long experience with the bike, I'm sure you would know details. Thanks


Hi Arnab, I'm sorry but you certainly seem to be the one with most troubled experience with the bike. Could you please share your story and why do you have so much hatred towards this bike It quite clear that buying this bike is like entering a game with all the loop holes known. But its still a good. Infact in my opinion every bike is good, its just matter of opinion. I dont mean to offend or disrespect you, I honestly appreciate your response but it just makes me wonder as to what you have gone through for being so much against GT please share.

Thanks for taking out time for detailed reply. I'm inspired by your experiences with this bike, I think more than just being lucky, its about being confident about your ride which helped you flawless experience with the bike. The build quality is a bit low I agree, but the new model does looks killer for sure, it has that thing ! Upgrading from Duke is definitely going to be a challenge as I have developed the bad habits as side effect of ABS and metzeller combo but I'll have to learn to control this one if I get it. Thanks again for sharing.

I'm still looking for a better deal as I am more interested in the newer model right now. I'm kinda ready to take the risk of trying this bike, worst-in-worst will have to sell it off at cheaper rate, well, I'll take it as an experience and atleast it'll serve the purpose of satisfying the so called 'chull'

I picked up a used Gt650R back in Oct 2013. Been using it for more than a year and half now and I'm quite satisfied with it. I have completed various short and long rides(Atleast 2 a month) on it with not a single issue except a puncture (which can happen on any bike).. Done the Saddlesore1600 also on the bike in March 2014. I have had zero issue like RR unit or any other small niggles that many owners have reported. Maybe I'm just lucky but I have nothing to complain about.

Cons:
As [MENTION=32636]melroyal[/MENTION] mentioned above you have to factor in the higher cost of parts and higher lead time for parts to arrive.
Fit and finish is the only aspect in my opinion where Hyosung has tremendous ground to cover to catch up to it's Japanese rivals.
Since you live in Delhi you should have no problem getting stuff through your local sbk workshop so I doubt that's a concern.

Note:
More importantly since you are coming from a duke 390 you will have to be careful as this bike is faster, heavier and lacks ABS. The brakes are not very confidence inspiring and will lock in a panic braking situation if you jam them. As far you are aware and ride accordingly you should have no issues. Looking forward to more updates as and when you pick up your ride.

In Bangalore used 2013/2014 model also goes for same price. They don't have any resale value.

Hi Sanket.Hyosung GT650R is a good bike but don't think that the bike will be pocket friendly, as most of the parts need to be imported which cost a lot. Servicing of the bike cost Rs4,500 which needs to be done after every 4000kms.Bike has good torque and you can easily be touching speeds of 150kmph.At higher revs there's more vibration felt at handlebar and footpegs.Prices of a 2011 model should be about 3.5Lacs which is very tempting.Take the bike for a short 5kms test ride and then make the decision.

Been following the thread for a while since I was searching for reviews from owners. I'm planning to buy a 2011 used model in Delhi. Currently owning a D390 for 1.5 years which was an upgrade from R15, and now craving to switch back to sports riding staze, so though this could be a closes and pocket friendly choice. May be after some time will upgrade to some inline machine.
Just bouncing thought here, please share your thoughts,

Hey thanks roshan. I would like to say that now the ride is very much comfy. Also in traffic conditions i mean bumper to bumper now its easy to handle.

Guys recently i did some modification to the handle bars of my GT650R. I have customized it to raise a bit now the riding position is much better almost equivatlent to Honda CBR250R. I have not installed any new handlebars to it instead used the stock handlebars.

The only thing I did is the handlebars are now above the T which used to be below in stock bike out there.
