    Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience

Hey many thanks for your quick reply but CBZ xtreme sports clutch cable is not fit for Impulse( a bit short), could not get time today to check for achiever( but as per mechanic both achiever and xtreme cables will be same), someone on this thread mentioned dazzeler- but that bike is also out of production now...

Looking for any help from you guys-tried 2-3 hero dealers also but no clutch cables with them ..

I know Impulse is less powered as compared to R15 but on R15 it's too difficult as putting crash cages on R15 directly affect the chassis.

Impulse is a great bike. Now if you have got it on OLX you need to be aware of the following:

    1. Is it genuine 8200kms or not.
    2. Hows is the suspensions (both front and rear)
    3. Has the engine modified in any way (as many motocross riders do it)
    4. Is the electricals working all good ( from meter to all the indicators)
    5. Is it acccidental

When you go for Impulse, remember that you are going for a motorcycle which is out of production since 2014. So the cosmetic parts are a bit of concern, though the engine parts are a mixture of Unicorn, Extreme, and other Hero Models. To ride this machine, you will have to get used to it. A good condition bike would do a max speed of about 110kmph. So a perfect touring speed would be around 80 to 90kmph for the longevity of the machine.

You also need to be sure that you are buying the dual purpose to fulfill the purpose which you have in your mind. So go ahead and take a call. Feel free to ask anything else you want to.

What and where Impulse can go, you can read in the following threads:

A 20000 km bike at ₹42,000 on olx, isn't it too cheap??
Any impulse owmer from surat here please help in checking me the bike.
If there's anyone from surat here please reply.
    Thanks.
Why are you selling you R15 (which model )? A 20k kms on odo for 42Gs for an Impulse I think its a bit on the costlier side. Impulse, once you get addicted to riding, you tend to leave the tarmac whenever you have a chance. So check all the things before you make a decision. And IMO, R15 is a complete different league from Impulse, you wont find a more refined 150cc engine anywhere else in India.

    If i remember correctly,
The impulses were sold at 30K discount during the March / April 2017 during the BS4 fiasco. Still there weren't many takers for those.
If you remember well, Activas were sold at 14K discount and more.

I hope this should give you the right picture on what the vehicle is worth. Anything more than 25K is not at all worth the pain. Procuring any spares for it would be next to impossible. Engine components are shared with CBZ i guess, so that shouldn't be a problem with engine components. Rest all parts are different from Hero Lineup.

i would any day pick a Karizma than Impulse. Karizma is a much better deal than Impulse. Spares wouldn't be a problem with Zma too. Dont touch the ZMR even with a pole. Try to pick the R version, which came till 2013 (I think)

I was browsing Olx and found a good deal on a 2014 model Impulse run for only 8200kms. As, no good off-road motorcycle is available in the market as of now, I was thinking of buying it.
So, I needed to know, if that would be a good decision?
If yes, then what all would I need to check when I would be inspecting it. Asking here since who would know better than the owners.
    TIA.

    Any help would be great.

And yes, it was raining most of the time of the journey. This motorcycle eats off road like anything and is pretty stable on the highways as well. By the way, i was cruising at 90kmph on the highways with no issues whatsoever with the motorcycle.

With regards to the fuel efficiency, it is pretty efficient. From Chandertaal to Bilaspur which is a a good 300kms, i lost only 3 bars of fuel. And please note that half of the route is pure off road with no roads present whatsoever !!

Do you know, That thing has the worst gear ratios ever for a 150cc. ATB Bud.

Going to Himalayas on that from Hyderabad. you better sell your home and keep cash handy for fuel. Riding that long on impulse at high RPM.. get prepped to buy a Petrol bunk on the way and be prepared to get the engine fixed.

Indian Junta are the most sensible of the world. That's why they buy tons of Activa's, which has the best ride and handling along with the best braking prowess in the segment with unquestionable reliabilty.
