Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
How much are they quoting for the swap?Originally posted by trnaren View PostAm planning a ride from Delhi to Leh in june mid.
Till date I have attempted simple mods like wider renthal bar, better grips, bar raisers, motocross foot pegs, higher seat height, etc to improve ergonomics. Also replaced the stock spark plug with iridium ones and threw away the top cover to the snorkel in air box. Have dabbled with motul syntetic oil, etc.
My impulse experienced serious breathing issues when i did a trip delhi-kufri-sangla-kaza-rackong pe- shimla- delhi about 4 years back.. managed at that time by punching holes in the stock filter.
however, now i have taken the plunge and am upgrading to a karizma engine @indimotard greasehouse in bangalore for the ensuing trip. Will also change the carb, air filter and exhaust in this process. Anxious and excited about the new avatar which will be ready sometime next week.
though it will burn a hole in my pocket, am hoping have a good time on the ride.
Any suggestions are welcome!
Any break up given?

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
i fitted new tyres. Timsun 819 series. same size as the original ceat. these tyres have big block buttons comparing to gripp xl. for the first 200 kms it had a bit weird grip.but now it seems to have setteled down .tested it in both dry and rain and also some slush. works great.looks good too.
ceat gripp xl are good but the tyre wall is very weak. i had lot of thread left on the front Tyre but the wall was cracked in many places.
Timsun costed me rs5000 for both the tyres.
btw the oil spill is from failed o ring on neutral switch.Last edited by SiDDi; 05-10-2017, 02:07 PM.

I think it should fit,but i dont see the point as the unique point of impulse is the frame and suspension.Originally posted by addykted View PostGreat job man!
Looking forward to your review in coming days...
Just one query as to whether the front of Karizma can be retrofitted on Impluse? If yes what needs to be done and if no
nevermind but Karizma front end (including the large disk) and engine plus Impulse would be a mean Highway cruiser...

Re: Hero Impulse ownership experience
Yaah price would be a leading factor of its success in the market. Also market is a whole other thing, i mean Impulse wasn't good at it but is one hell of a motorcycle, so to heck with the market...a decent price tag would be good VFM and Honda being Honda will price it a little higher than usual I'm sure. Although around 1.75 it would be fine acc to me.Originally posted by Shivanshu View PostWhen I saw XRE300 I was all gaga over it. Now lets see when they launch it. Motorbeam is saying by the end of 2017. Pricing speculation is around 2lacs. This would be one hell of a bike. And the engine of Honda has proved itself in the international market already. Wish Yamaha could get the XT250 !!!

Almost the same, the chassis, grab rails, tank even the airbox and the exhaust are pretty same. Also mounting that 300 mill on the Impulse might be possible. But that idea is too far fetched for now. Other than that the spares would come in handy on our Impulse too.
Meatier front forks (as compared to that of Impulse), rear disc and that 21/18 combination is pure. And that 300cc mill will be superb.
And given that it's a Honda, Im saving for this ! [emoji16]

Me too been lusting over the xre pics.Originally posted by Ankitvile View PostSuperb. Nor more power worries now.
Talking about the ZMA engine swap and the low power on the only dirtbike India has the Hero Impulse, who loved the latest news and the spy pics of the Honda XRE300 lately!?
Also not the mention the stripped down pics of the XRE 300 shows complete resemblance with the Impulse's frame. Same mounting positions, similar fame and chassis.

Thanks For the Info , Great job :-)Originally posted by curse View PostThis was done in Raipur Chattisgarh. All work was done by me in living room of my first floor flat.
Used karizma was purchased for 20 k, and some 2-3 k spent on consumables and mountings.
Hero dose not supply built engines, you have to either buy a used one or find an accidental one written off as total loss.
Other than engine swap you have to take care of electrical part, as Karizma has 3 phase ACG and impulse has single phase.
As learnt here there are two methods
1.Replace ACG of Karizma with impulse one. Thats it.
2.Replace the Ignition and charging part with Karizma.
I chose the second one, brought a scrap karizma harness, separated the required part and ran it besides impulse harness. No wire from impulse wiring was cut or spliced,
Mods are totally reversible.(Ignition coil, cdi,ACG and RR unit need to be replaced).

Also, what was the cost? Did you get the engine from a donor ZMA or we can get the engine?
Any other changes required other than engine swap ?
Eager to get a 223mill impulse.
