Re: KTM 200 Duke
small update from my end.. so finally my d200 too had the stator coil fail (5yrs/40k km). Speed indication was haywire, mostly stuck at 0 with intermittent pop up of the speed, checked with a multi-meter at home and confirmed the diagnosis.
so decided to take the bike in for service which was also due. they too checked the voltages using their diag tool/battery tester and confirmed the same.
had the coil replaced (part cost was around 1250, labor 250 approx). I was in two minds about going in for the newer stator side engine cover (which has a nozzle to spray oil) but decided against it (and anyway they did not have stock and i wanted to get the bike fixed immediately)
General service i.e. replaced all filters, engine oil, and also coolant since the current coolant was changed 3 yrs ago
Used the Shell AX7 15w50 oil this time around.
Coolant: motul motocool expert
And also changed the spark plug to the ngk iridium. I must say the throttle response feels much crisper now. Have ridden only around 50km in city traffic now. Will ride a few 100-1000km more and see how it behaves. Considering the ngk iridium isn't way too expensive vs the oem bosch plug (300 vs 180rs approx), Ill be happy if it will do duty for at-least 30k km without creating any problems. (the current plug had done close to 20k km)
Bought the oil, coolant and plug on amazon (deals of course!)
Chain/Sprockets in good condition (Still the stock chain and rear sprocket, front sprocket was changed at 28k km iirc to the p220 one which is same as the d200's front and costs 150rs.)
And now the svc has put up a notice (Seemed an official notice from ktm itself) at their parts counter that they are selling the parts over the counter at MRP. If not in stock you can place an order by paying 20% advance. A welcome move imo. Also got some interesting insight into the troubleshooting of electrical components and their 'ideal' values for things such as tps,ics etc.. but sorry no pics due to confidentiality reasons

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hi. i've also changed the cam chain tensioner by my self and its seems ok now but not 100% .after 1 minute on idle this tick tick comes again for some seconds but its very low. I have to be focused to hear it cause its not noticable but i am sure it is coming from the same spot... i have a feeling that it will come back sooner or later. :/Originally posted by krunal1981 View Posti had the same issue. the svc claimed to have replaced the chain tensioner but the sound is back after i did a 1200 kms ride. Will go the SVC this weekend and see what they have to say.
i need some advise on something else
I bought yesterday from ali an exhaust pipe for 15 dollars and an ar exaust for 29 for the duke 200... I am going to brake my engine if i install them?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
It depends on the quality of paint you are using. Mostly it should be approx 900~ minimum for a decent job. Cheaper options might be available, but the work of the the paintjob is always a question. Always use good quality paint, so it it lasts long for the money paid.Originally posted by Omkar Santosh Naik View PostSmall question, what would be the cost of painting the wheels of the D200?
Has anyone done it?
Ivan, now that you've changed your CCT, don't worry about it too much, it's a single cylinder bike after all, and once heated, you will hear some mild ticking which is totally normal, these are basically the interference sounds of the rotating components itself, don't worry about that. Secondly, you won't break your engine by installing an after market exhaust, but it's better to program your ECM and air flow for the exhaust system that you're installing, helps gain the best of the modifications. If you're not able to get it programmed as per the new exhaust, nothing to worry, take it easy and don't rev the nuts out of it each time.Originally posted by ivan1985 View PostHi. i've also changed the cam chain tensioner by my self and its seems ok now but not 100% .after 1 minute on idle this tick tick comes again for some seconds but its very low. Understood. Right now after the cct replaced i feel the bike more solid in sound and on road ( i mean how the engine responds to throtle and downshifting.. more tight i think is the right word.
About the exhaust I am not planning to have this exhaust always on bike. I bought it more to have a little fan and to hear something different from my bike when i get bored by it's sounding. Then i will switch back to stock ( i hope
) I saw some videos how to remove the d200 exhaust and it seems pain in the ass. Its the same when installing the stock exhaust back in there or worse??? :P

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Hello,
I was just curious about an issue i am having. While riding above 40km/hr single handed, and you apply front brake, the handle suddenly jerks a little as if the bike would go out of control, if you had more speed. Is this normal for all bikes? Can this be a fault with my bike?

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Removing the Duke's exhaust is, yes, a pain in the arse, as you pointed out, especially the muffler. Installing it and undoing it takes some dexterity, but it's not a rocket science, you can easily get the knack of it by the time you remove and install. It's the same work as when you uninstall, nothing much harder.Originally posted by ivan1985 View PostThanks for your quick reply B7ACKTHORN

When you suddenly brake with one hand off the bar, and at slow speeds, the handlebar can and will jerk to sideways, which is normal. Don't try sudden one hand braking, you can crash when you least expect.Originally posted by sanjay.rajan500 View PostHello,

Re: KTM 200 Duke
Thank you for the reply. Actually what i did was not sudden braking, but gradually only applied the brakes to see how it behaves. Am kind of getting worried, because front wheel skids are becoming commom occurence for me nowadys.thats too when i brake in a straight line, the front wheel starts to skid sideways. I hope its not a aftercause of the fork oil seal replacement i got done 1 month back.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostRemoving the Duke's exhaust is, yes, a pain in the arse, as you pointed out, especially the muffler. Re: KTM 200 Duke
Since you've replaced your fork oil, the dragging or twisting of the handlebar to one side can be due to incorrect fork quantity used in either of the forks.. Too high or too low fork oil in one of the forks will pull towards the side. Usually, if you have a leak or low oil in a particular fork, the handle will tend to pull towards that side with low oil or leaky fork. Observe which side it's pulling. Secondly, also make sure the both the forks are aligned properly in case the forks were removed from the bike. Uneven forks too can induce twitchy handling pulling towards one side when brakes are applied.Originally posted by sanjay.rajan500 View PostThank you for the reply.
