1 looks just BLOODY amazing as soon as i started to ride from the dealership to my house which is about 40 kms away....at the first red light(signal) got a couple of people asking me questions as to what make and how much the bike was almost everyone on the road was staring at the bike and well that just felt AWESOME

2 This bike has amazing torque .... slight twist of the wrist and the bike just wants to take off , good throttle response

3 so i got onto the high way and wooooo hooo bike touches triple digits with ease...touched 110 kmph in no time and i didnt even feel that i was going so fast ...i like that (good aerodynamics) there were strong cross winds but the bike was firmly grounded and didn't sway at all.

4 Once in the traffic packed area of the city .... i did feel "my nuts start to roast" from the heat of the engine ...but keep in mind that it was 1:45 in the afternoon and well mumbai is freakin hot at that time...but still the heat wasn't that bad.

so to sum it all up from my first experience with the hyosung gt250r i would have to say that "its all about what the rider wants" no bike is perfect and as we are all individuals we all have our own preferences so for me the HYOSUNG gt250r is a WINNER ... i wanted a bike that looks and feels like a superbike with the riding position the look the size etc etc, yes it is a bit more expensive than the other bikes in the class but hey id pay the price for this bike any day ,it puts a smile on your face when you ride it

      • Ok just finished doing 105 kms .....most of which unfortunately was in the city and here are my findings

1 Traffic in mumbai is just getting worse everyday (but then again its the same almost everywhere around the world ...personal experiences) and due to that, riding the bike is not so fun... in the sense that the gt250r just begs you to unleash the beast ....but you can't cus of the TRAFFIC the POTHOLES and the MOUNTAIN like SPEED BRAKERS.

2 With the GT250r you need to go extremely slow over the small but tall speed brakers .....dunno how this country makes speed brakers but they aren't normal( i hope you know what i mean) cus your under belly will scrape againsts the braker and that is not a good sound (personal experience)

3 The heat from the engine will ROAST your NUTS whilst your in traffic .....the only solution i found is to sit as far away from the tank (on the riders seat) as you can ....it helps

4 The Gear shifting is a bit clunky ... but as for now i know that its because its a NEW bike and the engine, the gears everything needs to get BROKEN IN so to speak ...so will update on that in a month or so

5 If you plan to get this bike ....your in for alot of questions... at the petrol pump, the signal almost anywhere that you go there will be someone asking you about the bike and THIS I LIKE !!! Kudos to the BIG BOY

6 You need to keep this bike clean ..... so buy a good car wash bottle (i use armour all) a good wax and polish(i use armour all) and most important 2 micro fibre cloths to wash and wax the bike.

7 I know that its a 250cc bike but this bike has an AWESOME F**king exhaust note and it gets even sweeter after 6000 rpms ...just roars like a beast

8 Oh and to the answer the question of handling the bike in the city...well....its easy to handle the bike...i was cutting through traffic with ease....ive read many reviews saying that its hard to handle ...youre backs gonna pain etc etc...... DIDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES

so those are my findings so far .....until the next update

Simply because its a huge frame for a 250cc unit, it is as big as the gt650r

                    • Guys, i am planning to buy a new bike since long time, and have almost finalized CBR250R, for obvious reasons.... then yesterday, i decided to test ride the very few bikes i had earlier omitted from my list i.e. Bullet Desert Storm and GT20R. The reason for inclusion of Bullet is during my recent trip to Goa, i liked it very much for relaxed riding, but then i realized that it is not something i am going to enjoy for years, coz i know there is a "wannabe rossi" somewhere hidden in my heart. so next was GT250R.

He recognized that i had went there earlier also a couple of times few months ago, but due to some reason or the other couldn't get a test ride. The good part was, the showroom guy not only gave me a test ride willingly but simply handed over the keys to me and said go check her out.... i was like WTF... don't you need my DL, won't you send a person as pillion, and he said smiling no sir its not required. (My wife later said that may be their bikes are not selling and they want to sell them desperately) ...so slowly i took her out of showroom, on to the road and started, engaged 1st gear ..throttle.. let go of clutch slowly .. time to place both feet on the footpegs.... again what the hell, where have the footpegs went then i realized "i am a wannabe rossi and this is my M1"..ok found them, slowly moving through traffic... i realized that it needs much more space than my pulsar, but its nothing that you can't live with. crossed FC road then onto university road, found open stretch of road, gave throttle, and boy the way it responded, the way it surged ahead, soon everything was a distant dot on the rear view mirror. ok another red light, stop, wait, green and here i go....

i was so awestruck and amazed by that bike's big bike feel, sporty attack type riding position, looks, throttle response, free revving nature of the engine, and an exhaust note which is many times better than a CBR. i went on and on...till i realized i have been riding it for 40 mins, ok be a gentleman, time to return back, this is just a test ride. and finally i returned after almost an hour.

so the moral of the story is --- inspite of all the flaws, like glaring panel gaps, exposed electricals, poor fit and finish, etc etc, i was still awestruck and amazed by the fact that it somewhere, touched my heart. be it big bike looks, extreme sporty riding stance, exhaust note, linear vibration free power delivery, a litre class feel or whatever .. i liked it.

so now, in my mind it is a serious competition to CBR250..... CBR250 ticks all the boxes in the mind that matters but fails to tick even a single box in heart, whereas with GT250R, it is exact opposite. one appears to heart, other to mind.

now the thing is -- i have to take a decision, so help me out. i will be riding my bike to office everyday, which is 160 KMS round trip consisting of 70% highway and 30% hill section.

so reliability is the key deciding factor. how reliable is the bike. ..?? it has to run daily without fail ... 365 days a year, any season... is it good enough???

since it is air+oil cooled, how is the engine performance during long trips on hot summer afternoons???? how is the rear cylinder of V configuration gets cooled, as it barely receives any air...??

next come service centers, are they competent enough..??

what about spare parts price, how cheap or costly it is to maintain this bike...??

                      how good are the headlights..?

how long will the bike last...???

what to do with the bike when i want a change, few years down the lane... since we can't expect a good resale value, and we have invested so much in it ...???

                      • Hi Prince. I am not a GT owner but I have a couple of close friends who own the ST7 and the GT650N, so I would comment based on their experiences.

Since reliability is something very critical to you considering you commute 160 kms daily, pls stay away from Hyosung. The Japs are much, much better in this regard.

Spare parts are very costly since majot portions like the tank, fairings were taken as is from the earlier GT650R. FYI the tank costs around 65k. So more or less the maintenance would be at par with the GT650R.

SVC, atleast here in Bangalore, screws the ownership experience completely.

Ok, As a GT250R owner .. here are my ans :

i have now completed 10k kms and from that point of view , the bike is very reliable, i use it daily commute to office and its really a fun to ride.
i have done 2000km ride in 4 days [check my kanyakumari ride] and in last day done almost non-stop 650km and all the way bike was great without any problems.

Now the heat part as its air+oil cool, it more than enough for any place you don;t feel the heat , except in one condition - a snail like moving traffic jam

Now service centers , now i don;t think you face any problem. earlier when bike launched first , the SVC were not so competent , now lot improved

Headlights are v.good according to me, i have ridden every day and at night i have no issues , i would have happy if same light was there on my R15 also

with old comets still running and engine is build like rock , im confident that it will last longer than any bike

Spare parts - for 2 years from date of purchase , you need to worry anything at all , parts replacements are easy and DSK don;t even ask any questions , and also any mishaps happens , the insurance covers everything 100% and even covers the labor charges also. so no worries there. now actual point the cost of spares after 2 years - currently the spares are equal to Ninja parts ,but regular things are cheaper than R15 [disk pads, oil filter..etc...etc].
and DSK this year starting many spares locally manufactured , so by the time 2 years over the spare will be very cheap, else get it from outside [there are lot of online shops]
for ex: tank cost currently - 65k , alloy-30k , now the same if u get it from hyosungsource and other sites , with custom duty paid u get it for tank-23k , alloy-15k

Probelms: now you might heard lot of problems with ST7/GT650 , yes that's correct there are lot of prob in those , but for 250 you will hear rarely [check all SVC] , its due to small engine less heat and no prob.

final word: it depends why your buying this ? purpose ? if you like sports bike and that true rossi like feeling then its the only bike now. but if you have bad back or wrist then it might give you lot of pain. once u get this bike you might have to hit gym to get your body strong to adjust big bike, although its not as aggressive as R1/Gixer or similar ltr bike.

                          • @ Teejayy: thanks for your inputs.

@ nagoo: man, did i read it correct, 10,000 kms, but you purchased bike only a few months ago...??

Heat is not an issue for me, i rode it on highway and busy streets as well. i was talking from the point of view of engine mechanicals, poor heat management, local hot spots, overheating and increased wear and tear of engine, these are the things due to which the rest of the world moved onto liquid cooled engines. the effect will be more pronounced in rear cyl. of V - configuration.

are you sure service centers are good, what about spares availability or is it like honda CBR, where we have to wait for things like shims or even an oil filter, which are regular items.

you say headlights are very good, but i have read reviews which says otherwise, can you post pics of high beam and dipper..??

i was not talking about spare parts cost such as tank etc, they will anyway cost more, still 65K just for a tank is too much. i was talking about regular wear and tear items, like brake pads, oil filter, air filter, master cyl. kit, chain sprocket, spark plugs etc, any idea about the pricing, also what is the regular servicing cost..??

i have also heard that electrical fail quite often, like RR unit etc..??

have you done any parts replacement till date, if yes which parts and for how much and reason.

i am also a bit concerned if after some time DSK might also pull out like garware, and there will be no one to service it..??

also with the launch of D200, D390, Ninja300, P375 etc and declaration by DSK itself that they will be going for a localization, i fear that after 1 year, its price may be reduced by around 75000... will we feel cheated..??

do you find gearbox clunky and neutral hard to find..??

what is the reason, very few ppl are buying it, i think there are only 2 GT250 owners on xbhp.

sorry for bugging you with so many questions....
