Classic 350 long term experience,Problems & Modification
In 2010 i am planning to buy Royal enfield But confused between pulsar 220 and Royal enfield. my heart is telling Royal enfield.
First Impression:-
I ride Before RE 2 times in my life only 1km.
My first ride on the Cl350 wasn't a pleasant I find it very Uncomfortable to drive because its Very Heavy,
I felt that i am sitting on the top of Generator..lol coz i never drive such kind of bikes.
BUT I AM ENJOYING EACH BIT.
It takes 3,4 days to get used to the power and the vibration
One thing, It grabs everyone's attention on the road 50+ person till now asking about my bike.
Mostly Compare OLD Vs New. Classic definitely got LooKs
Pros:
The looks are attractive, self start, disc brake and gas filled shockers,Low maintenance
Cons:
Rear disc brake, Fuel Meter and RPM meter(digital dashboard).
Two thing Comes Free with Royal enfield :-
1.) Feeling of man
2.) Bullet "chale toh Duniya rasta de".
+ addition
3.) I Never Stop by any Cop/traffic Police
During FREE service period => Overall Performance:
Fuel Average got 39-40kmpl, Occasionally Used 5th gear
The throttle response is very good and the pickup is instantaneous
Feeling Amazing Torque
The thump is muted
Suspension can ride pretty smoothly over rough terrain like gravel and mud, and bumps.
Brakes is Good(rear disk brake require) the rear brake pad has no life.
Tyres is ok not the best
Handling is quite tough to handle this heavyweighter in rush hours and slow moving traffic.
The gear feels a bit hard and has a lot of false neutrals.
Problem encountered Free service:
1.) Hard Gear
2.) False Neutrals
3.) I found bike front shocker sleeves paint scratched.
In Third day, I wake up in the morning and saw the rear Tyre got puncture. 3 puncture repaired.
4.) One week later, i kick my bike to start its start but when i saw kick lever i am shocked its Loose and hanging like a
pendulum
, they didn't came-up. I use my hand to up the lever and drive.(No problem with start)
After 3,4 days, To resolve kick lever, i reach noida service station, The mechanic told me lever spring is problem and i ask "kaise
kharab hui" ,he told me "kisi ne jor se kick mar di hogi".
Install new spring Rs20
5.)The Free service time came again same problem kick lever,i decided to repair in 1st service

Electric Start vs Kickstart. Which is better for RE Classic 350?
I am not sure if this discussion had been held elsewhere. If so, please re-direct me.
For the past one month i am a proud owner of a RE Classic 350..
While delivery of the vehicle, the dealer fellow specifically told me that i should always use kick start for cold starting the engine.
But the OWNER's MANUAL has cautioned that cold start should be done only using electric start.
And my research on the net till now hasn't yielded any clear-cut answer. Please help me regarding this..
1) Should i use electric start or kick start in the mornings?? Does using kick start cause damage to moving parts?
2) Also, there is a lot of mention about cranking the engine. What does that mean?? (Pardon me if this is a silly question)

1. Always use electric start when cold starting the engine. Forget what the delivery guy told, they blabber anything. If you want the life of your sprag clutch to be long then always use ES when cold starting and there are few other reasons.Originally posted by cmkarthik View PostI am not sure if this discussion had been held elsewhere. Re: Electric Start vs Kickstart. Which is better for RE Classic 350?
This sometimes refers to using the kicker a few times with the ignition OFF so as to circulate the oil within the engine before ignition takes place (i.e. before you actually start the bike) - since a lot of wear and tear happens during the initial startup, it is advised to crank a few times before turning on the ignition and then letting the bike idle for around 30 seconds to a minute before moving on cold starts (i.e when the bike is left parked for more than a few hours)Originally posted by cmkarthik View Post

I believe this is a good practice (at least the idling for a minute before moving).
Again this being a bullet, it may refer to the 'starting mechanism' since these uce bullets do not have a decompression lever... you may have to gently crank (if using the kick starter) before ignition happens (sorry i do not know how to explain this by typing here
)

Thanks for the info. And Yes, that's what it says. "Crank engine a few times to lubricate cylinder walls and piston" and "Close the hole and crank engine several timesOriginally posted by gyan_recl350 View Post1. and refit sparkplug"

I think i get it.. I've seen some Bullet owners do that.. But i didn't know 'crank the engine' was the term for that. Thanks a bunch for clarifying. I'll follow that hereafter.Originally posted by s1d View Post(sorry i do not know how to explain this by typing here

Carburettor Issue or something else!!
Hi;
I have a Royal Enfield Classic 350. I am facing an issue with my bullet.
When I start the bike, it idles properly and when I try to open the throttle, it misfires a lot and then the engine dies. I talked to a local mechanic about the problem.
He told me that there is a problem with the carburettor because of which the spark-plugs are also getting short.
The mechanic says that I need to replace the faulty carburettor to resolve the problem.
Has anyone faced such issue? Any resolutions?
Thanks
Anand V Mathur

I don't think it takes 6-8 months now.. My friend recently got it in 3 months in chennai. I guess that's the situation after their new plant became operational..Originally posted by arjun007rao View PostHey guys I am very keen in buying a royal enfield classic 350 but due my impatience for waiting 6-8 months I want to get bullet by extra money. Has anyone here faced problems with the front fork.?? During my first service, the mechanic told me that the fork is tightening on its own.. He claimed that he has sorted it out, but i'm still having a very stiff handle bar..
Any idea of how to approach this issue???

Fork tightening on it's own not sure, but handle bar can be adjusted in 5 mins at ASC. Get it checked there, I had this handle bar issue as wellOriginally posted by cmkarthik View PostI don't think it takes 6-8 months now.. My friend recently got it in 3 months in chennai. Re: Getting royal enfield classic 350 by paying extra money
Hi
just thought of writing my experience on classic 350 that i bought on sep 21st 2013. I bought the vehicle on sep 21st from sri sai motors, tirupati, andhra pradesh. i got a call from the dealer on 21st morning saying the vehicle has arrived and asked me to come and take the delivery. After reaching the showroom i was told to select a vehicle from three vehicles that were there in the workshop. out of those three vehicles, two vehicles were august made and one was September made. i checked the September one for scratches and dents and finalized it. when i asked for a test ride the dealer said it is not possible. After insisting he agreed for the test ride. During test ride i found the below issues and reported the same to the dealer -
1. vehicle wobbles at 50kmph. For this the dealer said it is because of lack of proper tyre pressure. he said the air pump in the workshop is not working and i have to get the air from outside.
2. brake light wasn't working when i applied front brake. technician did some temp fix (tapping the wires near front brake lever) which lasted for only couple of hours.
3. weird engine noise. Dealer said this is decomp sound and it is known thing.
The dealer told me there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and i can take it without any second thought. if any problem comes in future they are there to fix it. i trusted him and signed the papers and got the vehicle.
Real story starts now..................
The very next day after filling the tyres with air (23psi & 33psi), me and my brother were on our way to a nearby temple and we sensed something rubbing against the rear tyre. booooommmmmmmmm it was rear fender rubbing against the rear tyre. When we looked from the back of the vehicle the rear fender was not at all aligned properly. Also i was still experiencing the wobbling at 50kmph. Apart from this i was also experiencing some jerk when the vehicle decelerates at 30kmph. immediately i took the vehicle to the dealer and they applied some chain spray to take care of jerk issue, which only lasted only for a day. And regarding other problems they said they will take care of them during first service. can you imagine how disgusting this is.......................
on oct 1st i took my vehicle for first service and all they did was they changed oil and oil filter, fixed the brake light and carberetter tuning. Regarding wobbling they told me to get it checked from some local mechanic. what the heck of a response is this...................a week old vehicle and in spite of complaining about the wobbling issue during PDI, the local dealer pretended as if it is a minor tyre pressure thing and now you are asking me to get the wheel rim corrected from a local mechanic. The technicians at the showroom are in no mood to listen what i am saying and it seems they don't have any intention to fix the reported issues. Anyways as per the technician's suggestion i took the vehicle to a local mechanic for wheel rim checkup. After inspecting the wheel rims (without removing the tyres from vehicle), the local mechanic said there is a bend in both the rims. just to confirm the same i got it double checked from another local mechanic and he too confirmed the same. so from this it is evident that i was taken for granted at the time of delivery. It seems the dealer knew that there is bend in the wheel rims before delivery and he just cheated me saying that the wobbling was due to lack of proper tyre pressure.
DEAR RE MANAGEMENT, IS THIS THE WAY YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS? IS THIS THE WAY YOU TRAIN YOUR TECHNICIANS TO SERVICE YOUR VEHICLES? IS THIS THE WAY YOUR DEALERS DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS?
To be honest i completely regret my decision on buying a vehicle from royal enfield.
