Congrats bro.. Wish you many miles on your hooligan.. Keep us posted with the pictures and your initial experience and what made you chose this bike? Were there any other bike into consideration before you bought this monster?

I was thinking Thunderbird 500 but as I read everywhere that I need to give more time on maintenance. I also dont like its low speed.

My main attraction for Duke was top speed and few others are, low price, light weight, great look. Everyday you will be asked by at least five people and ton of people looking while you ride... i feel like I am special.

I still need to discover lot. I really wish that few of senior members makes some video about maintenance of bike like how to change oil..how to tight break...

I have also a question..how to find if this is new 2015 model? I baught it on 6th of July.

Keep us posted with your experiences brother.

As posted by a brother in this thread. This might be helpful in identifying the month and year of the model.

You can find the VIN on the left neck of the bike.

        Cheers!

Sounds like some sort of wiring issue. Better get it checked at ASC asap

Welcome to the missile club Read the service manual completely, acquaint yourself well with the bike before giving her the whip. Check for coolant level, chain tension and lubrication, engine oil level and every time you start, warm her up for 20-30secs for better engine life. Wish you many miles of fun n happiness.

Bro, it was never my intention to put you into that conundrum. It's just that I have the same buying choice as you had (D390 & RE CGT). I just wanted know your state of mind, what made you chose D390 that's it but it's cool. No offence and we all wish you many many kilometres on your machine.

What do you guys use for chain cleaning and lubing? I'm hearing conflicting things about WD-40 as a cleaner.

For chain cleaning am using Motul 5100 synthetic as I had a leftover can which I was using as engine oil for my bull. Chain lubrication - tribocor tc40. After every 600kms I give my bike a nice wash, then clean the chain with motul and a toothbrush and then lube it with tribocor. I adjust the chain tension at 1200kms. And am not having any probs whatsoever. My method of chain cleaning may be primitive but am fine as long as it works

                      Hi,

                      Just had 100 kms trip.
                      Bike is doing well.
Observed that rear disk of brake is very hot, if you touch it will burn fingers.
Immediately called service center and imagine what the reply is??
Service center guys saying that its common thing with rc .
Rear disc become hot when you drive and there is nothing to worry.

Guys need serious advice. Is it true?

                        lol
                        chill bro
                        its okay
they get extremely hot due to immense friction when brakes are applied
all my bikes brake disk get hot
                        its no worry
                        just chill and relax
                        and don't touch it
throw some water on it and see the water evaporate suddenly just for one
or you could try to take your bike out when the disk is cold and drive it around without using the brakes for a couple of kilo meters and then check if the brakes are hot or not

if they are then that means the brake pads are touching the disk and get it to the service centre and get it fixed

Looking to fit backrest like this on my Duke 390. Can anyone help me getting this? I forgot forum URL where I seen this.

Backrest is I guess is of Thunerbird. I can get it online but its hard to get the fittings/ frame.

I am happy to pay any charges to get this done. Either complete thing or just fitting. Please help. I am from small city and tired finding good shop for this.

                          Regards

Got my "Thumper" delivered today. Today was an awesome day to be honest, new Batman v Superman trailer and Duke 390 delivery. Very, very happy.

Anyway, here's how I decided to go with this bike from myriad of choices I had. I'll keep it short.

I was riding FZ and Unicorn for about 7 years now. I finally decided to go for a new bike. Since I'm still a student, had some convincing to do to get a new bike and once I laid down the margin for the budget, I started looking for options.

I waited several months for Yamaha YZF-R3, didn't see any news or anything about the bike here in India. But it just so happened that the day I completely paid for Duke 390, I heard news about R3 releasing next month from TopGear India. Oh well, can't have everything as we want I guess.

Anyway, I test rode a lot bikes before deciding on Duke 390. RE CGT, CBR250R, RC390, TNT 300, even RS200. I felt Continental GT didn't ignite the feeling, felt just like riding my FZ. Also I had pretty long test ride of about 25 mins as luckily for me they had to refuel their test bike and allowed me to do that with a RE employee as a pillion. In plain words, I didn't like it. Felt much better when I rode RS200 though. CBR250R was great but it was lacking power just like RS200 and felt the bike's getting old.

Next were the KTM faired twins, the bikes felt nice, I didn't feel uncomfortable, FYI I'm 6'1, 80kgs and pretty fit. But main reason I didn't go for that bike was that I go on tours and that bike isn't for that and I'm more of a street fighter fan. Also, the fear of getting the fairing wrecked which would burn my (father's) wallet.

So it came down to Duke 390 and TNT 300. Those were the ones which gave me a huge grin and satisfaction when I test rode both back to back. I was mesmerized by TNT 300's exhaust note, the bike felt nice and agile and thought that would be my bike. But no ABS, less power, the weight of some of 600cc superbikes made me pass on that. It was very hard as I had fell in love with its exhaust sound.

But Duke 390 had all except metal panels (), and it being a single. So went ahead and booked the bike on 4th of July, got it delivered today.
