Re: Looking for RE continental gt
My overall mileage since day one is 27.24 kmpl. The highest I have achieved was on a group ride and came to 45.03 kmpl. The lowest was 19.89 kmpl with peak traffic city riding. Performance is relative so whats acceptable to one may not apply to another. Regular maintenance isnt expensive really and the only hit to your pocket will come if have a fall or need to replace the tires prematurely (both of which happened in my case).Originally posted by sim7727 View Post

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT Review
Based on one and a half years of owning the bike, I can confidently address your questionsOriginally posted by antan_shank View PostHi,
Have some myth that needs to cleared by continental GT owners:
a. Mileage of the bike is around 15-16 KM/l.
b. Vibrations are such that we can't go above 110 KM/hr.
c. Heating effect of the engine, to such an extend that one riders jeans burnt.
Please let me know if someone has faces such issues, I am considering continental GT as an option for future buy with TB 500.
a. Incorrect. The worst I have achieved is 19.x and best is 45.x kmpl. My average since day one is 27.x kmple. I really doubt it can go down to 15 - 16 kmpl.
b. Subjective. The bike has some vibes but it isnt enough to make you stop going above 110kmph. The main question is how far / long do you want to ride like that. I can do 200+ km rides with good triple digit speeds. I cant take that for longer distances though so I consciously slow down to a comfortable 100 kmph for really long rides. (PS - Im not advocating high speeds on public roads, if you pick your destination you can be blessed with empty roads and no traffic).
c. Unless he sat on a hot engine and burnt his jeans I dont see how that could have happened.

Re: RE Continental GT (Cafe Racer)
Like what neil said, I find the performance more than enough for my kind of riding and this bike can easily munch miles if you are comfortable on it - that's relative too. Honestly if you are a bit out of shape esp from the belly area u'll have some trouble but apart from that nothing to worry about on maintaining since end of the day it's an Enfield so parts won't burn ur banks

RE Continental GT Worst Experience
Hi,
So I purchased GT around 2 months ago from South Delhi. This is my first bike from RE. I also own a KTM 200 for little over 2 and a half years. Loved the bike's retro look and good torque, initially. And that's where all good things end. On second day after the delivery, I noticed oil leakage around the gear stick area. Took the bike to the service center, they tried something and same thing after a day or two. Took it again and they were like 'it's RE, leakage is very common' . HUH ? . Okay well I am paying 2L for your premium bike and that's what I should know that it's a RE and leakage will be there. Fine.
Some how I ignored the leakage and tried to enjoy the ride and bike. Took my bike for the first service and to my surprise, they treated it as if it's regular 350. Same brand-less engine oil, same unprofessional mechanics checking the bike, ( basically doing nothing ). They give a quick hurried shower, did the quick oil change, lubed the chain with god knows what and that's it.
Bike felt terrible after that, engine felt so breathless, FI was behaving so erratic, rear tyre felt so wobbly, everything. Screws kept falling out of the speedo area. So basically 5 days I was marching to the after sales service and Nothing.
After few days leakage started from the engine ( head ) area a lot. Had a puncture too which was a nightmare because no local mechanic could fix it and the tyres they have given are tubeless but with a tube ? Well to maintain stability. So basically I had to wait a day for someone to come from the ASC and fix it. Wobbling still there, I could see rust already in many areas. Now I am just playing the mail-game with them. But I am so sure that with craftsman ship they have built the engine and other things and looking at their ASales team, I will get zero help.
To summarize : I will never buy any RE bike, they still have no clue how to properly seal an engine. How to make parts and bikes more reliable. Engine performance is still very poor considering today's engineering. I am so regretting that I wasted money on this instead I should have gone for HD street a little later. KTM is touching nearly 20K, never had a single problem. Many better bikes are available maybe for little more but atleast you will be saved from the horrific RE experience.

I am thoroughly enjoying the experience after the handle bar change. If you feel you need it, go for it. Two thumbs up!Originally posted by hareshjethwani View PostHi Neil, how is the new handle bar doing? Would like to know after your usage for a couple of months? Any short comings? neil would be really helpful if you can detail the process here too. or provide the link. In your post only the final finished output is visible but not the process of the same.
Like one important question for me on the Handlebar mount is " how the KTM handle-support is attached to the GT "fork-yoke"?. Were holes needed to be drilled ?

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT Review
Hi Kaushik, honestly I dont have too many specifics on the process as I wasnt around while they were doing the actual work. At a high level though, it was fairly straight forward. They removed the existing handlebars (these are quite heavy!), procured the parts from KTM, got the holes drilled (this took a day or two) and then just put it all together. I do recall them mentioning some minor adjustments had to be made while they were installing the KTM parts but I have recollection of what it involved. Since IndiMotard has done this earlier, there wasnt any real experimentation to figure out what and how it had to be done.Originally posted by Kaushik Iyer View Post@neil would be really helpful if you can detail the process here too. or provide the link. The other option they did mention was a Triumph Speed (or was it Street?) Triple's handlebar instead of the KTM one but that would have proven to be a costly proposition so I dropped it.
