Re: Rear tyre for Continental GT-535
CEAT started distributing Pirelli and should be available at listed dealers. RE dealers are hopeless in sourcing Pirellis and its priced insane there, more than Metzlers.Originally posted by Kiowa Rider View Post

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT Review
Glad that I could have helped. Since my left hand had taken a lot of time to get used to the new handlebars, to be doubly sure we measured the alignment while dropping off the bike at Indimotard. The height on each side were slightly off since the alignment of the bar was not correct (refer to the 3rd last picture on page 23 of my TBHP thread and you will see). Got it adjusted while picking it up after the track day but then I felt that the reach was slightly off which they again rechecked and said was ok. I wasnt able to use the bike all week and last weekend I went back to them since I was sure it wasnt perfect. We found that the gap from the base of the tank cap to either end of the bars (basically a circumference test) wasnt matching this time with one side being closer to the tank. So one more round of adjustments and test riding but I found that the heights werent matching again. More adjustments! Now it's a lot better but probably not 100% perfect yet. It might need one more round of fiddling with to make it spot on. Im doing hardly any riding these days so its not a deal breaker for me right now.Originally posted by hareshjethwani View PostGot the handlebars done. What a difference. Awesome ! Makes a lot of difference going into corners, going for long rides, weaving through the traffic. Will post the pics shortly. Thanks to neil for the review.
I had a question for fellow owners, what engine oil are you using for the GT? Ive done 5,000 kms with the Motul 5100 15w50 (with some occasional top ups due to the slow leaking). Just ordered for Motul 300V 15w50 from Amazon, they are being offered at a great price of Rs 624 today. Lets see how the bike behaves with a fully synthetic engine oil.

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT Review
To be honest, I quite liked the 5100 engine oil for the Continental GT and it is a good VFM option with an MRP of Rs 575. Given that the engine on my bike leaks a bit, Ive had to top it up on occasion and bought an additional 1 litre pack of the 5100 for this.Originally posted by Kaushik Iyer View PostI've also been using 5100 engine oil. the bike performs a lot better with this than their standard oil. I'd be waiting to hear your feedback on the fully-synthetic oil.
At it's MRP of Rs 1150, the FS 300V is double the cost of the 5100. It will be better for sure, but twice as good? Thankfully the low pricing on Amazon made it a no brainer. Will share the details once I switch the oils and do some riding.

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT Review
FS Oils have a tendency to leak from engines which are not built with very close tolerances. Keep an eye for leaks once you switch oils. I assume REs will have this problem, though i could be wrong!Originally posted by neil.jericho View PostTo be honest, I quite liked the 5100 engine oil for the Continental GT and it is a good VFM option with an MRP of Rs 575. How about the Motul 7100 ?
I also use the 5100 owing to the smoothness and the pricetag(i get mine from snapdeal)
You will notice that the engine smoothness increases with successive oil changes. Although the acceleration and top-end definitely decreases.

Re: RE Continental GT (Cafe Racer)
I have been using the 5100. Not too sure about the 300v,when i checked with my mechanic he said it will not make much of a difference with full synthetic. But price wise the 5100 seems vfm. Got the bar end dampers fabricated too for the mirrors. Used the stock mirrors initially but was not too comfortable nor did i like how they looked. Have ordered the greasehouse exhaust from amazon which is available for 3500/- now. Again thanks to neil for the review of the exhaust
. More than the sound of it I prefer the looks which seems in lines with the size of the bike, else the stock exhaust looks out of place being so long. And as neil has pointed out that it weighs quiet less compared to stock. Now the reduced weight makes a difference? Or as Navjot Singh Siddhu always says "its all in the mind guru" lol

Thanks for the heads up, a few of my friends have also warned me of the same. I will keep track of how it behaves after switching over. The fact that there is a bit of a leak with the 5100 itself doesnt bode well but the 300V is an inexpensive experiment at worst and a smoother ride at best.Originally posted by The Monk View PostFS Oils have a tendency to leak from engines which are not built with very close tolerances. To my knowledge the 7100 come with either 10W40 or 20W50 ratings while the GT calls for 15W50 oil.Originally posted by dnewguy View PostYep.

How much is the Vertigo Rage retailing for? Do share experiences with the tire as you clock more miles as it will help all of us.Originally posted by Kiowa Rider View PostThanks Deville. I finally managed to get a CEAT Vertigo Rage 130/80-18 & am enjoying the new rubber
Glad that I could have been of help, the IndiMotard exhausts are really light when compared to the stock one and sound quite fabulous. I was sitting on the fence for quite some time but finally decided against an after market exhaust as I would have then justified to myself that I need a Power Commander as well (Hitchcocks sells them at around 300 pounds before tax) which would have proved to be quite wallet busting. Incidentally I met a gentleman who has got the same handlebar modification done on his GT and he mentioned that he had the IndiMotard exhaust and a Power Commander installed as well. With these mods, the throttle response was great in his opinion.Originally posted by hareshjethwani View PostI have been using the 5100. I agree with you, in the real world, the lighter weight probably doesnt make a noticeable difference. If one were pushing the envelope and taking the bike to the track and looking to set aggressive lap times, then definitely the lighter weight is appreciated.
Do share pictures of the bar end dampers that you got fabricated.

You can try with an eye on the oil level.

Can you share a pic from bottom of the fork-yoke?Originally posted by hareshjethwani View PostSome pics of the handle bar. Pardon the quality of pics, these are just from the phone.
on the exhaust, ive been sitting on the fence as well. what im afraid of is loosing a pleasant sound of the stock exhaust. Since most aftermarket exhausts tend to sound pretty bad and loud. I'd like a muted thump
