ash gt speed ... Not the Duke , but the RC 390

damn , from 9kg to a 3kg exhaust , with added 3 kg reduction from the center stand there will be some obvious performance improvement

Have you seen the cafe racer made by Rajputana Customs ?

Obviously you must have [emoji6] it is the law [emoji12]

Hi Ash. Kudos to you man. You really are putting the racer in the cafe racer . At the rate you are going, yours may become the first GT in country to actually do a Ton up (100mph or ~ 160kph). I have a couple of queries for you if you dont mind.
1) Why PC5? At less than half the cost you can get RD ecu that has option for different maps, if I remember correctly.
2) Did you get all imported stuff by mail? What was the customs duty, especially for the full exhaust?

Oh ok bro. yeah man the rc390 is a great bike as well. after buying the conti gt i was really close to buy that bike as well but due to some social reasons i was not able to. There is more weight that has to be reduced still. I am going to fitting a lithium ion battery soon too that is going to reduce another 3kgs.
Now that we have removed pretty much everything off the bike i am now going to be replacing stock parts with custom lightweight parts soon too.
yeah man i saw the cafe racer mr vijay singh made its just a jem that he has made.
i had the opportunity of going to jaipur and visiting his shop. he had a cafe racer in his shop which was made out from a classic 500 bullet. it had upside down forks, mono shocks and a awsom cafe racer design. i will be uploading some of the pics of that cafe racer soon.
i good friend of mine is lucky enough to own a rc390 and a conti gt thats what i wanted to do. and the thing in this buying decision is clear the rc390 is bike in which everything is been given to you already there is not much room for customization. although i love the performance and value that bike delivers but i know one day i will get bored of the bike and trade the bike for a higher cc bigger bike. This is where the conti gt is different. This bike grown with you and u grow with it. thinking about things you wanna do with it and mapping things in your mind. i dont think my bike will ever be finished. i am never going to sell this thats for sure. i am going to leave it to a family member or friend before i die.
One thing that is just priceless for me in this bike is that what ever it does it is never ever boring. you really get a feeling that its alive.
still feel the same way when i take the cover off it in the morning like the way i felt when i saw it in the showroom the very first time. still that excitement has not phased off.

thanks for the appreciation brother. yeah bro me and many other guys in the group have got the same vision for the conti gt, is to make it a single minded hardcore cafe racer. thats were the fun is you know.
i was considering a race dynamics ecu re map but they had not launched a ecu re map for the conti gt. i think still they haven't released a performance re map for the gt. These guys in uk called hitchcocks mapped a power commander 5 specifically for the conti gt fitted with a k and n filter and free flow exhaust. so at that time that was the only option. although its expensive but its a must do investment in order to increase performance.
yeah man i get the imported stuff from mail. i didnt have to pay any custom duty on the exhaust system as the sender mr steve carpenter send the parcel to me as a gift. when u send things as a gift from overseas u dont have to pay customs duty in india.
but with the power commander 5 and lightweight 38 teeth sproket i had to pay 26 % duty. i requested those guys if they can send me the stuff as a gift but they dont do that so i had to pay 26 % duty on my stuff.
cheers mate. any other question do let me know.

Holy ( put a string of verbal slurs here ) .... I would sell my soul to the devil to get that beast of a machine ! And maybe a few more , if required 3

I have never seen any bike from them sporting a mono shock setup , until now ... and boy she looks goooood That exhaust tip does looks a lot like a firearm muzzle .
These guys know how to make hearts and minds thump .

Is that you on the bike ? If yes , then you are one lucky guy !

The other bike beside it looks like something based on an Avenger .... But I have heard that they only work on Royal Enfields . Is it ?

Wow ... It is a holy pilgrimage indeed for bike fanatics

I love that crossed katar designs they have used on the clip on handlebars .... It fits rightfully on a bike bearing the brand of " rajputana " after all

I now wonder that such a beauty would look with some alloys , like the one they have beside the bike in the second last picture

As most have earnestly mentioned, I too bow to Vijay Singh of Rajputana Customs, for his drool worthy executions.

Love the way he names all his bikes in a hindustani way.

Lately my wife has been complaining about the ride being very stiff & that she's feeling a whole lot of jerks while on our way to office - thanks to absolutely moon like roads due to the monsoons!

I was wondering can the rear suspension be softened? I read that the Paioli shocks on the GT are with adjustable preload. So can I adjust it to a softer setting? if so how can I go about it.

I'm in no mood to change the suspension coz not only it looks the part on the bike but I feel it to be quite good. But if a change is required then which suspensions can I look out for. Any help will be appreciated.

Where the yellow spring ends, the grooved silver disc on which the spring rests has to be twisted. I think clockwise should make it harder and anti-clockwise should make it softer. Though i could be wrong. The same setting has to be replicated on the other side as well.

Softening the suspension would make the ride more bouncy and cornering not as much fun.

From xBhp's review of the GT -

The suspension is on the firmer side that favors better road manners at a slight compromise to comfort. The compromise however would be more for the pillion as he sits the furthest from the center of rotation of the bike.

Yes as I said. I feel the suspension to be very nice, but my wife doesn't! So have to make it softer atleast for commutes.

That pic look like it's fully maxed out suspension.

I'll try on mine & update my experience here.

So I changed the suspension setting during my 4th & last service.

I've moved the ring about 4 turns above & I must say both me & my wife a really happy with this change. The bike has become a lot more supple over pot-holes & greatly comfortable over highways aswell. Even in slow 10-15kmph driving going over undulations or speed-breakers is now much more pleasurable than before. All in all this has also improved handling to some extent since the bike now doesn't throw us back anymore if we hit a bump at 60-70kmph on the highway.

Also done with my 4th service, these guys seems to have tinkered with the breaks a bit & it's now feels a little less in stopping power. Uptill now I've not experienced any major issues other than battery charging light which come on during night commute & The gear-rear set become a bit loose & I had to get it tightened. Till now I'm pretty satisfied with the quality of this bike.

I'm now wishing to install a new exhaust but I like the stock subtle throaty sound, but was looking for something which retains that & stays parallel to the ground to help in installing panniers for multi-day trips. Any suggestions on this will be welcome. I'd prefer if something is available locally for me to personally see & hear it.
