nothing worse bro.. everyone here has some issue or the other in their fz.. and most of those issues are due to the shitty oil yamaha is using.. when the engine is cool.. it is smooth.. with less vibes.. better gear shifts.. quick self starts

if it weren't for the warranty.. i would've switched to Motul by now.. hell i would've given up on the warranty if i were confident enough on yamaha

i have tried both the mineral and synthetic oil from yamaha and both are equally worse.. the synthetic oil was doing okay till like 500kms when I did a stressful ride with a pillion of around 70kms.. and since then it has lost its viscosity permanently..

Btw I never had problems with Yamalube Sporty Premium engine oil, just didn't liked its viscosity than other 10w40 oils. Is good for normal commuting but don't worked well for me in heavy traffic and hot weather of Gujarat.

Regarding noise I agree with you, it won't go away, I myself use 10w50 (Elf Moto 4 Tech & Castrol Power1 Racing) grade to reduce noise. Current odo is almost 10k kms. SVC used to either adjust tappet or would give excuses like noise & engine heating will there because of their aluminuim engine parts.
Even the Version 3 also has this noise issue.
Its purely the design fault from the yamaha.
How is the performance with the castrol power 1 racing??

What you can do is skip oil change at service without letting Yamaha svc to know. That way you won't loose warranty.

If you still want to maintain warranty or have fear regarding other grade oil then you could opt for similar grade oil like Yamalube then try Idemitsu Fully synthetic 10w40 (OEM for Suzuki & Honda motorcycles) have heard from my friends it works equal to Motul. Have no personal experience in my motorcycle but have good experience with their oil in my car (is OEM oil for Honda & Toyota cars).

FZ v3 is basically V2.0 with facelift or new panels in imo.
Most owners won't agree with me so I apologise.
Yamaha engineers have done nothing new in engine department (Engine is same), except for bit tuning and exhaust sound, that's why is having noise & heating issue like v2.

I used Castrol Power Racing when odo clocked 5k+ kms, shifting from Yamalube Sporty Premium. Engine felt quite better, but not equal like Elf oil. Heating management and shifting were better than Yamalube. Did Drain running after 4kms. Could had stretched to 4.5kms but always safer to change oil at 4k.

(Btw If you're or anyone is planning to use Castrol oil then buy from Official dealers or Castrol bike zone. Else you may end with fake bottle.)

i would suggest you to go through the last few pages of this thread and see the problems which owners are facing in the fz.. if you are fine with those problems then you may consider the fz

I am a Hornet owner and apart from stiff suspension, i have no problems with it. It's smooth , can cruise beautifully in highways, low maintenance , sharp brakes and best in class power and torque ( among Japanese 150cc air cooled segment). U may consider the new gixxer, apart from high pillion seat, it's a fun to ride bike with new looks [emoji106]

As a FZ-S owner I still consider it as one of the best handling & smooth engine motorcycle in 150-160cc segment but have cons too like it has lowest than its rivals but you won't feel it in city, on highways or open roads you may feel motorcycle struggling. But its meant only for city riding or occasional highway rides.

If you're planning to purchase one, check your nearest service center's after sales service, then decide. My suggestion would be go for Hornet or Apache 160 carb version.

BS6 Compliant Yamaha FZ- FZ-S power figures are leaked. Instead of bringing new engine, Yamaha has reduced power from 13.1 bhp to 12.2 bhp. [emoji53] Click image for larger version

                        Hi,

I changed my front tyre to MRF massetr 100\80. But there was a wobbling in front tyre. So i change to zapper now. But still wobbling continues. What are the causes for wobbling? Wheel balancing also done while changing tyre.

Check for any rim bends, handle bar balancing or worn out bearings. Those are the culprits most of the time. If your handle conset (ball bearings) is messed, your handle won't stay stable.

Hi guys. i've been a silent reader a year ago. Finally i bought my FZ 2.0 and i'm also having this problem with the sound in the engine (like tappets but they aren't). so i've investigated and found this video, which is in spanish but i will make you a resume in english.

                              /watch?v=IUIxNQMbJyM&t
                              /watch?v=awIn5Vxr8VE

the guy basically says that the sound comes from a axial play in the OHC. which can be solved in two different ways:

                              1. there are two sizes of OHC, (probably from a older version or something, the video doesn't tell exactly), so you can get the OHC larger or you can use those iron rings (dont know the name in english) that are used with the bolts (not the hexagonal ones, the circle ones which are very slim) to prevent the axial play on the OHC. as shown on minute 3:00 of the video 2

                              2. blend the black X-shaped steel towards inside (this piece holds the OHC) so it helps to prevent the axial play. as shown in 4:31 of the video 2

I havent tested it yet, because my bike is pretty new (in Colombia Yamaha still selling the 2.0 ), so i dont want to void the warranty. can someone try it and tell us the result?
