At the showrooms I asked , Pacer Yamaha(Hebbal) and Perfect Riders(Shivanand Circle) also offered the same. I'm also leaning towards taking it for convenience. I bought my bike from Vinayak Yamaha, Domlur.
Liberty Videocon was the only insurance the showroom provided. Almost all Yamaha showrooms I checked with offered the same. So I just went with it for hassle-free delivery.

After a few initial hiccups, the gears were falling in place - thanks to the Youtube Vloggers who explained this while doing their bike reviews. The downshifting and the sudden hike in rpm on consol was something new.
I am having trouble understanding gear shifting. In car, I change as per the vibrations (Alto 800) and roughly follow 10-20 - 2nd gear, 20-30 - 3rd gear, 30-40 - 4th gear, 40+ - 5th gear. On FZ, I'm shifting up at 3000- 4000 rpm when the engine is revving. When is it apt to shift down? As soon as I get hold of uphill and gearshifting, I'll be hitting the roads for office commute.
Things I wish this bike had: 1) Separate direction indicators displaying which side is actually on. 2) Closed pillion grab rail which could double up as helmet lock. 3) Gear indicator.
Nothing great to say about showrooms. I had visited 5 Yamaha, 2 Honda, 2 Suzuki and a Bajaj Showroom. After I had decided on FZ, I chose the one which had many reviews (implying it sells many bikes) and not many bad reviews. None of them sold me the bike, I just bought it from one of them. Everyone just want you to book the vehicle instantly, pay immediately and get it delivered whenever you want it. 3 pages related to PDI from was torn from the Service & Warranty Handbook even before I could read it. When asked, I was told that it was for filing! The mechanic who came during delivery had some words of advice.
Buying the bike was otherwise a great learning experience. XBHP & youtube reviews (Sawant Life, Rachamalla, Faizal Khan, Dino, Bigbang biker) helped me zero in on this bike. Congrats on your new bike. Upshifting at 3-4k is good for break in period. Downshift according to your driving speed. Dont complicate with the rpm meter. Just downshift with the speed. Keep driving regularly , you will get it easily. After some days you will find riding bike more fun than gearless scooters.Originally posted by shravanad View PostHello XBHPians,

Also its a good choice you selected yamaha fz, because honda bikes are not that great in handling and for newbie it would have been safe with fz. Happy motoring[emoji3]

When you ride casually , you can shift at 4000 rpm, if you are riding hard then shift up at 6000 rpm. If the bike has not crossed 1000 kms, don't keep the bike over 4000 rpm for long time.Originally posted by shravanad View PostHello XBHPians,

Help... I have installed 40t chain sprocket in my bike( version 1 chain sprocket) . Changed from a local mechanic( had a medical problem and was not able to go to svc which is 23 kms from my home). Will it cause any problem to the engine or fuel injection system?

The numbers mentioned on the booklets and on coupons are ODO meter reading. Once you touch ~2900 KM on odometer, go for service. Dont look at trip meters. Look at ODO.Originally posted by djmacpro View Postdoubt for 2nd free service**

You asked this question, so putting it in detail.
If you miss by one km, you will lose warranty and extended warranty, if you have paid for it.

Hello as per the service coupon the 2nd free service is scheduled For 3000 kms or 130 days from date of purchase of motorcycle whichever is earlier. So currently my odo reads 1700+ kms so should I do my 2nd service when my odo reads approx 2950 kms or the 1000 kms (prior to 1st free service) + 2950 kms i.e. 3950 kms. Also mention the points which I need to get done during this 2nd free service. Since my daily commute is of total 47 kms the odo is munching at faster rate compared to date of purchase. The 2nd free service is mentioned on 23rd may 2018 but I guess 2950 kms will be completed in April itself

Yamaha FZ-S Fi Exhaust pipe bend
Hi,
My Yamaha -FZ-S Fi V2.0 exhaust bend pipe got a big hole because of rust. Need to replace that exhaust pipe elbow. Can you suggest a mechanic who can fix it and also notify where can I get the exhaust bend pipe for Yamaha - FZ-s FI V2.0 in Chennai.

See, it seems your clutch lever free-play is more, I mean, clutch lever is loose, make it 10mm as instructed in manual, then reply back what happened. A worn out clutch will not allow smoother shifts & also you will feel lag while accelerating hard.Originally posted by ashvns View PostYes... Many a times engine stops... You can do a check, put your bike on the center stand start the bike & put it on the first gear, when your rear wheel starts spinning press the rear brake. If you see that the bike did not stall then your clutch plates have 100% gone kaput.Last edited by Rajdip Saha; 03-02-2018, 10:03 PM.
