Hi Guys,

Clocked 12.5k kms. Have anybody used both Motul 5100 and 7100 10-w40 oils? Please tell me what differences you found and if its worth going for fully synthetic. Does these affect mileage?

Dear Fellow Owners, I need your help in buying this beast for myself and I am looking forward to some suggestions and advice please.

I went to purchase the bike(ABS version) yesterday. This will be the very first bike of my life...more special because I am buying it on my own hard earned money. I am staying in Delhi and there's been a new showroom which opened very near to my house.
I went there and the showroom had 2 Gixxers on display and mostly suzuki access as people were buying more scooties.


Here comes the part I have problem with and I need help from all of you whoever can contribute your opinion :
When I finalized the blue colored bike and was about to pay the money, I noticed that the showroom guys started cleaning up the bike which was on display. Since it was on display, I immediately resisted and asked them to give me a fresh bike from godown. To my surprise, firstly the dealer said that they only have these 2 bikes for now and they will sell off only these. They have opened 3 days ago, so don't have much stock.


May be they were not anticipating any people to come and buy bikes , but only scooters, but this is just a guess. Since the bike was on display, my only fear was last 3 days , many people might have come and sat on it..Kept on playing with clutch / brake levers , although it had it's battery disconnected. Therefore I am assuming wasn't used for test rides. The treads on tires were intact and looked as new as they are. But there were very minor scratches near the tank , hardly visible as people coming and having demo might have done it. Also, I noticed a small 1 inch mark which seemed like a finishing paint job issue . It felt like the mark where spray paint ends . I looked at the other gixxer standing there and it didn't have it. But the dealer insisted , that this finishing thing is there on every blue bike. The biggest problem was that in this case, it seemed like there was no chance of rejecting the bike in pre delivery inspection , incase I felt there was something not right, but the dealer constantly insisted that the bike is brand new and you will not face any issues.


Finally, I went to another established showroom, which were asking 5K more than the newly inaugurated one. The salesman here says that he will get the bike from the godown and will not give me the display bike. Now, since my wife was along with, she planted another thought that how do you know that what bike they will give you from the godown was not on display last month here. What if they rotated the bikes on display.


So my questions are :
1. It seems like the dealers cannot be trusted these days and there is no reliability of what you are getting. Only some tips to ensure that bike has not run and doesn't have some minor manufacturing defects like paint job or something else.
So, will it really matter if I take the bike from any showroom, the newly opened or established showroom ?


2. Given the details I have provided about the newly opened showroom , Do you think it is the right option to go for as they are only selling bikes on display because their stock is less ? The only advantage is it is costing me 5k less with a minor paint job thing which I will not care to look much.


3. Going by the new dealer, will it be a better bet if I will be there first few customers as far as service is concerned. Or , all service centres will be equally bad.




One important thing I want to mention is that both these showrooms (new and established) only had their showrooms . There workshops are located 5-8 km from the showrooms.


Looking forward for some help as I would like to finalize something today.

This guy is from Indonesia & the speedometer is from Suzuki Satria 150 same as in Gixxer. Look at the way he is changing the orange display to color display. We need to get that backlit sticker here in India. It is not avbl in any of our online shopping sites or in big automobile store. The sites he mentioned in the description don't have international shipping. If anyone found that sticker somewhere pls inform me & i'm ready to change my bike's speedometer to color display.

I haven't counted it but now it feels like rotating freely..it keeps on rotating for 4-5secs!!

Can you tell me how much times does the wheel rotates after pushing the front wheel with hand without pulling the lever ?

Problem sorted
Disassembled the brakes, changed that screw kind of thing & packed it back..now wheel is feeling super light & disc isn't heating as well..as of now I can surely say that the problem has been resolved.

I took my bike to a different mechanic, he told me that the problem is just cuz of this broken screw(image attached).

This may be the answer you're looking for. It's probably an issue with fluid. That's gotta to be it. Must be the same reason why you feel resistance from tyre as well.

Your pads are touching the disc. Could be due to incorrect alignment or irregular fluid pressure in the brake line or faulty brake lever.

Front wheel has nothing to do with the transmission. Once again if theres resistance on spinning the front wheel then its because the pads are grabbing the disc + there might be some irregularity with the front axle.

Disc aren't getting worn out, it neither showing any signs of metal rubbing on to it nor i can hear any such sound but it heats up to that extent when i pour some water on it after very short ride(less than 50km), it evaporates!!

Did you get the tyre pressures checked? About the disc pads, the heating up maybe due to the fact that the pads might be touching the disc slightly or there's some adjustment issues with the calipers or the fluid exertion pressure maybe. Maybe a portion of the pad touches the disc even when it's not supposed to. Also, what kind of heat are we talking of? If it's ambient heat due to surrounding, it maybe common. Or if your disc has worn out due to heavy usage, it might be time for a replacement I guess.
