    Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155

I have gixxer 155 first version. I used to give it to the Suzuki service center in Adyar, Chennai. Since i shifted house to Thoraipakkam, i had been giving it to Athvith suzuki center at Karpakkam, Chennai since for a year. I have constantly been having issues with their service.
Last service, they replace clutch handle and number plate which i never asked for. I was already frustrated with their service that i told them to remove them or refund me the amount. The manager(i am guessing), told me that refund is not possible since bill is generated and said he will reduce it in from the bill next time.

2 months later, on 2st March 2019, i am at the place for my next service. I told him before giving itself about refund. When i went to collect the bike in the evening, i didnt see any deductions and i asked him. He said he reduced the price for 'Rear brake caliper' and 'Clutch Overhaul'. I had my doubts but i couldnt do anything then.

I came home. Checked my older bills and found that last service(the first attached image) also i was charged for 'Rear brake caliper assy' and it was the same price!!There was no change. I am not sure how much the 'overhaul' costs as i dont have any bill with that.

Can someone let me know if the price is as in the attached images? If so, i know i was not given any refund.

Also, these folks always messes up the chain every time i give it for service. It starts making this crackling sound the very next day onwards. My friend told me because the loose and tight end is not set properly. The sound is pretty loud and its sad to hear it while i drive bike around. I had to always give my bike a second time for last 3 services because of chain alone. I am wasting my time and energy on this. I want to go to their manager will whatever info i have and get this sorted out for good. I also wanted to mail suzuki head/support with this.

I have been maintaing my bike well for 2+ years. I always accept what the service folks says to ensure my bike runs smoothly as ever. Now i am just frustrated. Can you also guide me on how best to go about this? How can icomplaint so they take care of my bike next? How can i be sure service was done well since next time? Is there a checklist?

FYI-I had created a thread but i guess it is not approved. If it is, ill share the thread link here for future reference

    Update 3/6/2019:
So i raised an enquiry request from site to Maya Suzuki branch, Adyar asking for price of few specific things. Mainly the overhaul. I got the price and as expected there was no deduction. Suprisingly, for one, the price i was asked to pay was more. See the details in the image below. On the right is the price i got for the part code

    Part code - Price

    GA03R0 -216
    DC01R0 -108
    MK09H0-108

    Update 2:
A service guy came to sort out the chain issue. When he came, the chain was dry. He thought I haven't tightened or lubed the chain for a long time and told me to do it every 1000kms. As expected, he was surprised when I told him I gave for service 3 days back only. I also told him I clean and lube every 300kms.

I confronted the manager over call on this. I asked him by they charged me 47₹ for chain lube when it was not done. He told me grease was applied and it dries up. I asked him why would you put something that dries up in two days and then mention in bill it is lube and charge so much.*

I asked him then why do the service guys state they use motul lube and that the mechanic used 3M. He was like we use 3M motul. They are two different companies!! !*

Really disheartening this entire episode has been.*

Hi. I have been facing low mileage issues. The bike is 1800 km done with 3 free services. The average ranges from 33 to 42. 42 is the best average I ever got. I made a complaint during the 3rd free service (Kumar Suzuki, Gurgaon) the guy said he did some setting. However the average went further down to 33-34 from 40-42. I drive usually between 45-60 kmph. Can someone help me understand why am I getting such low mileage. I read Gixxer atleast gives 40+ however harsh you drive.

I had checked this forum only and found that its not necessary to change spark plug after every 8K km. Cleaning it after every 4-6k km can increase its utilization till 20-25k km. Is that true?

Also do you follow the service manual strictly for replacement of parts like the oil filter, air filter, spark plug etc. Or do you check if they need replacement and proceed that accordingly? When did you change all these components?

PS: I added some more info in my original post. Please share your views on it too. It's regarding my left hand getting blackened after riding the bike.
Some ASC are really careless and they dont prefer doing anything if you dont insist on them. As per my knowledge 17k kms without air filter replacement is too much, you are bound to get drop in acceleration. So, change it immediately by buying the air filter which costs Rs 100 and even you can replace it .
yeah spark plug lasts long if the ASC clean it properly by spark plug sand blasting machine which i recently saw at my SC and it looked like new after cleaning. Cant say about its utilization till 20-25k kms because im not a person who goes beyond its expectation.
Also as you have said about tuning your carburetor dont dont it if you are getting a good average

See i replace my engine oil and oil filter(every engine oil change) at home because i like to bring out every drip of old oil from the engine which the ASC dont do it properly. Change air filter, spark plug when necessary. I'm also planning to bleed my both brake lines with new oil. I try to follow the manual because the company who made the manual have tested and analysed the bike and has referred us so that the bikes remains in pristine conditions but sometimes i dont because there is thing called experience which comes into play. I hope you understand it.

i cant say but that wrist getting blackened , it might be grease or oil or paint from your clutch lever, check it properly.

it wouldnt, as i have also done it but with increase usage the pads form grooves where sand and dust stick to it and its hard for the water to take it out , so it doesnt work.i usually sand it whenever i get that squeaking sound

I am observing the following problems in my bike. Anyone, please help resolve them.
    1. My headlight bulb has fused twice. Is it because of AHO or some battery related issue?
    2. The bike used to be very smooth when was new. It seems to not go above 100k/hr. Too much vibration and the engine feels resilient. Smoothness has also decreased.
    3. Sometimes, only sometimes, it feels like tyres are touching the disks, most probably rear one. I rarely have heard choo choo noise too. But when I stand the bike on the main stand and rotate both the tyres, they seem to rotate normally. Have got this checked with 2-3 service centres and normal service shops, they say it is normal.
    4. I am seeing some rust formation near the gear peg.
    5. Paint has come off from front mudguard and handlebar near the keyhole.
    6. Seat. It's just a disaster. I want to add foming but do not want to remove the original colour. Is it possible? How much does a seat modification cost tentatively?
    7. Rear footrest (near the saree protector, attached near the rear tyre. Not the foot peg present at each side)seems very small. Service center guys said, they cannot change it. The bike will have with whatever it came with. Duh!! The local service guy said to weld extra iron to increase the size. Is that so?

Since I will be buying a new headlight bulb, can I go ahead with Phillips Nighteye or can it also get fuse?

Firstly i want to say that i'm also a proud owner of 2017 gixxer sf and by looking at the issues you facing you should have also mentioned ODO you have covered so far and whats the riding style you mostly prefer.
    1. The stock bulbs are not good but if they cut out then you cant do anything other than fixing it with a new one. I think AHO here is to blame battery is nothing to do with it .
    2. check your air filter, it might need replacement.
    3. this was the problem which i too faced after covering 10k kms on my bike, its nothing but the disk pads get dirty due to prolong usage and they needs cleaning which can simply be done by pulling both diskpads out from the caliper and rub it on flat surface on sand paper of grit 100. Just dont forget that you shouldnt use rear disk when the pads are out or it might cause a problem if air gets into brake line. Or else ask the service centre guys to clean the pads .
    4. its normal it will show signs of rust as you use your bike. What i do is I dont ride bike on rainy days which prevents my bike to get dirtly and rust
    5. Paint used by suzuki is not satisfactory even to me as well, cant help it out .you can simply take out the front mudguard and handle bar and repaint it using spray cans they arent expensive.
    6. even i hate the stock seat but i like the way it is . Simple adding foam wouldnt costs more than Rs 400.
    7. If you are not satisfied with the ladies footrest then you are open to after market ones, you will find tonnes of them .

For the headlight i have added a switch to my aho model without any stripping made to the stock wiring and philips h4 xtreme vision 55/60w bulb(only use if you have added switch to your headlight or else you might end up burning your reflector). I drive quite nicely. Change gears as soon as possible and try to bring the bike to 5th gear. Then normally ride 45-70Km/hr.

I am observing the following problems in my bike. Anyone, please help resolve them.

Both are good and smoother than the idemitsu one. Mileage didn't get affected by them. However, I do feel pickup of the bike had reduced a bit for 15w50.

I personally did not find much difference as compared to Motul 7100 too.
Good to know someone has tried here earlier but for me when i used 20w50 it gave a lag in acceleration. So after that i have sticked to recommended grade i.e 10w40. Motul earlier didnt had 5100 10w40grade here in India but now they have given us and im eager to try it. Yes its true 7100 doesnt provide any difference on gixxer as being a 155cc bike.
