Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Brother, check the user manual for the specifications of the stock bulb of Gixxer. If the upgrade bulb you are planning to install has higher wattage, then yes it will drain the battery and also it might void the warranty. So take all things into consideration before you move forward with any modification.Originally posted by gnan10 View PostI would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

It s an awesomely written account but 10k km cannot be counted as long term ownership hence I have no choice but to merge your thread in the existing thread.
Thanks!Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hey there. I've clocked 1700 kms so far and there's this "burning" smell coming from the engine area. It ain't happening after I'm ripping the engine, because I don't. Even after riding a few kilometers sanely, it's still there. Is this a trait of a naked bike? Or should I get it checked at the svc? It's raining here for the past couple of days, is this related to the rainwater anyhow? I cover it though, whenever it's about to rain. The engine isn't exposed to the rainwater.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I ordered philips x-treme vision plus a week after i got my bike as I couldn't see anything in the night. I went to the service center itself with the bulb and told them the difficulty I was facing. The manager said that he will help out as its a safety risk for me and he fixed the bulb and changed the position so the light will be aimed a bit more to the ground. He said warranty won't be void.Originally posted by gnan10 View PostHi Brothers,
After so much struggle between hornet and Gixxer finally decided to go with Gixxer Naked with Rear disc. As i have booked for White/blue dual toned version. Delivery will take some ten days. Planning to upgrade Gixxer's headlight right after taking delivery since i know the weakness of Gixxer's headlight(I've used my friend's bike for couple of days). If i use philips 65w bulb will it effect my battery?
Now coming to the bulb, the change was very noticeable. Now I can see much better and there has been no issue with the battery. I did a lot of research in this forum and asked a lot of people before buying. You can go ahead and put it. Actually i recommend you do it if you drive in the night a lot. You can go for the same one i went which is philips x-treme vision plus or you can go for osram nightbreaker. Osram comes in pack of two though but have heard a lot about it.

I had the same issue. I thought it was because of my driving and the hot weather outside(I'm from Chennai). It seems to have gone away after the second service. Not sure why though.Originally posted by Fagant View PostHey there. I've clocked 1700 kms so far and there's this "burning" smell coming from the engine area. I used philips x-treme vision plus 60/55w and trust me the difference was very noticeable. I bought it after people recommended this in the thread. Search back to old posts. I used to have second shift and hence leave office at around 11 in the night. I always had to follow a vehicle to see the road.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostThats a beautiful color. Did you TD the Hornet too? How was it compared to Gixxer?
Can the stock stator coil/battery handle a 65w? When some of them used a 55w on a stock GS, the results were not so expected, no improvement in lighting. Plus, you will be voiding warranty, if you are worried about it.
I see you are from TN. Before the bulb change. I went on a ride through ECR. I was going at snail's pace as I couldn't see anything. Especially when there is light from other vehicles.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I do drive on the OMR and ECR (less regularly). Reduce my speed from 65-70 to 45-50 kmph on the OMR once the toll ends as that is where the road lights start to disappear. I will give a try of what you suggested some time! Ride safe.Originally posted by aswinrulez View PostI used philips x-treme vision plus 60/55w and trust me the difference was very noticeable. Really thanks for clearing my doubt on 55w bulb. The one i have posted was 65w bulb. Any idea about that one?Originally posted by aswinrulez View PostI ordered philips x-treme vision plus a week after i got my bike as I couldn't see anything in the night. The bulb shown by you is of socket HB3 type. Gixxer has HS1 type socket for the headlamp. Use bulb with H4 type socket which is interchangeable with HS1.
