  • Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155

Guys, what's the option to fix a broken side lock. An attempted theft was avoided but left my side locks broken. Svc asked to weld at an outside mechanic shop. Need your suggestions.

Booked a black Suzuki Gixxer. They have given me a waiting period of one week. They said that they are getting new loads of 2016 models and that they are on their way. Hope they arrive soon.

Hey guys... Need help on couple of questions...
        1) what should be the clutch setting... I mean half clutch or full clutch... Reply with pros and cons please.

        2) What should be the correct idle rpm... I mean when the bike is not moving... In neutral... When you start the bike.. And when to set the rpm... When the engine is hot or you just started it

That's great to hear the 2016 model coming up. Do inform us if you see the rear disc version at showroom.

Sure, bro. However, the guys at the showroom said that the rear disk versions would only arrive in fall this year.

And guys another doubt, when I go get my bike, would it come with engine oil pre-filled? Or can I have a word with them to fill a specific oil? I'm asking this because I'm kind of afraid that they would use Idemitsu oil and not Motul.

Bikes come prefilled with engine oil from the factory itself. So i dont think that asking them to change the oil is possible. If you dont mind me asking, why do you want to switch to motul in a new bike?

                  1) Please elaborate- did not understand clutch Half/Full??? settings.
                  2) Idle RPM - Set always when engine is hot(General rule: don't tune anything unless it's hot after 15-20 mins ride). Turn the headlights ON and set RPM between 1300-1400. Then it will idle on 1200 when cold.

By Fall ! you mean end of 2016 ? I'm already waiting for a long time for rear disc version of Gixxer. End of the year is too long a wait for me. Thinking what I should do now.

Reply with pros and cons please. - Half clutch is not advisable.Half clutch you can feel as there would be more play(And the clutch engaging position would be far less, meaning quick pickups)half clutch usually use only for moving off in 1st gear or low speed control (like going through circuit course or when parking). If you don't half clutch and just release all the way the motorcycle will stall when moving off.Its basically pressing just 50% of the clutch.

Full clutch - Exact opposite of what i told for half clutch. Also in half clutch people feels pickup is more, nothing like that. Its just that the bike engages faster in half clutch as youa re just pressing 50 of clutch

When you star the bike in the morning keep the idle as 1.2K RPM.After you ride for some 5 Kms see if its hovering between 1.4RPM.
Then later when the engine is hot(you can feel thats the highest temp it can attain) the idle RPM shouldnt exceed above 1.6.If so then decrease it to 1.5.Later when the engine is dead cold start the bike and see if its starts within 2nd crank. If not icrease it by a litle amunt. That way you cna have a perfect RPm idle setting

Sitting straight back while riding is a wrong habit!! You need to hunch back.

I saw a ortho doctor explaining the sitting posture.

                        And he goes like this...

"When you sit straight the back bone will be strainght, so when there is some impact due to bumps it will be directly absorbed by the back bone resulting in back pain.
If you hunch back your back bone will be bent a little which acts as like some suspension or spring and reduces the impact. And bending the elbow is a correct one."

Your spine is already hunched a bit to absorb bumps. You needn't actually hunch it more.
The proper position is to sit with the back almost in a straight line (almost because as I said our spines are already a little hunched).
Even if on a race bike, you lean ahead in such a way that the back is in a straight line. You hold the bike with your thighs and not (just) with your hands.
Elbows should be bent, except for cruisers.

I don't know how to explain half clutch and full clutch...
Let me try... Half clutch as in you tune the clutch setting. When you release you don't have to release full clutch... And full is releasing it completely...
So what's better half or full clutch.

If I'm not wrong, people who bought the bike when it was launched were advised to use Motul oil, and later SVC guys began using Idemitsu oil. People here said that Idemitsu oil is not a good one and that it is not JASO MA certified. That's why I asked about it. So tell me guys, which engine oil is the best for Gixxer.

Yeah man. They said it would launch around August - September, but there are possibilities that they could be wrong. I'll try ask different dealer. You also try on your end.
