Hi gixxer owners, Has anybody tried changing the default instrument orange backlit color to something else? Can someone say how easy and safe to change the backlit light color?

      Hey all,
I am new to the community, I own a Gixxer SF, I was thinking of changing the rear tyre to either 150/60 or 140/70. I need suggestions, pros/cons. thanks

Better stick with the 140 stock setup, 150 will enhance look only , contact patch will be negligibly more than 140 with decreased mileage, better change into a better tyre like Michelin or more costly pirelli sport demon 140 cost around 9.5k I guess.☺

Not entirely sure about the air filter.. Will have to check that out.. Also will try to post pics of the plug chop as soon as possible
Then it certainly points fingers at new oil in crank-case. It'll become better as you put more kms on that oil. Good news is engine is better protected with 20w at the cost of sluggish feel and some less heat dissipation.

If your daily journey is less than 50 kms, try switching to 10w30 semi-synth, else to a 10w40 semi-synth.
Try to source a couple of NGK G-Power CPR6EAGP-9 spark plugs.

          cheers

I checked out Michelin Pilot Sporty, it is only available in 140/70 or 150/60, pirelli is way out of my budget, the stock size within budget is only mrf Anyway thank you for the inputs

Got it, guys! Brought the Gixxer home. Bike feels super smooth. I have been riding my cousin's Apache RTR 160, but this one is just awesome. I loved it in the first sight. I dint even test rode it... Haha.. BTW, it has two litres of fuel in it, now thinking of filling up the tank full (full 12 L). Or do we have to maintain low amount fuel during the break in period?

                  Congratulations..!!!
Don't full the tank. Some 6-7 litres will be good enough for riding 300 Kms. Why to full the tank if there are plenty of petrol pumps nowadays...

Fuel level doesn't affect anything. Just don't keep the level which puts you in trouble of pushing and finding a bunk.

Small and practicality in terms of mirrors will be difficult. I would suggest standard fitment and keeping safe distance.

My first question is this the real problem as only that areas where my pant will touch the tank is loosing the gloss and looking rough ? my second question is what i can do to contain it? i have done a lot of searching around and found out there is a solution offered by 3m called paint protection film , can anyone tell me where i can get it done here in Mumbai, even anything else i can do to protect the paint.Below i have attached few images of the fuel tank.
1 year and 1 month of ownership, haven't face this issue. I wear formals, jeans, half pants but no signs of such scratches. Try cleaning with shampoo and a soft cloth to just observe those aren't scratches.

SVC's personnel observation is baseless. My office colleague has Avenger and his fuel tank and other fiber parts is laminated to protect from marks/scratches. You can try it.

SMIL will be reporting profit after a decade, this financial year. The success is attributed to Gixxer. We should expect larger bike upto 250cc in same line-up.

                    Proud owner here.

I'm planning on getting wax/polish for my black Gixxer. Suggest me some good wax, and how often should one polish/wax their ride? By the way, can we clean and lube the chain during the run-in period or do we have to wait till the first service is completed? This is my first bike, so please bear with me if my questions sound idiotic.

Any carnauba wax will do. What wax to apply is not so important as how to apply it properly. Apply the wax everytime you wash your bike with automotive shampoo.

Yes you can clean and lube the chain as many times as you want irrespective of the service. Once again same principle. its not so important how many times you do it as how to do it properly.

Cleaning and lubing teh chain every 500km is the standard. If you do it at lesser intervals, it benefits you and your bike.
                        Washing the bike every weekend.

The more love you show to your bike, the more love your bike will show to you.

Yeah man, the last point is true. By the way, if I wash my bike every week then I have to apply wax every week, right? Will it not cause any ill-effects on the paint surface? And one point, I would do it properly becuase I love my bike.

Let me give you 2 more tips if you want to keep your paint as safe as possible.

                                1. If theres dust on the painted parts, dont wipe it with a cloth. Do a full wash, otherwise leave it like that until you wash the bike.
                                2. Always keep a bike cover with you in a small bag or something. Whenever you park your bike for extended periods of time, just put the cover on. It takes a couple of minutes, totally worth it. You dont want people fondling with you bike when you are not there. A covered bike doesnt matter if its Suzuki Hayabusa will attract 0 attention if nobody can see it.
