If the same was not cleaned by svc since beginning ask them to get it cleaned. Do clean the sparkplug.Originally posted by EthanReddington View Post

Yes i'm doing it. Don't have time to buy chain lube. Using the excess 10w40 engine. I think there is nothing to worry. But it will attract huge amount of dust. May be for time being.Originally posted by on_the_saddle View PostJust follow my shadow.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Used SAE 90 oil for more than 2 yrs until trying sprays, Oil although cumbersome to use gives satisfactory results at much lower costs.Originally posted by on_the_saddle View PostHello All,
Has anyone tried lubricating the drive chain with oil instead of using chain sprays?

Re: Going to buy myself a Gixxer!
Originally posted by tsiva1980 View PostHi, I have been largely a silent member of this forum. Me too from Chennai and currently looking to upgrade to a better/faster bike. Currently comtemplating between Suzuki Gixxer and Honda Unicorn 160. Although I am all for Gixxer, the Uni 160 would better suit my middle age and driving style. But don't like it for the product package that you get in return for the money paid. Plus the Honda folks gave me a waiting time of 2 months (!!) for Uni 160 due to the current demand for and sales of Hornet. I don't like Hornet for the price tag and the weight (140 kgs i think). Prefer a relatively light weight bike primarily due to my short height.
I got a on-road price quote of 88,800 from Maya Suzuki, Adyar. Is this correct/reasonable? Chennai folks, how is this dealer in terms of sales/service/reputation?
Now coming to my main query, I enquired with the sales guy from Maya about the rear-wheel disc option and he was saying that it is likely to be released only towards the end of this year in South India. That seems to be very late. Seems like a sales technique to push the current version of Gixxer. Any opinion guys? Thanks in advance.
By the way, never got a chance to test ride either Gixxer or Uni 160 due to limitations at the dealer showrooms on the day I visited them a few weeks back.
Should conclude by saying that this forum has been really useful to a person like me. Thanks a lot.
Friends, can somebody pls. help answer my queries?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Bro there's no seperate Eco Mode in gixxer. Suzuki eco performance is already built in. You can use the other customary ways of increasing mileage.Originally posted by tutul278 View PostHello Folks,
Can somebody explain me the Eco Mode in Gixxer and how to set it up and use it. Does it really helps in driving conditions to suit the mileage?

I own gixxer sf.. number is KA 03 JC 2700Originally posted by tsiva1980 View PostFriends, can somebody pls. help answer my queries?
please think before buying gixxer . I am not against to it but you should know some things before buying it.
1. Ground clearance. it is very low when compared to other bikes. Silencer may hit the ground often, in bad roads with pillion.
2. The. power is low when compared to apache,Honda, and pulsar. You will feel it while over taking and in gradient.
3.Pillion seat is no more comfortable. If you are a family man please avoid this bike.
4. Some minor problems I have faced are..
1.Gear shifting issue will get better after service but not smooth.
2.Shock obsorbe is little stiff.
3.Rear brake is not satisfied.
4.Loud sound at high RPM.
5.Little vibration at 4500rpm beyond that it wont exist.
6.Stock headlight position not good that much but it can be adjusted
Main advantage.
I didn't get any vibration even at its top speed. (121kmph)
It is best for long travel.
I got 40 kmpl mileage at the speed of 80kmph for 450 km run and 30 km mileage at the speed of 100 and above for 600km run. I guess you will surely get 50 kmpl if you maintained between 60 to 70kmph.
I didn't drive any other bikes so I can't compare with any others.
My another advice is you can try with apache 200, pulsar 200 which is available at same price with more and more power.
I don't know about long run. but proper maintenance is the matter.
check with hornet otherwise.
I won't go with Yamaha bcoz it has the lowest power in this segment.
please think and go for test drive if possible.
I have heard that Honda unicorn 150 is going to be relaunched again by Honda. please check that too.Last edited by dharsen; 03-03-2016, 11:41 AM.

Bro Apcahe 200 & pulsar 200 would cost you more than a lakh INR, what do you mean by power is low ,you are buying a 155 cc bike and expecting power of 200cc bike ,thats not fair .
Its shocker has ability to be set as per stiffness.
Gixxer is best bike for handling ,its handling is better than Apache 160 or pulsars due to wider tires & center mono-shocks ,smaller tail .
And I find it funny when you say the bike is loud at higher rpm ,that's what majority of people want , a grunty sound .Have you ever heard a super bike they way it sound .

and the loud sound from the engine... I don't want that.. and its not a super bike..
gixxer is also tagged for 95000 rupees..
almost one lakh
I'm not at all against the bike.. I'm just sharing my views.. the points I have mentioned is common for all gixxers.
except power I didn't compare any bikes with gixxer.
have a nice day

Re: Going to buy myself a Gixxer!
Use earplugs to avoid engine noise, Superbikes have throaty exhaust not loud engines. This bike is return of Suzuki in indian motorcycle market.and the loud sound from the engine... I don't want that.. and its not a super bike..

almost one lakh
Given inflation as of today , everything is expensive. 95k for a bike will have 15k as regn and tax which is not a concern for OEM. showroom price is what matters.

ok cool... don't show one thing bigger to hide other things... leave the sound topic.. Hello Bro,
Are you sure that Gixxer delivers less power than Pulsar 150, Apache 150(To correct you it's 160), Honda 160???
If this is the case for you, then please check your bike with SVC. My Gixxer beats them hands down any day regarding power delivery and torque in short run, they can't even think of competing with Gixxer other than looking at the tail light. It's only Honda Hornet which leads when on a long run though.

hi.. I am also from Tamil nadu, madurai working in karnataka..Originally posted by KrishnanKV View PostAny chennaites who purchased at Maya Motors, Adyar? If so, how is their after sales service?
I don't know about Maya motors but for your information..
I bought gixxer sf from value motors Bangalore
after that I never went to that showroom becoz it is too far from my home..
I used to go to star motors which is near to me. and I got very good response. and I received the same from 2 more service centers in hosur also..
so where ever you buy is not a matter. you can access any service center you want.. From my knowledge Suzuki offering good service..

Eco mode is mentioned in the user manual as far as i recall , if you go through carefully the section for setting up the RPM indicator, that's what made me think. I want to understand the mode/technology itself or It's advantage(s)/disadvantage(s). I do get a decent mileage anyway and happy with my driving style (16 years on the saddle). I would be more happy if you can give me a right direction about how this thing works in Gixxer.
