Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
My bike went for it's second servicing about 10 days back. We've done about 1500 kms so far.
It's been a blast learning to ride, and travelling on this bike.
We've done a few long trips. One from Pune to Mumbai and back, and another to Lavassa. The bike made both trips easy and enjoyable.
Riding in the city is fun too, except there's something wrong with my bike. When the engines hot it sometimes stalls when pulling away from a red light. It idles fine, but when I give it a little accelerator to move off, the engine goes off instead. I complained to the service centre about this, and they serviced the carburettor in the last servicing, but the problem is still present. (The issue has been there since the beginning, but first I thought it was because I didn't know how to ride a bike.) I took the bike back to the service centre again, and they adjusted the idle, and told me that should solve the problem, but I don't think it will. I think I need to take the bike to another service centre.
Another problem that I experienced for the first time (after the second servicing) was the bikes gear not engaging. It happened just once. I slowed down at a signal, downshifting, and the console didn't show any gear engaged when the bike had stopped. It took some furious gear changings to get the console to show that the bike was in gear again.
A few days back I tried to give my Dad a ride on the bike. He would have been the first pillion I've taken on the bike after the mechanic who taught me how to ride. But it began wobbling like crazy when he got on. The tyre pressure was low, and I think he may have been sitting too far back. It felt really unsafe and I asked him to get off.
I got the service centre to check the bike with a pillion on board, and they said that the wobbling was due to low tyre pressure. The pressure was about 5-7psi less in each tyre. I know the bike handles differently with low tyre pressure, but I didn't think it would be that scary.
When I first got the bike, I found it scary to go touch 40kms/hr. I did the Mumbai-Pune trip before the first 800kms, and the max speed I touched was about 70kms/hr. And I thought that was fast!
Now, a few months later, I hate riding the bike at low rpms. It just doesn't sound and feel alive. I love hearing the throaty roar the engine makes once you cross about 5000 rpm. And how easy it is to gain speed. I've been driving cars all my life, and this bike out accelerates all of them. It's a blast to ride. I'm not capable of zig zagging my way through traffic yet, and while I am a pretty considerate driver/rider, I'd like to ride like a maniac a few times just to get a taste of what it's like.
It's too bad that the Gixxer 155 maxes out at about 115kms/hr. Well, maybe that's better considering my motorcycling inexperience.
Lately, I've been accelerating hard, and riding between 6-7000 rpm. Going as fast as I can when I get the chance. I got really great mileage on the bike during the first 800kms, when I had to keep it below 4500 rpm. Almost 60km/l IIRC. I expected to get about 40-45km/l on the last tankful, as I've been riding the bike much harder, and taking it out in traffic more. But I got a tad over 52km/l. I've only been filling air in the tyres when I fill in petrol, which is less than once a month. I believe that if the bike continues it's frugal behaviour, and I'm more conscientious about tyre maintenance, I could easily get over 55km/l. I've been using the full tank to full tank method to calculate the bikes average and I've been fuelling the bike only at Shell petrol pumps lately.Last edited by chats; 07-30-2015, 02:21 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
i am facing lots of problem with GIXXER
1) LHS and RHS switches are not working properly
2)Sometimes Noise from Sprocket
3)Rusting on various parts
4)Noise From Front Suspension
5)Hard Gear shift
and few others
My bike is 4 months old done 3600 KMS due for 3rd service in early september.
i have taken my bike to SVC but they only fix it temporarily, later after few days same problems starts, i have visited more than 10 times apart from servicing.
Service center is 23KMs away so it very hard to take it to SVC again and Again.
Kindly Suggest, What can i do.. shall i write SUZUKI a mail.. or move to Consumer Court, How much time does consumer court take to resolve issue.
Kindly Help

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hi I wanted to know that as our bike is in warranty and my bike got recently serviced,if any part is to be replaced which gets covered-will the SVC do it for free or they would levy labour charges.during the service I couldn't assess what the problem exactly was and those dumb heads never bothered to think what d issue is.my old mechanic identified that steering doesn't move properly due to which there is no proper balance on my bikewhen I turn it.SVC fellow would charge Rs.150 as labour charges.
