  • Suzuki Gixxer Engine Cowl/Guard

    Hey Guys,

I have a Suzuki Gixxer (White/Blue) dual tone one. I need to install a engine guard unlike the faired SF similar to that of Apache RTR 160 blue. Anyone have any idea or tried the same will the RTR's engine guard fit the Gixxer?

I contacted the SVC's in Chennai and got no positive responses for the engine guard. Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks,
    Arun

Hey guys! what sort of tyres do you think we should upgrade to?
Even without rear disc, its quite easy to lock up the rear on cool pune mornings! My tyre is barely worn too! just below 1600km!

The front being heavier makes the front brake really effictive though! Havent locked that one yet XD

I have completed 2500 KMs with my Gixxer today. done the 2nd service and the cost is RS.600. The worst part of the service is, I complained about air pressure not being maintained at the rear tyre which they can't figure out and they have my custom installed horn wet leading to sound tone change. I dunno what they do in SVC except for oil change and other minimal checks.

Will the horn sound be OK after running in??

                Hi guys,
This is my 1st post here. And Im new to riding also. I got my Gixxer(Blue nd Whight) 2 months back. Im from Sri Lanka. So things are bit differnt here. We dont have Motul engine oil. I tried to find it but people here dont know about such a engine oil. Even the svc guys. So im not satisfied with the service they give. It feels like that they dont even know the bike that much. So I did my 1st service last month from a dealer suzuki guys recemond. They changed the engine oil an oil filter. Oil was Castrol(20w-40). Is it okey to use this oil. And also after the 1st service I feel that there is a performance lost. I feel the engine braking more than before. Even when Im in the 5th gear, when comparing with the situation before the service, I feel like that Im in a gear in between 4th nd 5th. When I close the throttle I feel the engine breaking than before.

Other thing is guys, I didnt check the engine heat before. But after the service I check, and I feel like its too hot. Even after a small ride engine heats up a lot.

Im so worried. Plz tell me is this normal. Or what should i do.
These are the engine oil that are available here..

                Caltex Havolin 20W-50
                Mobil Super 4T 20W-40
                Mobil Extra 4T 10W-40
Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40(This is expensive and says its Full synthetic)

What oil is good for Gixxer from the above..
I did my 1 st service at 1200 kms. Now I've clocked about 2800kms. Im planing to do the 2nd service soon. I wanna get rid of this engine oil as soon as possible. Im thinking of using Mobil 1 Racing 4T.
                Plz give me your ideas..
                Im soo confused..
Looking forward to ur advices guys.

                Thanks.

If i drive normally i'll get 45-48 kmpl. If in case of rash or speedy drive 40 kmpl is the mileage. This is a decent mileage for 150 cc bike. I've also got mileage of 52 kmpl on highways.

Guys.. Really need ur help.. My gixxer has some troubles lately.. Whenever I'm on 2nd or 3rd gear and hold the clutch for a bit long and release it,the bike feels like it isn't getting oil and it will shut down and start on its own.. Its similar to a person having trouble breathing.. Like when there's lack of oxygen.. I don't know why but this issue has been bugging me a lot.. Everytime I'm facing it.. What should i check?

                    Also i just found this!

                    Rust in the fuel inlet

You should definitely check that the air filter below the seat is unobstructed. You might as well get it cleaned. Had a similar experience and that was the issue for me.

The oil grade should be 10w40. Brand doesn't matter so much. So choose the oil grade as 10w40. 20w40 is not recommended for Gixxer. Thats what you are getting such problems. Drain that oil with a local mechanic and put 10w40. Also between synthetic and semi synthetic. If you go on long rides such as 200-300km then put full synthetic oil otherwise semi synthetic would be ok

Increase idle speed by 200 rpm in hot condition after switching on lights.

Has anyone tried lubricating the drive chain with oil instead of using chain sprays?
