With the second service due, I thought it would be the end of that problem - but was asked to wait another week after the service due the unavailability of the parts needed to fix the problem.

On going back yesterday after I confirmed the availability of the parts, I met service personnel who flat-out denied that there was even a problem with the bike, going as far as to accuse me of not knowing how to shift gears. Then came the statements that this is best you can get on the Gixxer, and that my bike has one of the smoothest shifts of any that they've tested.

On my insistence that they change the gear shaft/cam plate as they had promised to earlier, they did, but the problem it's painfully worse now. One can feel the very prominent neutral, and harsh shifting quality while upshifting from 3rd to 4th. I've left my bike in overnight so they can try solving the issue.

I find it revolting and more than mildly offensive that my riding style is blamed for what's clearly a mechanical problem with the bike. Should I write to Suzuki about this? Has anyone here experienced a similar problem with their bike?
I had hard shifts for every gear . But during the service time , I asked them to increase the clutch cable length. My shifts are much better now .
One more advice just shift to neutral from 2nd instead from 1st (make it a habit) . It helps in smooth shifts for long run

All batteries have something called self-discharge rate , i.e they lose charge by themselves over time . The rate depends on many factors including temperature and storage conditions etc . First time it conked out on you , charge it up externally and check charging circuit - which you have already done correctly . Keep an eye on it , if it repeats few times , straightaway change the battery .

I left my bike unused from Oct 5-30th . Then on Nov 7th or say 10 days after the unused period I had to start my bike using electric starter in an emergency. Suddenly the screen went all blank(as if battery is full down) , wait for a few seconds the screen is dim and bike tries to start. Finally I pulled over and used the kick lever ,checked lights and indicators. They worked fine, later when I used the self start it worked fine for the whole day( there were signs of dimness though sometimes).

Next day when I took it to SVC they found the battery down it seems.

One more thing guys, the SVC people don't recharge the battery every time you give it for the service. They just check if its usable or not. I heard this officially from SVC

How does this make any difference?
How you reach neutral doesn't have to do anything to gearshift operation. However something as simple as clutch freeplay plays an important role!

Bro I too don't know how, but my friends R15 gearbox went nuts due to some reason regarding this. He advised me to shift to neutral from 2nd instead from first for good long run maintenance.

That's incorrect diagnosis! Gearshifts depend upon oil quality, quantity, freeplay settings etc but not upon the sequence in which you engage them.

I got no idea bro, I was always shifting from 2nd to neutral till date. Things are going good for now.

My brothers Duke 200's battery went down within a day because the key was kept in the ignition (he forgot it there until the next afternoon) while the bike was off.

I have posted about my experience using the Shell ultra 10w40 in SF thread, posting it here so it maybe useful.

Shell ultra FS 10w40 on SF
I have decided to switch to shell ultra two weeks ago as I was already using AX7 and want to change due to my upcoming long trip.
In porur shell if you buy Ultra, you get 5% off on petrol. Ultra is costly about rs860. I got it changed in shell bunk itself and got my tank filled. They also gave a Pepsi 600ml free as i got petrol for more than rs500.
After driving for 5 minutes, I can feel a subtle change in the tone of the engine.
Within the same week I had completed 100km, and the gearshifts has become much smoother. It's just like the day I got my bike, but the oil has to heat up sufficiently for this to happen. I will tell the SVC about hard gearshifts in my next service.
I just came back from a 500km+ ride and the bike was cruising at 100. I usually cruise at 85-90 before the oil change and now I feel confident enough to push it a little further.
P.S - this is what I have experienced after using Shell ultra after 4200km on odo. You may or may not have the same experience with this oil.
