  • Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155

I had a bad experience at my service centre. My bike has had a prominent false neutral between the 3rd and 4th gears since the day I bought it, and I was asked to let it clock more miles each time I brought it up with the service personnel. With the second service due, I thought it would be the end of that problem - but was asked to wait another week after the service due the unavailability of the parts needed to fix the problem.

On going back yesterday after I confirmed the availability of the parts, I met service personnel who flat-out denied that there was even a problem with the bike, going as far as to accuse me of not knowing how to shift gears. Then came the statements that this is best you can get on the Gixxer, and that my bike has one of the smoothest shifts of any that they've tested.

On my insistence that they change the gear shaft/cam plate as they had promised to earlier, they did, but the problem it's painfully worse now. One can feel the very prominent neutral, and harsh shifting quality while upshifting from 3rd to 4th. I've left my bike in overnight so they can try solving the issue.

I find it revolting and more than mildly offensive that my riding style is blamed for what's clearly a mechanical problem with the bike. Should I write to Suzuki about this? Has anyone here experienced a similar problem with their bike?

Do it...we all had/are facing hard gear shifts.. More or less.. Although mine is reduced.. But shifting from 3rd to 4th is sometimes hard.. I have decided to show local mechanic where my dad used to service his scooter.. But since u have been harassed of not knowing how to shift gears (the guy who told that probably rides a scooty) write to Suzuki bro..

I'll write to them if the problem remains unsolved when I get the bike back from the service centre today. Thank you for the support.

What was the longest period of parking your motorcycle had in those eight months? and when was it?

25 days. Battery was alright even after 10 days of usage after that gap.
              Later I faced problems

Have you connected any additional load like higher wattage horns or higher wattage headlight? If so then the battery will need recharging.

I own a black gixxer from 5 months. After the second service i've witnessed noticeable changes in my bike. Self start bugs me alot and i no longer hear that awesome bassy sound when riding, when i put forth all these issues to SVC they say my bike is alright as if they don't want to pay heed to my issues.

Any suggestions on good looking fibre engine guard to make it look more sportier??

Normally there wouldn't be any problem with this. However, if the sheath of insulation is degraded after a couple of years you cannot replace it under warranty. If its just one to six months you should g ahead with warranty.

1> you need to get the headlight beam angle corrected. A friend of mine had the same problem.

2> Gears are a bit stiff on the Gixxer 155. You have to get used to it.

3> Please get it checked. This is SEP..

5> YOu should ask a local mechanic about this. They are very resourceful.

6> TRUE. Avoid giving your bike to anyone at any point of time. The first 1000kms or 4000kms is just the initial phase. I personally think its about 9000kms to

An update to me false neutral/ harsh gearshifts saga:

The service centre manager was courteous, but the problem remains, especially evident when riding and shifting easy. I guess I'll have to pressure Suzuki into getting something done about this.

At times like these, I regret not going with my first choice - the R15.

Do you have , or can borrow a good simple basic multimeter ? If so , put the bike on stand and open the access cover to the battery. Turn on multimeter , put it on DC 20v range . Touch the probes to battery +ve and -ve correctly ( red to +ve ) . It should read above 12v . Now start the engine and on neutral only, slowly open throttle while observing multimeter reading. The battery terminals reading should climb above 14v . This will show that your bike is providing enough volts to properly charge the battery while riding , yet battery not getting charged up means it may be defective or loosely connected etc . Anything less indicates a problem with charging circuit .

Yes bro did this in the SVC and the dynamo works all fine. I just wanted to know if the Gixxer's battery has to be recharged every 8 months or not. And as I said before the bike was not used for 23 days.
