How much kilometers have u completed yet?? Sound doesn't gets changed but it does feel grunty after the engine is hot(catalytic converter too) . next time u visit showroom, ask them to check tappet clearance and idle rpm. Also check oil level yourself (guide book reference).

Hi folks, hope everyone is doing and riding good!

Just thought of sharing my solo trip experience from Gurgaon to LKO and back.

Diwali time is mad rush time here. Public conveyances (train, bus, metro) are nothing but Gadar movie scene where everyone is grasping for space and breath. I said **** it let me ride till home and give my parents a surprise.

                Total trip distance: 1245 kms
                Mileage: 48-50 kmpl
Maintenance: Engine oil change + bike wash

Start at around 4.00 am on 10th of this month. It was not much cold but yes I underestimated the cool breeze at 80 kmph on Yamuna express. I shivered at times though I wore a wind cheater but it cheated me well.

Took me 4.30 hours to reach Tundla from Gurgaon which was non-stop around 220 kms. A much needed break to stretch my-self and have water. Started from Tundla, and reached Kanpur, non-stop for 255 kms. Kanpur to Lucknow passage has poor road conditions and on top of that -- unsafe riding habit to people so kept hovering around 45-55 kmph to avoid surprises.

Reached Lucknow around 3.30 pm, rang the door bell, Mom came out... priceless expression.

Parents saw Gixxer first time, loved it but cautioned me not to arrive next time without intimating.

Pros (600 kms, 11 hours trip)

                - No back ache, shoulder pain or any kind of stiffness (sore bumps? Yes).
                - Engine felt stress free around 5k-6k RPM which means you can keeping cruising between 70-80 kmph
                - Sudden pot-holes are well managed by mono-shock-absorbers
                - No sign of over heating or power-loss

                Cons:

                - Prone to crosswinds, at 80 kmph it is a bit scary on express-ways
                - Gixxer deserves better engine oil to extract peak performance (evaluating options now, will update here after purchase)
                - Spilt seats are big miss. You will tend to slip towards tank after a sudden pothole or bump. Re-adjusting frequently is irritating.

                Accessories:

                - Gloves - bought them from Snapdeal
                - Balaclava (cotton) - bought them more Snapdeal
                - Bungee cords - Local
                - Wild-carft 55L bag

Planning for another trip, maybe Alwar or Shimla.

One tip: Accessories are very important, please choose them wisely. Take them as investment.

                Ride safe!

You can buy a good riding jacket, they are especially important in long high way rides. A good riding jacket will have rain and thermal liners so choose carefully.

I can't stress enough of the importance of a good engine oil, the difference after changing to FS oil is night and day. After 2k km with it the gear shifts have become much smoother and highway rides are a blast.

It's Shell Advance Ultra 10W40. I have posted a review of this oil a few pages before.

You can observe the reflector fading which is negligible in this case.
This is caused by more heat emitted by the 55/60 watt bulb when compared to a 35/35w bulb. But I think it is a good trade off for the improved light output.

Even though Xtreme vision is not a value for money option, it is the max upgrade available now(in 55/60w segment).
Xtreme vision's low beams are a little whitish due to the blue coating/tint on the bulb and I find this very little whitish color temperature more pleasant and visible.
There is a new variant which is Xtreme vision Plus. you can go for it.
Or if you want whiter beams for both High and Low you can go for Osram Nightbreaker unlimited.

Get osram silverstar 35/35w way brighter than other 35w. Peace of mind and no reflector burning
