Didn't you switch to 10w40 FS?Originally posted by Shamanth Gowda View PostHey guys, anyone experimented with oils other than stock lately? I travel mostly on highways and the stock oil is harsh after continuous cruising. Any suggestions?
Iam currently running a MOTUL FS 10w40. Really great all round, especially as I switched back from a 20w40 mineral..

Are you saying oil-level doesn't budge irrespective of engine being on/off?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I had used Motul 7100 10w40 but there was clutch slippage issue for me. Now I have got my clutch plates rectified after I complained about hard gear shifts. Can I try Motul 5100 15w50?I know its not the recommended viscosity but Suzuki says in the manual that we can use alternative. Any advice is welcome. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Not absolutely no budge. There is very slight, and I mean 3-4 mm decrease in oil-levels when the engine is running. As in the picture I had posted earlier, the oil-levels was nearly up to the full mark, while the engine had already run for almost 20 mins. As far as I remember, the oil levels used to go down to the 'low' marker previously. I generally put it on double stand to view the levels. I tried to check the same on my friend's FZ V2.0. But his bike did not even have a window to view the oil levels.Originally posted by Freak inExile View PostPosting such statements didn't help anybody, did it?

It would be very helpful if you guys could post some pictures showing the oil-level while engine is running.
Thanks in advance.

Odd...I don't have any clutch slippage issue. It's a jaso ma2 oil for 4T bikes.Originally posted by Shamanth Gowda View PostI had used Motul 7100 10w40 but there was clutch slippage issue for me. As for the oil...nothing better. Engine runs damn smooth...and never heats up but remains warm. Only extended highway stretch.
As for 15w50..don't.
Never go over recommended SAE grade at 100c..in our bikes's case 40.
Either use a 10w40 or 15w40...nothing else...20w40 is a bit too much for our bike from my experience.
Would suggest you try the MOTUL 5100 series semi-synthetuc range of oils for now.
As for me...the FS 10w40 is perfect for my bike...nothing better.
Also ask sandeepcf I think.
He has experience with oils. He uses a mineral based 15w40...

Thanks for the detailed response. Will try 7100 again as it's the one available in 10w40 in my place.Originally posted by radikel View PostOdd...I don't have any clutch slippage issue. Even I bought my gixxer from the same showroom. Mine ODO was less than 5km.Originally posted by mahidhar.sk View PostI got my new black gixxer today. The odometer read 50KMs. Is this fine?

Question the dealer.

Got my first service done at 400km.
The RPM indicator still blinks at 4.5k RPM. Did the service center forget to change the limit or is it intentional as the bike hasn't run 750km?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I bought gixxer in black 4 days ago and its really awesome . This is the first time in my life I bought a new bike . however I noticed that at speed after 35-40 the right side handlebar have some vibrations in comparison to left side regardless in what gear and rpm I'm at, On left side I feel nothing . Is this normal ?
2nd is engine really gets hot , I can't even touch it for more than 2 seconds Is this also normal for new bike ? I never ran the bike more than 4.5rpm @ 60-62Kmph
I personally feel that black is more vulnerable to scratches and swirls . A slight swipe by hands are enough to make permanent swirl marks . I'm thinking to get a Teflon coat after first service but is it worth it
I noticed SVC guys have put marks everywhere with blue and white paint .. engine , disk break , carb , suspension , everywhere ... and this thing put me in doubt that did they give me bike which is used for TEST DRIVE !!

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Mine was less than 1KM actually. Saw the odo in the night without the lights on. Read 5.4 as 54! Damn paranoia! :-/Originally posted by Rakesh Gouda View PostEven I bought my gixxer from the same showroom. Mine ODO was less than 5km.

Coming to the bike, rode 73 KMs. Smoothest engine I've ever experienced. Breaks are weak. Maybe it's supposed to be that way till 1st service. It's my first bike. I took the delivery with a lot of fear. Within two days, its as easy as riding a scooter. Thanks to the smoothness and decent power. Switching gear is kind of hard sometimes but its smooth. Exhaust note is beautiful. Showroom people were too polite. Guess I can expect a good relationship with them. In simple words, No regrets. [emoji16] [emoji4]
