Are you still using the the philips xtreme vision bulb? What effect does it have on battery? I asked the philips dealer, he said that I might have to use an adapter as the battery might not be able to support the load. Is the bulb a stock replacement or do we need to do any modifications to the bulb holder?

          Thanks in advance!

Yes, I am still using philips xtreme vision bulb.

I am not sure what effect it does on battery, im completly working on night shift and with stock bulbs i was not having enough confidence to ride at night but now i am happy.

In our gixxy we are having HS1 type bulb socket and philips xtreme vision bulb is H4 which we can directly fit on HS1 but vise versa is not possible, so no modification needed for replacing stock bulbs with H4.

2.which one would have better mileage.
3.I heard about ground clearance issues of gixxer.is it that bad,I reside in Hyderabad ,will the GC create issues.
4.which one of them have good build quality. Also heard that gixxer gear shifts are notchy.
            5.what about a
A.s.s.does Suzuki have a good svc in malakpet.are the spare parts price and quality comparable to Yamaha's.
            Thanks in advance.
Gixxer.. Fz carburetor is a good option but outdated.. Yes gixxer has hard gears.. But its random.. Like one of my friend has smooth gear shifts but mine is a bit hard.. I am a college student too.. Brought Gixxer(black) and i am happy..

Although i faced sone problems like-

            >engine kill switch
This issue is extremely irritating!! After rains or wash it wouldn't work at all.. Repaired and it worked.. Again after some days it sometimes would randomly stop working.. But used to work after rains n wash.. Repaired again and started working without issues.. Somedays back it would randomly stop working again.. I had to press it hard and then it would work.. Took again yesterday and this time they replaced the internal part of the switch.. Now it seems to work good..

            >Hard gears
Gear shifting was hard initially.. Sometimes gear wouldn't drop from 4 to 3 to 2 or 2 to 1.. Showed to Svc.. They said they kinda lubed it.. Amd it became smoother compared to before... After some months gear shift becomes hard again.. But no downshifting problem.. Again went to svc but its still a bit hard..

I don't know why but my friend's gixxer has way smooth gear shifts.. U don't evn hear the kat kat sound when shifting gears.. I am thinking of showing to a local mechanic..

Other than these two problems.. The bike is a beast.. Believe me.. The engine is punchy and is always ready to kick off.. If you can ignore those two problems (like i did) its the best bike for you.. Not saying that yamaha doesn't have any problems.. The engine kill switch problem is there on fz and many other bikes..

And those visiting to svc was done during servicing..only once i had an extra visit for the switch problem...

3.5kms done.. And 2 servicings.. Getting a mileage of almost 60kmpl.. 57 to be accurate.. I have a mixed riding (city+highway)...

Gixxer is an awesome bike.. Its a new model.. So expect those minor issues like every other new models in market..

But the engine.. Its a beast baby!!

Ground clearance is okay, but slow down with a pillion is advisable for higher bumps. Parts quality is satisfying, if any issue arises, replace it in warranty.

Got my first service done today. Changed engine oil and chain lubed. Had to pay 617. They have moved to 10w40 synthetic oil. Oil alone cost is 390 now.

Ground clearance is normal for me.. I didn't face any scraping issues even with pillion.. Except once where fell in a big pothole which is normal.. Else it is of no worry..

Build quality i would say is good.. But cam be improved.. It is not bad or poor.. But it isn't the best..

When ridden below 4.5k rpm or less than 60kmph, the bike gives awesome mileage. But open the throttle and mileage drops drastically. I cruise at 85 to 90 on highways and mileage is around 40 which is acceptable at such speeds. And the engine feels so relaxed at 85kmph that it'll do 85 all day long. Engine is a gem

i mean its not yet to down to reserve, still running on main fuel, but close to reserve within 2kms it may get to reserve when i check fuel inside tank. i'll update exact mileage later. (edit : the exact mileage is 76.9KMPL on highway)

i'm testing out the mileage, when fuel came to reserve i've reset Trip B meter, and on next station i filled 1L of fuel and changed the knob to main. you see its still running for fuel 1L, already rode 68.8kms. is this able to achieve this mileage figure, what yours opinion ?

i got first service. so should i go around 80-90 also ? if i do not is my engine only set around 65kms ? can't i go smooth over this anymore ? i need your suggestion.

you can use Trib A and Trib B meters when you need it. for me i using Trip A for next service calculation and Trip B for mileage calculation.

                              to reset the trip meters,

                              i) select the meter first (use SEL button in the console)

ii) then reset the meter, to count mileage or whatever (hold ADJ button in the console)

Hey guys I went for service of my gixxer today & saw this new "high performance synthetic oil" provided by suzuki for gixxer. It is also 10w40 & is manufactured by idemitsu & costs Rs.390. The earlier one which was being used was for Rs.290. Sorry about the bad picture quality.
