ah, travelling from whitefield? All I can think of is bad roads and traffic all the way from your home to Bagmane.Originally posted by satyajitrc View PostReplied inline Buddy
All the gear shifts and frequently varying engine rpms will have some effect on the mileage numbers. Try religiously shifting gears around the 4k rpm mark next time you fuel up. It should bring you better mileage. I have never touch the carburettor until now and it is working fine. Haven't checked mileage figures post 2nd service yet. Will keep you updated on this.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hello Gixxer owners,
I had some couple of questions, if you would please be kind to answer them.
- how does this bike perform on extended periods of high speed riding?
- Can the bike handle 100kmph when ridden for a long period?
- how is the fuel efficiency when ridden between 90-100kmph on long tours?
- how are vibrations beyond 80kmph?
- how is the after sale service?
- Even though its Suzuki, i need to ask - where does the bike stand when it comes to quality standards as compared to Yamaha and Bajaj? It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

I second that. Anyone to clarify or share their experience.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Perfect.Originally posted by raintree View PostI live in Hennur, on the outer ring road. I hate travelling inside the city. My commute is mostly during off peak hours on the outer ring road to work. I try and keep the speed around 50ish depending on traffic and 70 to 80 on empty roads. I followed the initial break in religiously but now I am not careful like how I used to be before first service.
Need to do a proper long trip to find the rough ride mileage. I am still expecting 45+ if I do that. I never rev my engine when I cold start in the morning, just give it 10 to 20 seconds of idling time after the start and just pull away gently. Always try and shift gears around the 4000 rpm or max 4500 rpm mark. Switch off the bike at all traffic signals with countdowns more than 20 seconds. Also have filled up petrol at the same Shell petrol bunk ever since I purchased the bike.
Just a small correction..usually it's better to switch of the ignition if its 60 secs. or more.
Anything less and fuel consumption will actually be slightly more, because the major consumption is from initial fuel flow to start the engine.

How does starting a motorcycle consumes fuel equivalent to 60s worth of idling at traffic line?Originally posted by radikel View PostJust a small correction..usually it's better to switch off the ignition if its 60 secs. or more.

All I do is just press start-ignition-button to start the engine.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks Srinath, you've put my mind at rest!Originally posted by srinath2494 View PostFret not. Nobody rides with a pillion keeping the payload in mind. Higher bikes in 180 to 200cc segments itself have a defined payload of 120-140kg by the manufacturers. But nobody follows it, brother. This bike will pull your load easily or even a heavier load! get this bike if you want a smooth and balanced ride and if power is not your criterion. I had this inhibition of not taking a pillion heavier than the mentioned payload when I got my first bike :P So don't worry. The bike will be robust.
And regarding the aviator, trust me that scooter can pull too. I have seen a 102kg and a 85kg rider on an activa on doubles. That activa was this 100cc model released first with metal body and all :P the scooter itself was heavy due to that. But it cruised at 70-80 kmph for hours together with both of them on it, negotiating bridges and subways :P Inside the city, aviator is still better :P no gear, so easy to disappear :P

I agree to the point that at the said sppeds its a breeze and give great confidence. Now that my bike is 6 months old and has travelled on fair amount of broken roads and potholes, vibes have seeped in after I cross 95. I am not complaining but I have experienced it when had a small drag race with my friend on the ktm. When I crossed 100 on the odo the right foot rest had a lot of vibes. I would not say that the mirrors are loose on my bike but yes- they shake and its hazy when you look into the mirrors.Originally posted by radikel View PostHmm..I have travelled extended periods at those speeds, and the vibes were quite neglible for me. As for the mirrors..check the mounting and see if they are loose..it shouldn't shake too much.
Its difficult for me to say bro, I will need a ride on your bike to feel the exact difference[emoji2] ...but u can say this...the bike is a breeze to ride at those speeds and behaves quite well with neglible vibes....
I feel the more you ride on bad surfaces, parts go loose and should get them tightened while getting the bike serviced.

I suggest you to wait until next service and then jump to any conclusion. If possible change the service centre.Originally posted by kypa View PostI agree to the point that at the said sppeds its a breeze and give great confidence. Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I have tuned mine to level one and the bike is lot more comfortable. But with pillion, huge humps will scrape the center stand and one has to be careful while sweeping corners coz it'll be very close to the toes.Originally posted by sam916 View PostI second that. Will get it to default setting of 3 in next service.
