  • Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155

Got my bike's 2nd service done last week. Gear shifts have become much smoother and I am able to slot it into neutral easily when on standstill. the bike was delight to ride for the first two days post service. Now some roughhness is there after I cross 65kmph. I rode sensibly and smoothly since then and I follow res-res method- got a mileage of 58kmpl . But practically I would be riding in mix conditions and a bit rough too. This time I expoect the mileage to drop but I dont want it to slip below 50 .
I could ride for max speed of 93 kmph and want to test its real top speed. Prior to this service, the bike experienced a lot of vibes past 95kmph espicially the mirrors and footpegs. Does any body also has this issue? I am asking cause some members have ridden at more than 115 with ease.

I ride past 100 quite often haven't had any vibes. But only issue that bothers me is gear display vanishes if i come to stand still in 3rd gear ! vibes can also be due to the road conditions !

The biggest difference I find between the gsx and super splendor is the weight distribution.the gixxers weight though straight, feels stacked, and as such feels a bit front heavy requiring me to physically grab the handle bars while cornering. super splendor has a low center of gravity and as such tends to correct itself when cornering (and making turn-in cornering difficult).its steering is also ridiculously light .I could operate it with 2 fingers . as of yet i have completed 2.3k on the gixxer and I am planning the second service sometime this month.I haven't ridden any where on long trips yet,my commute is 53+53kms daily a distance covered in a bout an hour at a cruising speed along 62kmph . I'm getting around 60 mileage at that speed With standard tuning and normal use.and thers no lack of torque. a quick twist of the throttle sees the bike cross 90 and the tanker/trailer I was trying to overtake become a speck in the mirrors.

Front disks are excellent, the bybres have excellent bite (may be a bit too much?) Emergency breaking always sees the rear tyre lifting off the ground. in my town autos are the most unpredictable entities .they randomly decide to change its direction with no warning whatsoever. In one instance an auto tuned into me just as i was about to cross it, the front brakes brought the bike to a full stop within the distance of the autos body from about 40 kmph. The handle bars were practically touching the auto drivers chest.

The tires are Wonderful as well, the rounded profile makes quick turns easy with enough grip to supplant the brakes.I'm not sure how much air to put in either of them of them (guys?).The beefy suspension handles Kerala roads well.

The biggest issue I face is lack of storage space. there is absolutely no space for for anything.currently i am using an improvised tank cover from another bike as a temporary measure.this being a naked bike guys plz do not put anything on the rear grab rails, the exposed rear tire will rip any bag to shreds (I lost a text book hanging it out there).another issue I face the is mud splashing on the mono-shock spring when its raining .(has anybody found a fix for that?) .Also, sometimes when downshifting from 5>4 and 4>3 the selector may get stuck between the gears and nothing shows on the gear indicator.any guidance is appreciated. thanking you all..

            Great review!
            Mileage of 60 is awesome!
            Tire pressure: 29/33

              hi

wanted to update regarding hid lights. they suck. now after 2 months of usage the intensity of light has decreased and they dnt work sometimes while driving even when i have got it checked. light focus on road has decreased. i was going to insta'll a projector but now will remove the kit and will buy philips 60/55 bulb.

              also mileage has decreased considerably.

regarding the top speed of 93 kmph as mentioned by kypa, at that time i used to get 105 kmph as top speed. regarding vibrations it is vermy much manageable even at 100 +speed so get your bike checked once

Hello everybody, I got a Grey Gixxer last month and have done 700 till date. The first service was done last week and I have been noticing some things which are not right:

                  1. The engine gives off a burning rubber smell after 20 mins of spirited riding (I do not rev above 4K)
                  2. There is some tyre/chain noise sort of sound which comes after 15kmph. I pulled in the clutch assuming it was an engine sound but I think its the tyres or something.

Could you give me a heads-up on these issues? I don't have time to visit the A.S.S. on weekdays and hence would like to perform a DIY. Experts kindly advise...

Nothing to worry. Its common for all new bikes. Smell is coming from the engine & exhaust pipe which is coated with paint. Due to heat only. Reg chain sound do check the chain ply & perfect alignment. If that is OK. Don't worry. Simple put ur bike in center stand then spin in clockwise to check the alignment.

Gixxer is having under seat provision for helmet. You can safely lock ur helmet & keep it on the seat. Refer owners manual.
