AFAIK its not the colour of the threads that matter that much but the colour of the tip of the spark plug which seems silver, from my perception it was a bit on the leaner side. But usually its very hard to determine AFR mixture on an old spark plug. Try cleaning the plug tip and then doing a test after the tuning

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Hello everyone.......
I am proud owner of Gixxy from 11 Nov 2014.
From first day/page I am following the post.
And thanks to you all members to make a wonderful unit.
Regarding common problems of Gixxy I am sharing my experience......
1> Rear brake has no bite.
Use NV brand asbestos liners (white in color).Stock are non asbestos ASK brand (black in color).
Non asbestos material is very hard and we need soft material for instant stopping.
Now days non asbestos material is used because of ban on asbestos.
And believe me you will feel dramatic difference.
Gixxy shares same liners those are used for Apache,Fiero,Old Scooty,Samurai........
2>Head light very dim.
You can use 55/60 halogen but it may put pressure on charging system because though it is
DC set up it is only single phase generator. As current drawn increases voltage drops that is flaw of
single phase generator. But simplicity is basic advantage.
So try to install LED bulbs for parking, turn lights,no. plate so to reduce current drawn.
Readily available in accessories shop.
It will reduce approx. 20 watt load and can be used for 55/60 without any trouble.
3> Mileage is low........
It really depends on driving habits. What you feed comes out. My Gixxy gives me around 55.
Fuel purity also matters. Shell fuel gives me good mileage and engine responsiveness.
So please try Shell if available.
