Does the sound comes after the extensive riding?

Has anyone used the Shell Advance AX7 10w40 semi-synthetic engine oil on their Gixxer? If so, share your opinions.

I have crossed 2000 kms and the 2nd service is due in a couple of weeks time. Was wondering if I can switch to this engine oil as I have read some rave reviews about this particular one.

I had this yesterday after first service, is it a very slight sound coming from the bottom middle? Does the sound come when you ride at about 30kph and hold the clutch? For me it was from the front sprocket. I took it back to SVC and told this to mechanic, he didn't respond well at first, but later agreed to it and I guess he loosened the chain slack just a tad. Now it's good, no noise. Maybe the chain was too tight.

Is there a K&N air-filter for Gixxer? If yes, how much will it cost?
3rd servicing coming up in a week or two. So, I was thinking of replacing the stock spark plug, with an Iridium one from NGK.
Also, in the 4th servicing, I think I'll use a K&N air filter if possible.

Check if Philips Xtreme Vision is available in local shops or online. Its better than Nightbreaker.

Also if you are uprading to a 55w bulb from a 35w one, I'll advice you to replace the parking(5w) and number plate(5w) bulbs to LEDs so as to compensate the 20w increment in Headlamp.

Yes it comes when I ride near to 30 bt nt necessarily when I hold clutch bt how does it disappear at higher speed??. I may need to show it to SVC again. Thnx

                        Hi Avinash,
Firstly, yes rc1060 or rc1100 can be used with the type of carb gixxer has. It can be directly installed on the air inlet side of the carb after removing the air hose pipe.

Pros- better acceleration, better power delivery perhaps, better mileage as well in some cases if the engine leans out, and oh great sound.

                        Cons
More dust, air, dirt seeping in through the cotton type mesh.
Regular intervals of cleaning as in our city conditions it requires cleaning frequently (been using it for 17k kms).

Headache of finding the appropriate mainjets or pilot jets,
Proper tuning, engine getting screwed slowly over a period of time, venturi valves of the carburettor getting damaged slowly, And a lot more that I don't know.

Other than that It can be directly installed on the air inlet side of the carb after removing the air hose pipe.

Anyway I will not discourage or encourage you to get it.
But remember the pros and con's of it because once you opt for it you and your bike alone will have to deal with the forthcoming problems/fun.
Initially it will be good days but over a period of long ownership the dust will start seeping in.
Anyway this does not relate that k&n is bad as this completely my personal observation based on 3 bike's usage over a considerable period of time. (Fzs to be precise but the working principle s of a carb remains same).

                        Decision is yours alone.

Yesterday went for a short 100 kms to and fro highway trip touched 120kmph once.
The bike has a great pulling ability & it can cruise at 90+ speeds comfortly but it is badly effected by the wind blasts at some points of the highway at those areas bike just refused to cross 105kmph.
Over all pretty satisfied with its highspeed performance & stability at highspeeds.

So basically what you're saying is to stick to the stock filter. Was hoping to get some more juice out the bike but if its bad for the bike, I'll make sure it stays out of the way. Also, you didn't mention the price factor?
I checked the RC 1100 and RC 1060. These are cone type filters. Gixxer uses a flat square type filter. Are you sure these can be used in Gixxer? Pretty confusing

                                Hi
Yup bike's performance is better with k&n but its around 0.7-1.25hp approx. (I felt little bit increment on acceleration but not a lot although it sound like it's going faster)
The k&n which is a universal type filter is quoted at 1500bucks on snapdeal.
I understand you have a flat square type filter box but the inlet of the carb remains the same for any bike, you probably will have to do away with the hose pipe connecting to the stock air filter to install that.
Yes I'm sure it can be used in gixxer.
                                But do upjet as well.
Mileage will also take a toll if you upjet by 4 to 5kmpl.

                                One thumb rule:
Higher the speed at which bike runs -lower mileage
More the number of modifications- lower the reliability. (As the threshold limit of the bike is extended.- this I can say after some little experience of 19000kms of modifications on my Fzs)

                                Ride safe
