Hi,is anybody experiencing vibrations during hard accelerations? This issue has lately originated from 2nd to 3rd gear and I feel as there are a lot of potholes the bike parts get loose.its been two months of ownership and my gixxer was so smooth and vibe free, but I feel concerned if my bike gets a year old how should I ensure that the vibrations do not increase.I believe during servicing the SVC guys will check but wanted owners suggestions as well.

I've been following this thread since recent times since the commencement of my plan to buy a new bike for myself. I'm new to bikes and do not have much experience riding the same. As far as my choice for bikes is considered, I've shortlisted the Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar 200NS as the difference of price between them is just Rs. 15k which is making things all the more confusing for me.
What I've sorted out after reading all the posts on this thread is that there are certain common issues with Gixxer reported by many owners including rusting, paint chipping off, hard gear shifts, tyre wobbling, etc. So my first question to all of you...Do these issues exist anymore in your Gixxer...? Or have they been sorted out...?

Secondly, also I'd request all the experts here to kindly recommend me either of the bikes (200NS or the Gixxer) based on the fact that my maximum ride will be in the city with occasional highway trips, although the lesser mileage of 200NS (compared to Gixxer) won't be a big problem for me since my running is quite less.

It is only these issues relating to the Gixxer reported commonly by owners on this thread which is not very confident-inspiring when you have your hard-earned money at stake. XBHPians provide your insight please.

Just for info, I'm 22 years old with height 5'7" weight 72kgs, which won't be a problem driving/handling the Gixxer in my opinion...What about the 200NS in same respect...?

Also, is the performance of 200NS compared to the Gixxer so stupendous so as to justify spending an extra Rs. 15k on that...?

Please help me to make a choice by answering the questions I've written in bold. Thanks a lot in advance... :-)
Hey Sushant, I got my bike on Feb 1st and already have completed 2000 kms till now. So I feel I'll be able to give you answers.
      1. Rusting- Absolutely no rusting. As someone had mentioned before, the Gixxer was stock a couple of months ahead of the lauch so that ppl don't face too much waiting time. Rusting was common only in those initial set which were idle in the yards and you know the yards will be usually poorly maintained.
Paint Chipping- % of bikes with this issue is very small. Even in those cases they have been replaced without much issues.
Hard Gears- People complaining of it are mostly those with very less kms and not yet fully run in. Mine is getting smoother and smoother every day as I drive more. Post 1k service it has become much better than before and now it even smoother. I would say it needs at least 3 to 5k kms to completely run in. Just keep in mind, Suzukis are probably one of the best in gears. My uncle's 15yr Suzuki Fiero gear is still butter smooth.
Tyre Wobbling- I've not come across even a handful of gixxer owners with this issue.

      2. If you're looking for outright performance at that budget go for the 200NS, but if ur looking for quality, better refinement, long term maintenance etc, the Gixxer beats 200NS hands down. And its not a poor performer either. It's the best in 150 cc segment. Remember Bajaj is known for their quality issues and I have first hand experience with pulsar, discover and wave in my family.

      3. 200NS should be a bit taller than the Gixxer, but for 5.7 which is my height too, you won't face any issues with both. The Gixxer will be a little more compact size compared to the 200NS which gives you a big bike feel.

      4. Yes the performance of 200NS is quite beautiful and justifies the price tag. But the real concern is how it holds after a couple of years use. Though the Gixxer is new, I would say the quality of Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki will always be a couple of notches above Bajaj.

Hope I have given you answers to make a decision. You won't regret both bikes. Both are extremely good, 200NS is raw power with macho looks whereas the other is a well put together and super refined Suzuki.

brother...the only drawback you'll face in Gixxer compared to NS will be midrange & topend performance... and even i felt that the low-end power on Gixxer to be better than NS... so...

        All out performance : NS
else... just close your eyes & go for Gixxer...[emoji6]

No, No vibrations as of now.
My bike is 3200 km old now.
But I get vibration after crossing exactly 4.5k rpm, when asked ss guy about same, he gave me this reply 'under 4.5k rpm bike runs in eco mode and post 4.5k rpm bike gets boosted up'

Resonance frequencies, every single cylinder has these vibrations at a specific range of the power band, usually when its about to begin. In my P220 also is around the RPM range which you've described. Nothing to worry about.

I used to get at around 50 to 52 kmpl before 1st service and the period between 1st and 2nd service. But after 2nd servicelast month, I have driven around 800 kms. My mileage has dropped to 42kmpl. I am driving the same route to the same place in the same way i used to ride before too. Also the pick up from 0-60 has dropped drastically.
I have contacted smk suzuki. Will be visiting them on monday.

                        Hi everyone

I'm new to five geared bike. Can anyone tell me the perfect procedure for downshift. My question is while from top gear to neutral, can v directly shift the gear from 2nd to neutral or do we need to shift it to 1st then neutral.
                        Just follow my shadow.

Got up in the morning bored out of hell and said to myself - what the hell!
The red Baby just got its second service and had the hard gears issue sorted out and ready for a spin.

Got ready in 30 mins, hopped on and off we went.

Pune - Bhigwan - Pune - 200 KMs round trip.

Did a tank full at the HP pump at Loni, few KMs after the toll roads started.

85 KMs in 1 hour 6 minutes with no rash driving or risks.

The Gixxer pulls effortlessly at 6.5K rpm on 5th gear at ~90kmph.

No stress from the engine and superb stability.

No back pains - I have had a slip disc a few years ago and I am very cautious of even the slightest pain.

No heat from the engine on the foot.

I had one issue - not with the bike - lots of cross wind effect on the straight line stability above 80kmph - veterans can guide here.

                          Now some pics

I felt the same today after doing a 120 km round trip! Perhaps the naked look and the lesser weight of the vehicle is to blame I guess. The wind at times was able to slightly move me out of the line I intended to take.

BTW, has anyone done a hill climb of atleast approx 1500 mts height with a pillion sitting on the Gixxer?
