Hi, m Himansu from a town near to Guwahati city, Assam. I am a regular visitor of this thread since October 2014, but m m too lazy to post something.. I have learnt lot of things regarding maintaining my Gixxer from this page.. on November 25th bought a new Gixxer, I never had a bike before of my own.. now it is 7100+ on odometer.. did 3 servicing..

I generally ride for about 25 km per day.. I also took it out for short tour for about 150km+ on 18-19 occasions.. mileage is 45+ in city& suburbs; 55+ in highway (@65kmph-70kmph).. satisfied enough..

For about 3-4 months I was the sole owner of suzuki gixxer in my town, and i enjoyed a lot.. when I took I out for a ride i love to see people looking at this bike, and some people asking about my bike.. sometimes I here people uttering "Look at that Gixxer..." One day even an 3yrs old lad was asking his father " whats d name bike papa?..." thus proving that the bike has some unique appeal.. i liked.. Now I have seen few Gixxer in my town.. lot of people in our town are not opting for this bike because of Service Centre unavailability.

Ride quality is good, comfortable.. At first i felt that the seat was a bit stiff, but then i put some extra cushion of 1/2 inch thick.. Pillion riders generally don't feel comfortable and that is very uncomfortable female riders with attire like sari.. I generally do not feel fatigue after a long ride.. Once I reached top speed of 103kmph, I never felt this bike going out of my control..

Few days back i was having some problem with the "racer" where ball bearing and socket had rusted for which my handle bar is not responding well and there were vibration in the handle bar in bumpy roads, speed breakers.. Now the balls were change, the socket is fully greased, bike is fit..

I had a issue still not solved.. form about last 3 months whenever I cross speed breakers even in reasonable speed or I immediately after crossing some big bumps My gixxy behaves like short of fuel supply for few seconds then again comes to normal.. Is that okey or not ?? whats may be the problem !!!??

few days back i have installed a small side box too.. i need that badly mostly for my accessories like gloves, raincoat etc..

No other issues.. Overall I am happy with my Gixxer...

NB: I did some stickering myself on the helmet and body of the bike.. hope, not looking odd !!

So tempting to see a blue gixxer while I'm here waiting for it yet. And regarding that short of fuel supply on negotiating bumps and speed breakers, it might be because you are in first gear and slowed down to such low speeds and forgot to bring your clutch to the friction point. Its normal and you will get used to it if you try to hold the friction point even in 2nd gear!

Get the fuel filter checked/cleaned. Also check for the fuel pipe from the tank to thecarburettor.

Is it OK to do the first service before 750KM ? My ride is 520KM on ODO and I have a long trip coming up in this weekend. Can I give it for service now ?

No. These are custom made. Won't be avbl officially. These bikes are altered for race track. Do check the bike pics in website.

                          Hi,

Got my Gixxer 12 days back on Jun-3. My rear tyre has got 8 Punctures and twice by very small stones piercing through the tyre. It's like almost everything is going through the tyre. To add, I have been riding on good roads and almost avoid bad patches as much as I can. (with 400+ Kms on Odo)

I have been riding bikes since past 15 years and with 2.5 years on Tubeless tyres but never had so many punctures in such a short duration of 12 days. Have consulted few tyre showrooms and tyre repair shops and they have confirmed that the tyre is defective indeed.

Thus, decided to report the issue to Suzuki and to my surprise received a call within 15 minutes of shooting the mail (via their Contact Us page) and the executive asked to get the bike inspected at the showroom and once they get the technical report from the showroom they will look into this, though the tyre doesn't come with such warranties he has assured that they will look into this to resolve.

Awaiting to hear from them on when to take the bike for inspection.

Has anyone faced such a issue?

So here is my short review of the bike.

I shouldn't readily compare this one with my previous bike, the RTR 180 ABS. But the reason why I got this very much sums up why it should be compared.

First I really didn't take any test ride of the RTR before buying and got the bike just two days after I decided to get one. To my dismay, I happened to ride the bike, over some 1000 km on the highways. So I came to see how it hampered my riding experience.

                              1. First, due to lack of test rides, I didn't know that it vibrates almost all the time.
                              2. The clip ons made me bend more and the bike itself was tight for me. I am tall and I could only fit in some awkward position and all the spots were tight :P
                              3. The bike has an urgency to accelerate(which makes it a quick race bike). But this didn't serve me well. I happened to find that I liked the ride to be calm.
                              4. It had harder tyres. So hard that even at standstill, over gravel or sand, it would skid upon quick and full braking.
                              5. It had ABS. This is a boon. But it didn't really help me master any braking or slower riding. I was power crazy and always accelerated and braked quickly overtaking vehicles. Also I was afraid to turn it off :O
                              6. Its powerful. That made me power crazy and I wish to not be like that. It's harmful in a way. It's like satisfying my ego whenever I overtook any vehicle or win green light drag races :P
                              7. The service centre was initially kind and prompt. But they started being lethargic and showed poor workmanship. Being a first time bike owner, it made my ownership experience poor and regretful.
                              8. Well, it vibrates, everywhere, everytime. Leaves my hands and body buzzing after even a small ride.
                              9. I couldn't find a proper mechanic who would help me to my satisfaction for a long time. But when I found, I got to know that this bike required a lots of attention away from the company service centres. I was not ready to get new tyres and oils because the bike still vibrated.

So now, with due course of time, I happened to ride all other bikes and found that I was particularly inclined towards a sedate, comfortable and composed ride. I did not require all this urgency that the RTR had to offer. Moreover I need a bike that doesn't vibrate :O :O

I had to choose between pulsar200ns, gixxer, sf, r15, cbr150r.

Pulsar 200ns wasn't all that refined and I had to cut out r15 and cbr150r because they were all over a lakh. My idea was to exchange this bike and bear the nominal loss but get a softer ride under a lac. But I was confused between cbr and gixxer, still, as cbr appeared more attractive to me and it was so well refined. I had to chuck out cbr150r at a point because that's when gixxer sf was launched. It appeared great to me in person. But I was thinking if I should be spending more for the fairing because gixxer did almost everything sf had to do for me and it still was on my list of good looking bikes. So keeping in mind the excess amount and the purpose of the purchase, I cut out sf. Now I was clear with my purchase after a long confusion.

I set out to get the bike, exchanged the bike and got this delivered after an unprecedented waiting period.

Now when I rode this bike all I can say is that, I should have gone with my very first decision :P Yes, I didn't mention it in the beginning. I had this and RTR in my mind when I wanted to buy my first bike :P Solely cut this out because RTR had more power and ABS! I was sold to those things and it looked good too. And I got carried away by the common notion that TVS had better service and spares accessibility which would make my first time ownership experience easy.

So this bike is a qualitative upgrade over the RTR and I love it.

                              My observations through this time:

                              1. It doesn't vibrate! Yes. It doesn't vibrate, atleast as much as my RTR did.
                              2. It has amazing tyres
                              3. It feels like a single unit under my legs! its so solid and sturdy.
                              4. Its stable even at standstill.
                              5. It is so spacious and I sit free and more upright. I can move around easily and adjust to changing road conditions.
                              6. I feel that my lower back and bum are really well supported by the high raised pillion seat.
                              7. I have a few friends who got this bike and have ridden on highways with me. So I am pretty sure that this bike can ride easily for the short weekend rides I do.
                              8. I felt it has a puny horn and I wish to change it later.
                              9. Apparently, I miss the urgent acceleration at times but that's because I am still in the hangover from my previous bike. Definitely, it doesn't define my riding style.
                              10. It doesn't have rear disc or ABS. So its a miss too. But the great tyres make up for it. I felt the rear drum brake works enough at the same time. I happened to lock it twice while bringing my bike home :P
                              11. It is super flickable and feels really confident at it.
                              12. it doesn't vibrate.
                              13. it doesn't vibrate.
                              14. it doesn't vibrate.
                              15. ""
                              16. ""
                              17. ""
                              .
                              .
                              .
                              .
                              .
                              .
                              .
Observation No. Infinity: It doesn't vibrate!

On the whole, I should say that the RTR was and is a great bike for what it is meant to do. But this bike betters it in satisfying my needs. Its just that some lessons are meant to be learnt the hard way.

And the lesson made me come up with this: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/what-bik...-beginner.html

Well if someone is interested in purchasing their first bike, please ask them to go through my rants and advises :P

Thanks for reading I wish to be helpful to fellow riders in this thread and in this forum, on the whole!
