Okay guys and fellow big brothers...this is my first post and i am a rookie rider...sorry for being off topic because my query is about the sf rather than the original gixxer...just ordered the triton blue moto gp edition and it for the love of god they gave me a whooping 1 lakh 1 thousand 700 quotation and a ONLY 2 months of waiting period
So nothing to do but to know my bike in the forums
Where my brother pointed me a very interesting point ( please dont laugh as i said earlier i am a rookie)that where is the crush guard or leg guard? Can there be any ?
The naked gixxer has them as i have seen in the forum but does our sf missed them being the casualty of the fairing ?
    I have also seen r 15 v2.0 missing them
Is there a way to attach crush guards to our sf ? Or because of the fairings it cant be done ?
I am a rookie so the bike may tip over a time or two and i know those guards would have definitely help stop scratches and moreover me being on a wheelchair
So to conclude is there is a guard available? Can it be attached from the services centers ? Or i have to look it in the local shops ? And what it may cost ?
Eagerly waiting for reply from THE bikers

I am pretty confused between RS200 and the Gixxer SF. Need pillion comfort, long rides as well as decent city rides. Not going to be cornering or racing on track but still need a powerful engine which wont give way under pillion weight and ghats. Plus, am not too sure of suzuki service network or quality, bajaj is pretty spreaded across the country. Any suggestion will be of great help.

Plz give honest opinion and not one influenced by your love towards your bike

I know both are great bikes in their own regard and hence the confusion of choice

I'll tell you what.. take some good old WD40 and spray it well inside the switch-box. Worked for me always.

Also, spray all moving parts, brake cams, pivots, footrest links with WD40 regularly in the rainy season. Been doing it religiously for several years

Once again, finding this thread idle.

Anyway, a few consumer observations for people who are buying their gixxers from Pramaan Suzuki, Chennai.

I was called today by the showroom to settle all the documents for the new bike I purchased. This included my old apache's exchange form, statement of account, extended warranty card and the full details about the insurance. Initially they had given me a quotation of 87000rs. During the time of booking, my apache was exchanged for 60krs and I paid 29,250 by cheque. This included the extended warranty, attachments, etc. But today when I received the statement of account, I found that the on road price was calculated as 86900rs. There was a balance of 100rs. Also the amount I paid in total is 89250(including the exchange amount). They had not specified why the price was printed as 86900rs and not shown any break up for 2250 + the 100 balance I mentioned earlier. So, in all, they had not shown any break up for 2350rs. Since I couldn't exactly recollect the amount I noted down in my cheque book, I stayed there thinking and later came home. Also the very purpose for which I went there was not served. I came out with an incomplete statement of purpose only. When I came home, cross checked the cheque book and called them back, all they had to say is that 'please come tomorrow so that it can be checked'. I am not really frustrated about their service as they are responsive in a very passive way. I am totally fed up of waiting and waiting as they take up more orders than they could actually handle and then confuse everything.

Finally I had to make a checklist of things needed to be received from them. Also, this would be useful for any prospective buyers who can also add this to their PDI.

          1. Full and proper statement of account with actual break up.
          2. I was given just the first page of the insurance. So even that was incomplete today. Hence, check if all the pages of the insurance papers are there.
          3. Extended warranty card and the corresponding receipt/acknowledgement for the same.
          4. In case of exchange, please check for the vehicle transfer forms and delivery statement/note.
          5. If there are any additional accessory or purchase, the receipt for the same.

I had previously posted a picture of the user manual stating some details inside are of sf's. I enquired about it in today's visit and they said it has been changed by the company itself after the launch of sf. They both have similar user manual. Maybe, identical, I havent seen one. They showed me the older manual too and there was no difference in that, except for the pictures, from mine.

So I had to call it a day with an useful note.

          Note:

          1. Always follow the people. Sales is their priority and after that, you are on your own.
          2. Check for all possible things within the delivery time. If any document is missing or if there is any discrepancy, get it clarified then and there. Get an assertive date for sorting out and settling all the discrepancies right away.
          3. Always go through the documents from top to bottom. The smaller the font and larger the amount, the more is the risk of missing out details :P
          4. Sales personnel could be lethargic once the bike is delivered. But, please don't get deterred by the strain of keeping them on their toes. Follow them up and get things sorted out, on your own, asap.
          5. If you have a parent who is well experienced in dealing with invoices, get their help right away :P :P :P

Ownership experience after 4 full days of ownership :P
          1. Gear shifts are smoother while wearing sneakers or converse :P Leather shoes sometimes result in false shifts :P
          2. Amazing ride-ability in rain.
          3. Don't go over potholes or bad roads in a hurry :P
          4. Love the hum of the engine while doing 55-60 kmph.
          5. When going over bad roads or rough patches, I feel a slight buzz at the tip of the right footpeg alone.
          6. When the engine is cool, do use the choke before kick starting. Else this needs several kicks to come alive. This was not the case with my older bike.
          7. The fueling in 1st gear is quirky.
          8. The throttle response is so good. Slight twist and the revs build up quickly. Planning to fine tune the play so that I get the feel as in my older bike which I'm used to.
          9. I can't wait for the run in to get over soon. Need more holidays to ride continuously! The engine has become smoother than how it was in day 1.
          10. It demands attention on road.
          11. Straight line and cross wind stability is very good for the speeds I have done till now.
          12. The brakes need more bite as many reviews say. Experienced it today. If there are new riders, start braking at a safer distance until you get used to it. But once I tried to pump the brakes, the bike decelerated very quickly. Of course, my brake pads need to complete run in too :P

Dear brothers, there is a separate thread for gixxer sf. Post it there. The owners would have finished some good distances on their bikes and would be able to guide you more accurately.

And for faired bikes, there is a pair of frame sliders available in the market which does the job of crash guard. But as far as I have heard, this is mostly not compatible with sf as there is no proper gap in the fairing and access to the metal frame where you can actually attach them. So please ride safe and get used to it in empty roads with a friend or experienced person nearby before taking it to the traffic. Have fun. Ride safe.

The performance gain from using synthetics in Gixxer is not so evident.
Anyone else want to share their experience with Synthetic oils? Will stick to stock Motul after 3rd service. Thanks

As you know that I bought my gixxy from Pramaan Motors. Its common in all showrooms & we need to be very careful while filling documents & settling money. I paid the entire amount by cheque & got the bike in three days. There is still more to go. My last service has not done properly during the service camp. I use to shout & even I complained to suzuki. Waiting for 2 more free service to complete. Once completed everything is DIY.

My 5 yr old TVS star city recently completed 75k kms everything is taken care by me. Initially Just for sake I completed 4 services.
                Just follow my shadow.

I've done some touring lately. Of which I had a pillion for ~1100 kms. Blore to Goa and Goa to Mlore. My pillion was a lady, 5'4" and 50 kgs. So the pillion seat is pretty manageable I'd say. However whenever I took generously proportioned pillions, say 6ft 75kgs, they did complain, and I was uncomfortable too.
I'd say take your pillion and take a test ride or at least try sitting on it, and decide for yourself.

As srinath2494 stated it was a 3000+ km trip[emoji1]. The bike was really good in the rain. I easily maintained 80 kph in heavy rains on single carriage ways. Didn't have any technical issues whatsoever. And yeah the ride was vibe free at 80 kph.
Even after 640 kms in a day, with about 40 kms of VERY bad roads, me and the pillion were completely rested after a night's sleep. No cramps or anything of that sort.
These are my experiences, it might be different depending upon your physique. I'm 5'11" and 75 kgs.

                          Ride Safe.

Do carry a rain over or when you close the fuel filler cap, use a plastic cover between the cap and the tank and then press hard until it fits in. This is something easy and its also so air tight. Just like how pickle bottles are packed before transportation [emoji14]
I maybe a little late on replying to this, but please avoid this practice. The fuel tank should not be air tight. It would create an atmosphere of vacuum inside and the bike would stutter and ultimately stop. You need to let air pass through the key slot. As far as water is concerned, there is a provision for water drainage via the tank drain pipe. Just ensure it is free of debris at all times.

Even after 640 kms in a day, with about 40 kms of VERY bad roads, me and the pillion were completely rested after a night's sleep. No cramps or anything of that sort.
These are my experiences, it might be different depending upon your physique. I'm 5'11" and 75 kgs.

How far did you run in a day before you took breaks? Did you use stock Motul engine oil or switched to something else for this journey?

How about the overall mileage for the 3000+ km trip when riding at around 80 kmph?

Anyway, a few consumer observations for people who are buying their gixxers from Pramaan Suzuki, Chennai.
It is the same everywhere and with every company mate! Once the bike is sold they don't care about us anymore. Having visiting Pramaan twice to see if I can purchase my Gixxer there, I was never impressed with them in the first place. They seemed dodgy. Would prefer ABT if I am in Chennai.

As you said in your post, it is up for us to be vigilant and check every single minute details both in the bike and in the final bill section or else they will overcharge us without doing a proper job. Currently experiencing the same with my dealer in Bangalore.

With the pillion ride, we took breaks every 50 kms. On solo rides I did ~100 or more kms before I needed a butt break.

I'm still on stock motul, couldn't try any other oil yet. Will try shell ax7 or motul 5100 soon.

About fuel economy, I got around 50kpl on solo riding and about 40kpl with pillion. However on solo rides I maintained around 65kph and 80kph with the pillion. However I didn't make any thorough calculations.
