Booked my Gixxer today. I will be taking delivery in couple of days.Since this will be the first motorcycle I will be maintaining I need help with things I need to look into
    1. Before taking delivery (pre delivery inspection)
    2. during run in period
    3. during free services

    Any help would be appreciated.

      Hi Guys,

Long time lurker here. I bought my gixxer in 2015 January. Absolutely happy with the bike. The engine is butter smooth now after 1 year. The gear shifts also became smooth after couple of services. Suzuki has put lot of thought into this bike. Some of my observations from my long term usage.

+ The rear mud guard cum bumper is a boon in traffic. It will bend and bounce back keeping you and the bike safe in bumper to bumper traffic. I had a car hit my bike and an apache from the back at once as we had to brake unexpectedly because the vehicle in front of us braked hard. The apache had a broken rear lamp while nothing happened to my gixxer. The driver was so relieved that he has to pay only for one bike.

+ Even the indicator lights didn't break when the bike fell couple of times. I saw many old FZ's with limp indicator lamps. Not sure if FZ v2 has similar indicators.

+ The battery is pretty good. Never there was a need to use kick rod, even after not using the bike for couple of weeks. It'll fire up immediately with one click of self start button. I do service my bike regularly and the service includes battery recharge every time, so that could be the reason for niggle self start.

+ Gear indicator on the console. Handy and love it.

      - The one issue I have is the folding front foot rest. I hate it when one of the foot rests is folded and I have to stop my bike and open it. Don't know what's the purpose of front foot rests folding.

      - The rear brake position is also little high for my liking.

      - Paint started chipping off on the pillion grab bars and on the black cap in between them. Even the chrome on the exhaust muffler started peeling off. And one of the nuts on the handle bar rusted. There's little rust on the disk pad too. Here is the picture of paint chipping off.

Got the exhaust chrome muffler, pillion grab handles, cap between the handles, rusted bolt replaced under warranty for free. Here's a recent picture after replacements.

Same here agree on the paint chip. It looks ugly.

          Hi Guys,

I own a Dual tone (blue and white). I would like to know if it is possible to replace the muffler tip from SF's ?

Any gixxerians over here that have gone for the same replacement ?

            Hi Guys,

You can download Gixxer Parts Catalogue from here:

Play around the site (Suzuki's site for Mexico). In general, click motos > select a model > navigate to the end of the page > Click "Ver Catalogo" to get parts catalogue.

This way, we can download catalogue for

AN125 - Uses Access 125 engine, I think. This scooter looks like new access.
            Gixxer
            Gixxer SF
            Hayate 110
            GS-150-R
            Let's scooter.

            Enjoy,
            Ashwanth.

I asked my svc. He said it's not possible to just change the muffler as the fitting is different. Maybe the whole exhaust unit could be changed?

Well that's going to be expensive. I guess I'll stick to stock one.

Guys, got my black Gixxer on the 19th of the last month. My SVC guys called me three days ago and told me that the bike's service is on 16th of this month. After than, they called me again and asked about the odo reading. It was 280km then and they were like, "Alright, give the bike for service within 20-03-2016." Currently, my bike is 330km on the odo. Shall I just go leave the bike for service on 16th/20th or wait till I cross at least 550-600km?

it's best just to follow the suzuki recommended service intervals mentioned in the manual until the warranty period. The first service is 750-1000kms or 30 days whichever is earlier. So just get your bike serviced before 20th.

There were 21 hairpins on the way bro, so I kinda know. Couldn't go crazy because of the 4500rpm limit.

Completed 4444 kms on my gixxie , problems faced till now is that the underbelly exhaust gets scraped in desi style speed breakers (bike breakers as per me) and the rear brake is a PIA all the time while on tarmac, it only locks up in sandy roads , service centre guys are from 18th century, I asked them know how about gixxer to SF conversion and they said whole Chassis needs to be replaced, I understood their peer knowledge on welding and took off, the switches are faulty , the pass switch needs a gorilla hand to operate, coming from pulsar which has the best switchgear quality I've seen till date with illumination, is what I miss most on this one, ride quality is fantastic, I've given a karizma run for its money on twisties this bike just bends, almost scraped my boots for several times, and happy that I didn't brought the hornet (was not launched even, still) hornet has thinner fork and the omission of DC and kill switch killed the hornet, it is selling just for the HONDA engine IMO.
