Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
The thing is chain cleaning costs Rs.75 and chain lubing costs Rs.75. So the total Rs.150. I got it confirmed with my friends in Chennai. They also said it cost them Rs.150. Can anyone from other parts of India confirm this?Originally posted by svivek View PostChain lubing should be charged @90Rs during service visits. Ask them to refund money.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Consumables means the little bit of grease , lubricating oil and rags etc they use during the service job . Service centers usually get oil in big drums they get from company and it should be Suzuki-approved oil . Don't worry about the oil brand , atuthorised service shall use standard oil and they know the proper type & grade . Check the oil level is right and ask them if you can bring your own oil next time .Originally posted by T-Bag View Post..Consumables - Rs. 50 .. I have no idea what the consumables mean here. Could that be some type of additives? And they haven't mentioned the brand of the engine oil. Does anyone know how much a Motul 10w40 Mineral oil cost?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
No bro, the middle portion does not turn black and in trying to do so you might over lube the chain. The result - chain lube all over the place once in motion. Just make sure to lube it well.Originally posted by shadowrider View Postguys i cleaned and lubed the chain by myself..it was the first time i am doing this...applied the lube but it doesnt stick to the middle portion...its still in the silver colur..isn't supposed to be black when the lube is applied?
And please.. Keep your fingers away when rotating the chain. I had a nasty accident with the same.
Btw, whats the oil on top of the chain guard ?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
I got the chain cleaned and lubed for Rs.90 during free service times. I once escalated this issue with Suzuki and confirmed it should be 90Rs only. Then the service guys agreed to adjust it during the next service visit. Then on it is only 90Rs for cleaning and lubing.Originally posted by T-Bag View PostThe thing is chain cleaning costs Rs.75 and chain lubing costs Rs.75. So the total Rs.150. When not in regular service visit, chain cleaning and lubing should be charged at Rs.125 in total, I guess it is inclusive of labor charges not sure about that.
This is at Erode, Tamil Nadu. Should be same everywhere, but it is very casual that they charge 150 and people never bothered to know the actual charges.
Please escalate this with Suzuki in their website -> Contact Us | Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd. with your copy of bill(optional). This will be addressed immediately.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Took my Gixxer from Kochi to Hampi via Mysore. A total of 1720 kms over 4 days riding.
Some observations:
The bike cruises fine between 60 - 70 kmph and stresses out beyond 80kmph. Touched 111kmph at one point on an open highway. But i felt that any speed beyond 80 was not good for the bike. Felt the engine was under great stress. Moreover wind blast was shaking the bike, though i was in crouching posture.
I know Gixxer is definitely not a cruiser or a tourer, but then i felt she is not a racer or a commuter either. Jack of all trades but master of none.
The bike is best suited for the twistees. She did so well at the curves that at one point i leaned sideways so much that my shoe scrapped the road. She took the hairpin bends in both Nadugani churam and Thamarassery churam like a breeze. She is so steady and under control, that she gives you so much confidence at the curves.
Another issue i felt is that the bike performed well during early morning hours when atmospheric temperature was relatively cool. But as the sun went up, the bike struggled to keep up especially in the rides during noon. Rode through Chithradurga - Hospet - which is almost 40 degrees during noon and 23 degrees in the early mornings. I think that either the stock oil is no good or that the bike requires more oil. Something to do with the engine cooling.
Any advice would be helpful.

Something is wrong with your bike, especially power delivery after 90kmph.Originally posted by rev View PostTook my Gixxer from Kochi to Hampi via Mysore. A total of 1720 kms over 4 days riding.

I rode mine for 6hrs straight without break 530km cruising 95-100kmph . Engine is good robust one, only problem I experience is with self start which takes time to start after revving the engine high continuously during the ride.

I was able to ride it around 85-95 kmph without discomfort(except the wind).Originally posted by rev View PostThe bike cruises fine between 60 - 70 kmph and stresses out beyond 80kmph. The engine does get heated up, I have seen it too.
If I may ask, when did you last service it(in kms)?

While I'd like to endorse the use of rear disc brakes, it is really not needed for this bike.
And yes, suzuki has started playing with customers like other brands. I thought it would stop with gixxer sf.
Now they're just introducing new models with rear disc, then FI, skid plate...why can't they bring a complete package with a 250 CC at least!? Only good addition are the new color schemes...they should take a look at yamahas and introduce some killer graphics.
And I can't bear how people are desperate for these minor changes. Please see the suzuki motorcycle India page on facebook and amgixxer page too. Sometimes it's funny. Sometimes I feel we're being played on. Oh no college kids are waiting to brag about how awesome they are riding at 100 kmph on a gixxer, with a rear disc, with a dual tone color and FI :| :| :|
I'd anyway advice someone to get this bike with a rear disc. But I'd also advice the same person to divert the 2500Rs towards brand new gloves which are way more important that a metal disk. Also if you're spending on the gixxer sf that would come with FI, then please don't. It loses the value for money for a 150 CC bike. Wait until 250 CC is released with FI and disc and ABS

After market filter? Yes. You can get it online too. Stock? better consult a showroom.Originally posted by shadowrider View PostGuys will the oil filter of fz s comparable for us?
Please stick to stock. Please.Last edited by srinath2494; 04-21-2016, 04:47 PM.
