weekly update
there was something special in store for the raccoon this weekend. Initially it was planned to be a quick solo dash up the athirapilly twisties; but this plan got a hit when my buddies decided they too wanted to tag along, especially the one who recently got himself a supersport and had the exact same thought i had in mind this weekend; to start early and make use of the totally vacant twisties to see how far can push the bikes to. I had my share of doubt when it was decided i should try to hit the track later this year or early next one; but my doubts included the combination of my body weight and the fact that the raccoon was the lower powered one among the rc twins and may not be a good sport on the track if i am the one who is riding it (yes im heavy north of 85kilos).So it was the weekend, and i had prepped up the bike last night itself. woke up even before the alarm went off (i usually wake up only after snoozing the alarm a million times on office days)
Headed out to the twisties, i was joined by my friends on the way, the friend who had the daytona was still learning the ropes on the new machine hence was conservative on making use of the deserted roads, and me doing the sweep duty was left braking every now and often , thereby killing my plans to test out the potential. I then had enough , signalled the other two that im going lead and a gear down and i was in front; from there i had just an empty road in front of me full of twists and curves all of which were kind of familiar to almost every tiny detail since we were riding on these roads for that long as far as we could remember riding motorcycles.
So i had the suspension stiffened up to counter my body weight and try to reduce the jumping effect, i started taking the curves casually till the point where i could just see that i could easily go flat out of the corners, without scaring the hell out of me nor feeling as slow as expected. It was like i could just use the whole powerband out there unlike the case of a much more powerful bike where we would have to tone down the throttle each time to avoid the extra horses kicking us in the gut. Then i realized what exactly an RC 200 brought with it onto the table; a really sporty bike with just enough power that could be used wholly on a small circuit without the need to go soft on the throttle. It was indeed my kind of perfect for the job bike, it can do my share of daily commute as well as be the 100% useable bike on the track. I had my earlier doubts erased away and put in its place a determined decision that raccoon is going to the track very soon.
