I'll most probably go for michelins!

If you don't mind spending the extra 2k for the michelins, do get them ! Mrf's approx 3500 and Michelin approx 5500rs.
I just had the rear on my D200 changed a few minutes ago (due to a huge puncture that couldn't be repaired). The michelin almost immediately made the ride feel plusher and the grip was good too. The mrf never felt this way even when it was new.
Will ride a few 100km more and see how it fares and post my feedback. Am praying it rains so that i could test its wet grip, the mrf's were pathetic in the wet !

@Ajay Vishwanath i tried doing what you said again this morning, i was riding at 20kmph and slammed the rear brake as much as i could, there was no locking but a really slow deceleration most of which i assume was due to engine braking and i tried it again while pressing the clutch at 10 kmph, no major effect.

Do try all these antics.. just follow all the few things i mentioned earlier. the rear braking will improve (as in sharp bite/rear wheel lockup) and be better after a few 1000km.
that's what i have noticed on the 200's.

Annoying noise in RC 200

Hey guys,
I got my RC 200 a week back. After 2 days I started facing thud thud plastic sound near the chain. I have taken the bike to the SVC 3-4 times, they were able to reproduce it easily but not able to solve it. It's very irritating noise and it comes whenever I go over potholes or speed bumps. Its seems like the chain is hitting the chain guide.
SVC guys did tighten the chain but it didn't resolve the issue completely. Next day another service engineer said that the chain is too tight, so he loosened it and only made it worse.
They have told me to ride the bike for 2 more days and give feedback to them again. Has anyone faced this issue before? Also can this issue be resolved?

But I'll see if im doing something wrong and am not pressing the brakes enough if not I'll have to get it checked, i have to rely on the front brakes for now.

What is your current ODO reading? I think it should be close to 1K, if yes something is not right. Mine had the same effect as you experienced only till I reach home from the showroom on the D day. After which Moto GP like fishtailing whenever I do panic rear braking (I was not used to front disk brakes). Now, I have slowly started to love that fish tailing but well in a more controlled fashion. I still remember telling my brother not to touch the rear brake, when he took it for a spin!

Guys, tomorrow I am planning to visit SVC to check about replacement of broken coolant container. I hear a strange thud sound (like a hard plastic box hitting something) when I go over a pothole or even when getting out of a speedbreaker. I feel this sound comes from the left rear or under pillion seat. For over a week I am experiencing it and trying to find out where exactly its coming from. I can hear it with helmets on, so it should be bit loud. However, when I try to reproduce the sound by going over a pothole or something similar I am not getting that sound . Anyone experienced it. I don't know what to complain or where to point out to the guys at SVC. I checked the chain slackness, it not loose.

He loosened it? It should have been tightened. If this doesnt help try cleaning both the sprockets. Be careful while opening the front sprocket cover. Use a closed end spanner to avoid unnecessary wear on the screws.

Something seems wrong with mine from day1, i thought it will be alright in a few days since its new, the problem is it has very very little braking power i feel, even when i'm doing barley 10-15 kmph and i use just the rear brake there seems to be little effect, first noticed it when i was riding around 30-40kmph and to check the power i pressed just the rear brake lever completely and still no noticeable effect, when i went for the service and mentioned the problem, they said it will correct soon as the bike is new, i said its been 50 days, i think it should've been corrected by now, they said then you didn't use the rear brake at all (which isn't true a bit) and pointed at the disc showing no wear, i still asked them to check it and after that the lever feels a little tight but still no effect even when i push the lever completely, what seems to be the problem here and how to correct it?

Bleed the rear brake fluid completely. I had this issue on my duke.

Funnily, i didn't go to the service centre and tried one thing, pressing the rear brake hard every time i want to slow down, i can say that the rear brakes have improved a lot since then, no locking but good braking power and i feel like it'll braking will be powerfull soon enough, and will continue using them normally then.

Locking would happen only on gravel or under panic braking, normally they dont lock. My duke 390 rear brake locked only once on loose gravel.

So i guess my brakes are ok now, good braking power, before it wouldn't even slow down 10-15 kmph and today i stopped it at a signal using rear brake only from ~40 kmph

Guys today I test rode the RC 390, and since Rc 200 was unavailable at the moment I'll be going for that tomorrow. This will be my first bike(Although I didn't have any problem managing 390 cc unlike what I thought). I was planning on making the booking for RC 390 today itself, however the showroom manager completely changed my dad's mind about allowing me a 390 cc, although I do believe those are legitimate points, I'd just like your opinions too. My purpose is 98% city commute in Bangalore, to go to college. RC 390 its in my budget, and costs due to difference in mileage too are okay with me. However, I was told in city, RC 200 is a much better option, as its more 'peppier' and 'fun to ride' than a 390 in lower speeds and so on. He told me a 390 would be overkill for city riding, and that a 200 would be much more enjoyable.
What would you guys suggest I go for? Will the MRF tyres on the 200 be good enough for Bangalore roads, or lack of ABS be a problem if i opt for the 200? I was told in commuting i wouldn't notice any of these features. I'd like your opinions on which one I should take please.
PS I can manage the seating posture and the power, I didn't have a problem today at all, so I'd mainly like opinions regarding which one is more suitable for my situation

Guys today I test rode the RC 390, and since Rc 200 was unavailable at the moment I'll be going for that tomorrow. This will be my first bike(Although I didn't have any problem managing 390 cc unlike what I thought). I was planning on making the booking for RC 390 today itself, however the showroom manager completely changed my dad's mind about allowing me a 390 cc, although I do believe those are legitimate points, I'd just like your opinions too. My purpose is 98% city commute in Bangalore, to go to college. RC 390 its in my budget, and costs due to difference in mileage too are okay with me. However, I was told in city, RC 200 is a much better option, as its more 'peppier' and 'fun to ride' than a 390 in lower speeds and so on. He told me a 390 would be overkill for city riding, and that a 200 would be much more enjoyable.
What would you guys suggest I go for? Will the MRF tyres on the 200 be good enough for Bangalore roads, or lack of ABS be a problem if i opt for the 200? I was told in commuting i wouldn't notice any of these features. I'd like your opinions on which one I should take please.

do not go for RC.. go for the duke 390.. more fun in city traffic and short trips to the outskirts than the RC twins.. RC is serious sports and unless you are a sucker for fairing like me, I strongly suggest you go for the Duke 390 for the city commute and the 2% highway commute.. Agreed I use my RC for the city and compared to the 390, it's much better for city.. reason being that it's short geared.. which means that I can ride her at 20 kmph in 3rd gear.. and the 390 cannot.. it needs lower gear like maybe 2nd at max..

in the traffic, the RC will be taxing on your body.. not relaxed.. the 390 is more fun on the open roads.. coming to heat, the 390 produces a lot more heat than the 200 but at the end they are almost the same. but on RC the heat experience will be much more than the dukes.. thanks to the fairing.. I picked the RC coz I found it more comfortable.. other than that, I would have gone for the duke..

Pick the duke 390, it has all the features of the RC 390 except that it doesn't have a fairing and is more relaxed and a better suited for your 98% city commute..

Look, you have to decide this on your own. Personally I feel that the extra 80k for that extra 18 horsepower, ABS, and those metzelers(trust me this is a point, they have saved my ass a couple of times) is totally worth it. But remember- With great power comes great responsibility. If you are gonna be a typical fast teen on a bike, go for the 200, because these bikes;they are like stubborn kids, if you dont ride them as told, they will make sure that you get uncomfortable. I have never ridden a RC, but I own a duke 390 so I cannot comment on the seating position and stuff, but I personally feel that the heating problems occurring on the duke will be much worse on the RC, since heat dissipation will be even worse due to the fairing. Due to this it may lead to gasket failure and stuff, which will lead to coolant leakage, oil leakage and whatnot. So my suggestion will be go for the duke, not the RC. It even has a lighter clutch.(Not due to the slipper clutch but due to the presence of the revised spring setup). So check out the duke once. But hey if you are a complete sucker for fairing, nobody can stop you. RC is a pretty good bike and all those problems I mentioned are very rare in the recent batches.

AFAIK,i dont think anybody has installed the ABS for RC 200,yet.
Even if you are able to install the aftermarket ABS,it may void your warranty!!!
