Re: Kawasaki ER6N
Its almost the same on my ODO too and the same goes here too with respect to just the commute to the office, a small bit of open road and BOOM, all of a sudden the bike which was going around like any other commuter bike suddenly got an extra boost of power out of nowhere. The look at passersby who get shocked as to how easily and how quickly this beast picks up speed is astonishing. I should thank my office too for shifting its building to a far one on the outskirts of the city, hence making the ride even more enjoyableOriginally posted by Navneet.321 View PostHi guys,
The bike will complete 2 months in another 10 days, ODO already nearing 3000. The everyday rides to office have become a lot more fun. I really look forward to ride the kwacker as much as i can. All that said, i experienced something really surprising in the recent ride on the greater noida expressway. I was riding and decided to check out the limits on the kwacker and i could not go beyond 175 km/hr. I have seen other kwackers crossing the 200 mark, but mine did not even touch 180. Can somebody help me understand why it happened? One of the explanations that i could figure out was that my kawasaki z series riding jacket was a behaving like a wall, not allowing the bike to go further. I am saying this because the kind of pressure i was feeling was not funny and this did not happen the last time when i touched 175(was wearing a windcheater that time). Am i right in my inference? Or probably i did not do it properly. Do you need to redline every gear to be able to touch 200, because i kind of raced to 6th gear and kept pulling in the 6th only to realise i am out of throttle play. Can somebody help me with this????
. Coming to the speeds, so far I haven't done anything more than 150, but somehow intend to try it out soon. I believe mainly because of it being a naked bike and hence majority of the speed is contained if we try to ride at higher speeds with the regular upright position and hence one has to crouch down like a superbike and then only one can think of trying higher speeds. I too have tried the Z jacket which came with the bike, but didn't feel that bulky, but its so comfortable though even in blistering heat. May be an aftermarket windshield might help a bit with the wind blast a bit I guess, but that will spoil the look of the bike, I believe.

Here are few pics taken at the delivery...

The bike is too good. Is small though looks bigger.
The first impressions:
1. The bike is very silent.
2. The power delivery is uniform but very quick.
3. You need to be careful on the throttle as even a small twist unleashes a lot of power.
4. The saddle is more comfortable than my FZ16.
5. The ride is very smooth and i can say smoother than my fz.
6. The ground clearance is good enough as i havent scraped any breakers yet.
7. The brakes have less bite though it should improve over time.
8. You can cruise at 20kmph in 2nd gear which is the best part though not advised.
Now the small cribs:
1. Heat can be felt at lower speeds. guess thats it for now.
The bad part now.
The guys were not that enthusiastic at the delivery as we can expect. It was more of a formality than a delivery though it was the 1st er6n to be delivered in bangalore. asked me to pay for the left grab rail which is by default a must and they gave me the reason that as saree guard is given grab rail is too be paid for. Common guys. the saree guard is not a part of the bike parts when it was manufactured. the saree guard was just added to confirm to indian norms. And that doesnt mean that they will remove an accessory of the bike for approval and sell it to the same person at approx 1000rs. thats cheating. this is pathetic at the least part.
Then they give me a bike with fuel already at reserve. Whereas usually at most of the showrooms its tanked up or atleast 5L above reserve. The guys did fill up half the tank after making hulabula. When you pay 5.63l for a bike it doesnt mean we will pay for everything and absolutely doesnt mean I am rich. its hard earned money and if Kawasaki takes it for granted then its actually the wrong attitude. Why couldnt they be more cordial and customer oriented than taking for granted that as its a kawasaki I can just walk blindly and pay for everything they should give freely.
So only if raise a hue will they wake up or continue to be blind and arrogant. The bike is awesome but this episode has left a really bad impression for a day which was otherwise supposed to be awesome and memorable.
Guys will update you on the beast as i munch more miles....
Hey Charan.
I did face the same issue with them putting only 5 litre of fuel.
But otherwise bikes fantastic.
The Saree guard almost gave me a heart attack.

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
finally got time to update my ownership thread.
Its been 2 years and 38000kms since i first got the beast home. i will keep this update small and summarise the entire experience with the beast.
i have since long stopped keeping track of the number of services i have done on the bike and now do the maintenance every time the oil becomes unfit for usage. i have stopped relying on ktm service centres for service and either do it myself or go to someone i can trust my bike with. go to the service centre only when i am not able to find anyone to do it or a major work needs to be done.
even getting after market stuff for the bikes is next to impossible.
1. why not the service centre?
(a) costly.
(b) many dont know what to do except regular maintenance.
(c) most havent seen the bike so dont stock spares.
(d) I dont stay in one place for too long.
(e) regular maintenance is easy and I can do it myself.
2. why I go to service centre?
(a) for purchasing oil filter.
(b) for replacing parts like chain sprocket.
(c) for telling them any problems and telling them how it can be rectified if they dont know.
3. changes in my bike.
(a) levers got bent and none of the service centres had stock so for temp time got a replica done by the local metal workers for 400rs and used them while i searched for the replacements. got hold of aftermarket levers for 3200rs. apparently the 2009 650s had the same levers.
(b) changed the chain sprockets at 27000kms and they costed me 15000rs and a wait of 2 months after i ordered it. there was life left in it but the sprockets were damaged when the mechanic changing my tires at 14k tightened the chain too much.
(c) changed from stock tires to michelin pr2 at 14k and later to metz at 32k. the pr2 was good but the metz sucks. i keep slipping on curves. was forced to go with metz after the pr2 were totally gone and no tires were available.
(d) changed the tail tidy to ones made by flyby moto after my indicators broke and replacements were unavailable and costed a lot and had to wait for it to be sent all the way from japan. used ktm indicators along with it. the tidy was 2199rs and the indicators 1200rs.
(e) changed the stock brake pads to ebc ones after the stock ones gave up. but changed only the front ones as the rear still has a lot of life left in it mostly because it never worked properly and we learnt to use only front brakes.
(f) will be changing the stock air filters to k&n 6512 tom. the filter was never changed till date.
(g) flyby moto is getting a skid plate ready for the bike in the coming few weeks and planning to get it fixed stock ones failed to protect my oil filter from a stone and the filter ended up being punctured and me driving the bike in neutral from somewhere near natula to gangtok.
4. problems i have experienced and their solution.
(a) hissing noise in front of the tank on the left.
the vacuum tube is cut and u need to cut the damaged part and fix it back.
(b) trip mileage showing 99kmpl. its common in all er6ns afik. nothing to worry.
(c) scarcity of spares. plan ahead and stock them.
(d) sound from chain. chain maintenance required. keep it lubed regularly. if on long trips use engine oil instead chain lube. engine oil though dirty keeps the chain well maintained.
5. living with it.
(a) its relatively a premium bike for me so obviously everything related to it costs me and you learn to appreciate the money.
(b) maintenance requires time and money so be ready for it.
(c) spares will be hard to get and costly. better to have the essentials like oil filter and levers stocked up at home.
(d) it will be easier if you knew how to do basic maintenance yourself for emergencies as well as saving on time and money, changing oil and chain maintenance.
(e) since the warranty expired i have started doing all the work myself after setting up a small garage wherever i am and getting my hands dirty.
6. and yes now the pics.

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
I think its resolved now, mine shows an average of 23 kmpl and it has never shown a wrong value as you have mentioned, I guess the latest ones were rectified..Originally posted by cheran4200 View Postfinally got time to update my ownership thread.

Kawasaki servicing issues in Mumbai
Hi all, I wanted to give my ER6N in for servicing in Mumbai's Lower Parel Kawasaki shop, but the told me they have broken ties with KTM and during this transitionary period will be unable to get me my oil filter for the service. They have asked me to get the oil filter myself and then come in for the service.
I cannot understand why Kawasaki would not have an oil filter ready for a production motorcycle regardless of their broken "ties" with KTM.
Also, could anyone help me with where I could find an oil filter so I can give my bike for service..... I've been waiting for their reply for 6 weeks now.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
The left grab handle wont be present. Thats that way only. You have to order it at Kawasaki and replace the saree guard with a new left grab handleOriginally posted by jinnn_1989 View PostI have a doubt about er6n. i just bought a new er6n yesterday and at night i noticed that the saree gaurd is fitted to my bike but on that left side above saree gaurd they have not given holder (or what every it is called, kindly let me know what that part is called) but is given on right side. i am attaching a picture ok it. Re: Kawasaki ER6N
When I bought my bike last year in June, I bought the left grab handle from a KTM service center, I presume these should be in stock even now at most of them, but the bike's color had undergone a slight change and hence the grab handles were all available of the older model, i.e., 2014 one, which was a matte finished one, but I needed the glossy one just like the on on the right side, but then I came to know that to buy the gloss painted grab handle it costs a whopping 7K and so I bought the matte finished handle itself and got it painted to gloss at a local painter here costing in total of 2.5k and one cannot make the difference now as to which one is the painted one and which one came with the bike. Check out all KTM service centers in your city, one of them would have stocked it or else you may have to check in Mumbai, I inquired about the same from Andheri KTM showroom in Mumbai, you too can do the same I guess if its not available anywhere in your city, I contacted them through their FB page.Originally posted by jinnn_1989 View PostCAn any one from here help me to get the Left Grab Rail part for ER6N asap.
