If you asked me this is what i find after driving AS for ~200 KMs in the last 4 days...

In the city if you want to do some quick maneuvering then NS will be better. (however, NS is currently not available, production is slowed / stopped)

The front quarter fairing of AS does feel slightly heavy in stop and go traffic (I used to drive a Pulsar 200 DTsi before so it may be personal opinion).

Although I am saying AS is a bit more heavy I did find it very manageable in the traffic.
Although I would prefer a lighter bike in city, AS is very good if you drive in city at non peak traffic hours.

If you will drive it more on highway or to travel between towns / cities, then AS will be the better choice eyes closed.

Congratulations! I haven't noticed any issue with the steering yet. The bike is definitely a bit stiff, but it's adjustable. I'm not sure what setting my bike is at, though. Vibes are there, but not so much after the first service. Even when they were present, they weren't so much as to cause a problem. I completely agree with you on the indicator, especially operating the switch when wearing gloves. Switch gear is also, as you said, just about decent. But again, it wasn't a dealbreaker to me. I hope you have a great time on your new bike!

@anand.js Please don't mind, but I'm just curious to know why you're switching from the CBR to the AS200?

@
anarchy911 the AS is a better bike if you plan on touring or ride a lot on highways. Otherwise the NS is a great machine.

From the pictures, I am not quite liking the mudgaurd. How does it look in real?

But this may be limited to my bike alone.
My bike veers towards left when i leave the handle bars. This happens in all the speeds (upto 55). I have checked my tyre pressure (25 front, 28 rear).
It is so bad that I have to catch the handle bars back again else it veers very dangerously. The only way I can keep it straight is by shifting my weight towards right.

Also, when I twist the handle bar to complete left, i feel a spongy feeling and I can see some wires are obstructing the handle bar to remain at complete left.
If i leave at complete left, handle bar will just push it self back a few millimeter out. This does not happen to the right side though.

I brought this to the notice of Khivraj SC guy immediately. He took a small drive and said no problem.
After I prodded another senior guy came, did the same and says may be the front tyre has to wear down evenly. It will take 1000 KMs or so
. Seriously ? And I needed all my patience and zen to keep calm, smile to them and walk out.

I felt no point in coming to Khivraj for service.

I plan to take it to Auto Service in banashankari for my first service and let them resolve it. Let me know if they are still good or not. I have read about them on XBHp and this will be the first time I will be going to them.

-->I need help from guys here to suggest best way to resolve this. What should I suspect here? Will this be easily rectified?
Get the cone set replaced and fork aligned. Oil level should be same in both forks.

Why sell the CBR ?
Had big upgrade plans in mind, was getting a buyer with a very good offer for the CBR. Hence sold it off in a rush, later realized that I dint do my math right, Upgrade had to wait.
Initially thought will manage without a bike, but taking the car everywhere wasn't really sensible and I was too huge to fit in my Wife's little Yamaha Ray Hence, was on the look out for a standby bike.

Why buy AS200?
I had a P220 before the CBR, like quarter-faired bikes. Liked the tourer like stance of the AS200, reliable engine and relaxed seating for both rider and pillion.

Hmm, well it does look a little odd from certain angles but its something that can be ignored and lived with. Not a major eyesore.

Does the 150 and the 200 have the same forks upfront ? Looking at the pics now, the forks felt a lil undersized.

re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences

I guess a little late for party..

I bought AS200 from Kalyani Bajaj on 23rd April. I checked many showrooms but almost everyone was quoting 1-2 week delivery time. Kalyani Bajaj told me that they have one in black colour available, for other colours I have to wait for atleast 4-5 days. I didn't wanna wait therefore paid the full amount and got the delivery same day.

Observations till first service.
1. Engine is smooth till 4K and after that vibrations creeps in, not much but you can feel them. Due to run-in period I haven't drive it past $K RPMS's.
2. Gear ratio is short, therefore you have to constantly shift up and down in traffic.
3. Due to vibrations above 4K RPM fairing is making a little noise.
4 Gears are not as smooth.
5. Bike is nimble, not hard to maneuver in traffic, handling is good.
6. Headlight throw at lower beam is just okay, might be due to fact that my higher expectation from projector headlamp.

After first service:
Had first service at 575 KMs. Gears are smooth now. Also vibrations have decreased but sound from fairing above 5K RPM is still there, although it has reduced a bit. I complained about it to Bajaj ASS guys, they said they checked but didn't find any issues with fairing. I'm the sound will go on it's own once engine smoothes out further
Raj_Kumar
My bike also had the same balance issue. But it sorted out after first service.

Agree on all of these except 3.
I do feel the vibrations from 4K to 5K RPM but no fairing noise.

On Point 6, completely agree. I think the bulb used is not good enough. May be a better bulb will be good.

-->Guys, any suggestions for which bulb to use in a projector lends setup?

One of the main reasons for me to choose AS200 over gixxer SF was for the projector headlamp. And as of now it has not wowed me

Few more things I will add to the list
7. Front suspension creates a thud noise when i go into a pot hole or go above a speed breaker even at relatively low speeds like 20. It's not that there is complete suspension travel, but I will hear a distinct thud noise.
-->Did others feel this?

8. The angle of the gear lever is a bit less and it feels mostly parallel to ground. so when i try to change from first to second, i need to twist my leg up a lot more.
I had this problem with the Test drive vehicles in Kasturba road and Indiranagar show rooms. But I did NOT have this issue with RS200. And I can visually see that the angle of the lever in RS is much downward than in AS. Not sure why they made it this way in AS.
--> Khivraj Kastuba SC guy was saying that the lever angle can be adjusted. Need to see if that is possible.

9. Engine Heat. I see that the engine heats up a lot in stop and go traffic and when the radiator is ON, i can feel the hot air blowing onto my leg. May be this is similar to what NS does too, but my old Pulsar 200 was not creating this much heat to my legs.
May be after engine run in, it will run more cooler.

10. Self start does not know that Engine is already running, it will still try to start the engine.
My old Pulsar 200 had this feature where if the Engine was already running it would not try to start again.
Looks like there is a lot of cost cutting by Bajaj .

Guys, having projector lights doesn't mean you will have day light brightness. It will just have better spread of the light and proper cut off for on coming vehicles.

For better intensity switch over to HID or LED's, having HID in projectors isn't a cop magnet.

Before all this, try to lower the headlight. If it is focused higher then your light intensity on road might be less.

Vibes - should be sorted out once the engine properly sets in, wait for 2K-2.5K kms switch to semi-synth oil and check out.

The projectors work real well with HID/LED, if you are switching to HID, please stick to 4.3K kelvin ones, anything above that is decorative and looses out in rainy or foggy conditions.

Gear lever angle can be adjusted, its simple DIY or you can get it fixed at the SVC center

True, like you said new engine tends to heat up a bit, should be sorted in a while.
