    You mean auto choke ?

Regarding gear ratios, I don't think you really have to worry much. These guys are just playing around with the costumes, not doing much from engine perspective to make the bike a tourer or street bike. Soon you may even see a Avenger with same engine.

If someone can confirm the speed of 200NS @ 4000rpm it would be easy for you to compare.

If enough force isn't applied, the box gets stuck on neutral. This could be a simple DIY, but not sure if have the tools will head to Svc Center to lower the levers a bit.

I am facing the same issues in my 1000 km old RS200. The gear box is too lousy to live with! Things improved a bit after 800 km but it is still far from the smoothness I felt with my Karizma. I am not sure though if this is due to high positioning of the lever.

Hello AS200 owners, I have some couple of questions, if you could please be kind to answer em.
          - Could you please tell me whether the turning radius of this bike is same as that of NS or worse?
          - How does it perform in the city?
Bajaj guys keep saying that, its the same bike NS with a fairing - is it so?

Since AS is almost 8kgs heavier than NS,
          what are the mileage figures?
Is the performance same as the NS (top speed, acceleration) ?
It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

Oops, sorry.. Yes I meant the Auto choke. But I took the bike to a near by Bajaj ASC and realized there is no Auto Choke present in the NS/AS. In fact the 'Choke' was left engaged during delivery of the bike and that was causing the RPMs to climb at Idle. This issue is now solved.

Regarding the Gear Ratios, I have no issues with the bike. Its doing 57Kmph at 4K rpm which is normal as its supposed to. What I was wondering is this bike has shorter gearing than a lesser powered/ 5 speed 220. Especially since this is aimed at the touring market would have helped if the 6th was taller for calmer cruising. But I get your point, they just wanted to push out another variant without making many changes.

Yup, the gear lever is tad high, might need to lower the lever by 0.5 inch atleast. Else I am having to really stretch my ankle to upshift, not sure if this is the case with all the bike. I have 11 size feet, still the issue. There is provision to lower the lever, the SA confirmed it, will get it done during the first service. As of now, the shifts are clunky, only issue is upshifting from 1st to 2nd, gets held up at Neutral. Also, 3rd to 4th is a bit hard, then again the bike is only 100kms old.

Changed the Oil at 100kms, the oil and the filter was pitch black but the Oil they refilled it with looked like dilute grease. The SA confirmed it was Bajajs home grown DTSi oil. They dont come in cans, they pumped it out of a big container into a filthy mug. Well, the SA said thats what gets filled at the factory too, I had no other choice than to trust him. I guess, since its for Svc center use, they dint use any coloring agent. From first service on I am sticking to Motul 5100 SS oil though.

Nope. I really love half fairing bikes. And my heart said i need to go for AS. The bike is simply great when i took the test drive. The Grand bajaj here is known for exceptionally well service. They let me take as my drives i wish. I was really satisfied with seating comfort and gear shifts. Although false neutral was causing headache. The view of that half fairing from riders side is amazing. Well atleast for me . The pillion comfort is also good. The best part i love is, this bike can be used as a decent looking tourer a mild man as well as a brute(as bajaj says). Mood shifts

Yes, they are short geared to compensate the increase in weight. The ol 220 does 64 @ 4K RPM in 5th gear. I find even the AS Gearing to be very short, I keep searching for an upshift even while on the 6th gear.

That said, I have covered about 200kms, find the engine to be super vibey as of now. Pushed the bike to about 6K RPM the vibes are ridiculous! dint have the courage to see what 7K felt like. At 6th gear, a twist to the throttle doesn't replicate to the Tacho, the motor gains speed at its own accord. With a downshift, bike gathers pace better at the cost of a neat massage thro the seat and foot pegs.

Buddy, 6k RPM during run-in period is bad for the engine. The smoothness will increase after the first service, take it easy with the throttle till that time.

For my bike, I felt very mild vibrations that too in just one power band on 6th gear: around 65 kmph. But post 70 kmph, the bike went smooth as ever.

Yup, I keep the engine at around 4K~4.5K rpm, gradually getting there. But I did push it slowly to about 6K rpm on couple of occasions for a few seconds.

The user manual suggests we ride at under 47kmph for 1000 kms, which is less than 3.5K rpm! In reality not sure how possible that is.

I agree, 3.5k RPM seems too low. But I had to do what I had to do.

On a lighter note, I was planning to get a tattoo done on the back of my palm to constantly remind me to keep RPM below 3.5k!!!
