its advisable to keep mineral oil till 5k.
svc told me if grade is same no issues in warranty just keep purchase receipt of oil when u buy.
can u share pic of switch u got got hazard light functions also one pic after installing it will help me to install it
You are going to switch back to bajaj oil??
And I havent got the hazard lights installed yet as it requires opening the headlight assembly. So I will get that done in the second service. Will post the pics when its done in a few weeks time. I am quite worried though about the fairing noise after the mod because my bike is rattle free as of now and when I went to the svc there were two guys with AS just for fairing noises.

And I had a heated argument With manager when I asked him that when I come for service I will bring my own oil and will not go for dtsi oil. He argued it will void warrenty even if its the same grade oil. Will write to bajaj and ask for clarification regarding that. Also if I switch to motul 7100 is 4100km to early for that? I read somewere that it may cause engine glazing. Dont know what that means though.
Run Minerals till Second service. Let the new Dtsi OIL churn a bit, and change it like after 2 months, and Switch. The old Abrazed thick oil is cleansed off from the parts inside before you change, thats what i did.

Opening the headlight assembly is not that hard actually, need a lot of patience and right set of tools, thats all. I had to open it myself after idiots at the SVC messed the highbeam projection, it f-ing beamed at second floor of my bldg when close by.

SVC are strict with putting in DTSi oil during service, their rules or void warranty.

When i change the oil to a different brand do i need to flush the engine with petrol or something to take out the residual oil or do i just drain the old one and pour in the new one?

        • How should I maintain my new bike

          Hi all,
I have a bajaj pulsar as200 about a month ago. I've done about 750 kilometers on it so far.. I haven't crossed a top speed of 65 kmph on the sixth gear yet. It's time for the first service.

          I have a couple of questions :
          1. Can I ride the bike a bit faster after a complete thousand kilometers?
          2. Can I get the clutch settings adjusted. It's too soft (half-clutch) and loose.
          3. What mandatory things I should follow to maintain it well.

          This is my first bike.

            Hi All,

I bought the AS 200 two weeks before and have been riding this bike for a week. I had followed the "Limiting the RPM" advice from forums and from the guide till day before yesterday. But for some reasons, I had to take the RPM between 6-7K RPM for the last two days. I had to travel 24 KM to office. So, I had broken the revving limitation for around ~ 95 KMs. Does this have any negative impact on the bike? Can I continue to ride below 49 KMPH?

Secondly, I got my rear disc locked twice. And without knowing( I experience airlock for the first time. So I didn't know that rear disc was locked ), I had ridden the bike to around 2 KMS .

I also experience some more problems.
            1. Feeling of fuel getting blocked.
            2. Humming sound during "slowing down" after reaching higher RPMs
            3. Improper Idling ( 1.5K sometimes and near 2.6K sometimes )

As I am nearing my first service ( now am at 470 KM ), can you please advice whether to check anything regarding the above problems.

Forgive me, I could not describe some problems with their actual technical terms.

            THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE.

na na i mean i change bajaj oil after each 3k , after 10k i will switch to motul.
don't worry ask them to fix it properly. i had one small fall so to replace parts they opened full flaring but its still the same no vibes

                1. I have narrowed down to Motul 5100 15W50 to ditch the dtsi oil. What will be the right time to change to this oil? And is it ok to use 15W50 instead of the recommended 20W50 because this the only one available online and there is no availability in the local market here.

                2. I do a lot of touring which involves night driving as well. I have been trying to find some decent strobe lights for better night time visibility and avoid rear ending but couldn't. Is there a way to blink all four indicators as a hazard light while driving and when parked?
I tired this diy to remove battery saving features to at least turn on the parking lights when parked on the highway at night but could not find the relay he was talking about. Maybe you guys could help me with that.

                3. Has anyone tried using an engine cover/guard for the looks. Were could I find one, maybe online?

                4. Will this ABS be any good for safety?
                http://www.ebay.in/itm/321742049998?...DPA_Automotive
Well for the hazard lights, I suggest you get a switch and short the positive terminals of your front indicators.. All four should blink when you turn on your indicator.. just turn the switch off, to return to stock

No, oil system is pressurized, never run any thing other than oil, and that too at specified viscosity. To cleanse cruddy oil (which by the way never happens if you change it before regular intervals, may be after 20,000km after running the same oil), run minerals prematurely for like a two weeks, that should be enough.

Do not rev hard (i mean sudden to full yanks at the throttle) after an oil change, let it churn properly, effects of the new oil only show up after a 100kms or later.

                  1) fuel blocking? - you mean the delay in throttle response after 80k's? Its normal, thats how carb'd engines work (pulsars aren't factory race tuned, okay thats sarcasm), changing AFR's might shorten the delay (can someone back this theory up???)

2)Humming sound? - Can you narrow it down? Under braking maybe?

                  3) There is a Black cork on the right hand engine side, turn it anti-clock while the bike is idling at stand (N), turn it slowly and set it to idle at 1.5k (a little more than that is fine), mind you, that 1.5 at traffic pull can shut throttle and stall (add race before pulling off)

                  4) Don't race/speed hard under initial 500, ride religiously at 40-70kmph, I know we're all tempted to see what the new bike can do, but dont. Once twice thrice is pretty cool, dont overdo it.

Thank you very much for the response....

                    1. It happens in much lower RPMs. I slow down my bike, and when I accelerate again, I feel as if I am hitting reserve ( sometimes not always ).
                    2. Yes, the sound comes when I reach some higher RPMs ( shouldn't have done that in the first place ) and then apply brakes. Does not happen on lower RPMs.
                    3. The idling I understand. But the thing is, the idling is not regular at all times. Could it be a fault carb setting?
                    4. I tried to follow, but HAD TO break for two days . Now am continuing to keep the speed below 49 KMPH. Do you think I should check for parts that could have been worn out because of this during my first service ( tomorrow most probably ) ?

                    Thanks again.

The position of the brake is as such that on my 1100km run I had severe pain in the ankle as I had to bend it a little too much. So tried putting the brake lever down but that was not enough and it left the rear brakes on permanently. So instead I have increased the height of the foot peg.
Got a rubber foot peg from local auto parts store for Rs 20 and a small length of stainless steel wire. You can use any other flexible wire but it should not rust.

I tried squeezing it over the foot peg but the rubber was too brittle and it cracked so i cut it in half and did this.

You will need a plier to work on the wires. Just wrap then with wire and twist them on the bottom and cut of the extra and fold it so that its not visible.
It does not ruin the asthetics if done neatly and the brake lights work ok
Bro why cannot you have done this ... as shown below in the pic ... Would it interfere with the normal functioning of the brake .. Taking nothing away from your idea this was just an afterthought -

I asked the service center to do this and he brought it down just two notches but it barely made any difference. Plus the rear brake became spongy and the lever sometimes got stuck down with brake lights on. had to pull the lever up everytime to turn off the parking brake. If i brought it down too much then the brakes would always be engaged so it was a no go.

Makes sense... no point putting life and limb in danger for a little ergonomics ... I was thinking of doing this onto my NS however saw this post in time to ask you this .. thanks for the update on the query bro

You can mod as i did it barely costs Rs 20 and 15 minutes of your time and will give you comfort on long rides.

Lower RPM? thats wrong. If you're suddenly opening that throttle at very low speeds and incorrect gear then carb engines react real slow. Stay withing same speed-gear while maintaining nominal RPM stage. I wouldn't know for sure how bad it is your end though.

Braking has a hum to it and thats normal, unless its from something else that is loud.

Nah dude, no need to replace parts, thats silly. forged metals dont wear out like wood my man...chillax its all good. Although stay vigilant at the SVC,after the service is done, examine the bike before riding, i mean like really really look at every detail. check chain tension, headlight beam (if they messed it up, like they did mine). Oil level. Coolant level, brake fluid at the back, take it for a ride, preferably with the guy incharge, before you ride out home. Check Clutch play, brake play, everything. And above all, for damages, dont believe everything they say, some are bunch of no-brainers with tools.

Moving from Noida to Bangalore and taking my Pulsar with me. Need to depart next week.
To handle NOC-related work, an agent is quoting Rs. 2800. He said he'll courier the stuff (including the original RC that I have to hand over) to my Bangalore address.
Is this the regular amount that is charged?
I suppose I'll have to pay life-time road tax in Bangalore again?
Is there a dedicated thread for this stuff as well?
