Guys - I am thinking about this bike and would really love some feedback from people who own the 600i.

    1. My ride is going to be 90% in the city and 10% on the highway. Is 600i well geared towards those 10% of highway rides.
    2. How is the pillion comfort in 600i. I want my wife to accompany me and not feel too uncomfortable. This is going to be probably 2-3% of my rides.
    3. Is there enough wind protection or you need some aftermarket screen? I test rode the street triple and was really put off by the wind blast felt at high speeds.
    4. What would be approx yearly maintenance cost + insurance cost for the 600i.
    5. Comparing to the 302, is the riding stance/seat less comfortable?
    6. Do you get a test ride for 600i? I am planning to check it out tomorrow.

My history - Yamaha 135, Pulsar 180 DTSi, Honda VFR 800, Hero Honda Karizma ZMR.

Recently my uncle bought the TNT 600 GTS, so we decided to go on a short road trip to Gold Valley on Mulshi road. This place is around 100 kms from Pune, and is mix of good and extremely bad road patches, a good way to test the comfort factor and how efficient the suspension and brakes are on my 600. The best part though was the weather, even though its not raining much in Pune, we did get quite a lot of rain on the way there it was an awesome experience for us both.

The last time i rode on this route was when I had the KTM Duke 200, and since the suspension setup on the Duke is quite hard, used to have a tough time overcoming this stretch of tarmac. Keeping the bad experiences in mind, we started riding off to Mulshi. The time we touched this rough patch on Paud road its was quite surprising as to how well the 600i was soaking up bumps. Still my wife sitting behind was having a tough time over the bumps. I decided to change the preload setting on the bike, (which let me to you guys, in case you aren't aware that the 600i comes with both rebound dampening and preload adjustments at the rear, wherein the preload setting can be changed without any tools, by just shifting it a few clicks as per your requirement, and its 28 preload settings in total to stiffen and soften your ride). Shifting it to a more softer setting really did the work and the bike breezed through that rough patch effortlessly, all the time I just had a big grin on my face and I just couldn't stop smiling inside my helmet, since my wife was comfortable as well now.

On the wet roads, the Pirelli's were exceptional. One other thing I wanted to point out is that, in my previous log I had mentioned that the rear brakes do feel numb upto some extent, but this time round, to my surprise i received a phenomenal feedback from them every time I braked. In fact I was so thrilled that for a few kilometers I hardly used the front brake just to enjoy that feel .

The GTS too performed fantastic as per my uncle it was his first ride immediately after the delivery. He said the gear ratios are so good that it feels like using an automatic. Most of the time on the long stretches he used just the sixth gear right from speed as low as 25kmph and the bike just kept surging forward without a hiccup. So tumbs up for the GTS as well .
      Nice bikes!!

Guys what Brand are those rear shocks??
As we know Benelli also offers a "R" model of 600 with Marzocchi forks, Sachs rear unit & Brembos factory fitted any news of "R" version landing our shores??

If you are riding in crappy traffic then you can expect engine heat , It goes smooth on highways without any vibrations . Pillion seat is comfortable but its not as good as Kawa 650 or benelli 600gt or any harley .

As the nature of the bike is being naked you need windshield . insurance per year is some what 17k .
300 is 35kg lesser in weight and riding stance is very good

Contact benelli for test ride , in Bangalore they have 600i for TD .

          Good luck

After extremely saddening non-anticipated wait, My Bike has arrived the dealership.
I will be going to pick up the bike on Sunday now.
Too sad that the dealership made the whole experience so bitter for me.
I love the bike but I so do not feel like visiting the showroom and get into their sweet talks again.
                  Just need my bike.
God knows how these people are going to handle the services.

btw, all those who are happy owners already, were you a part of the pdi ? If not, did they give you enough time to check everything ? If yes, any specific area anyone looked into ??

COngrats Sanket....i dont know man you have been waiting for your bike for so long...and after all the false commitments, you are getting it finally.

I booked mine from the same showroom on 28th June .. but after seeing your experience I doubt if I am gonna get it by the date they have committed i.e. 25th July

Keeping my fingers crossed....having said that, I have started to doubt the after sales service as well. But it should not be a problem once they roll out some decent numbers of bikes on the road and the sales down south r really good like 100 bikes in 90 days..so spares and after sales should be satisfactory.

But the thing is that the guys at the showroom told me that the delay in the delivery is due to the fact that they are delivering to the customers who had booked the vehicle before its launch...and at that time they were not committing to any delivery date.

And now they are delivering to those customers first...i dont know how much of it is true.

So maybe that explains the delay in your bike and RED specially has a significant waiting.

I have booked mine in black color...lets see if it gets delivered on time

By the way its nice knowing a fellow TNT owner from Delhi.

                    Lets catch up some day

                    Congrats again

                            Congrats Sanket for the bike.

I went to the DSK dealership in Hyderabad yesterday and test rode the 300 first. Honestly, I did not feel a lot of power. i ride a ZMR currently and definitely wont upgrade to this bike. While the bike might be good for city commuting, it will strain itself on the highways. Also personally i did not like the sound of its exhaust (it was an IXIL).

Then i rode the 600i with IXIL. Whoa! The roar is a music to the ear. You do not need a horn on this bike. Just twirl the throttle. The inline 4 is a beauty to ride. The tank is wide and i actually had could feel the difference after 300. I could not notice the clutch problems as some people had mentioned. I did feel that the wind blast will get tiring after a while and in the absence of an aftermarket wind shield I am skeptical for this bike. Though Sundar, the sales guy, did mention that there is a 600GT owner who can help me get one installed on 600i.

Then came the turn of 600GT. And it IS plush. It was like sitting on my sofa. I turned on the bike, but disappointment on the exhaust note after the 600i. Though, it was expected. It was a very sedate ride even though I could manage speed north of 100 on the TD, didn't feel enough excitement in the bike. It is a tourer in purest sense. Made to munch mile without letting your arse feel any of it. If you want to tour, this IS the bike. Period.

So there are 3 GT delivered in Hyd, and approx 14 600is. He mentioned that as soon as there will be 50th bike delivery, they will do an event.

So where am I? The OTR price in Hyd for 600i is 6.5 which is a bit north of what I was expecting. I know that if I am going to buy an upgrade now on my ZMR, it is the 600i, but right now it is a mind vs heart game. My heart is trying to explain my mind that it is ok to spend on the bike.

Hey if your budget doesn't allow the 600i you can go for the 300. The top speed recorded is 176 km/ph on the highway (follow the TNT 300 ownership thread), so it has enough power to munch miles. In the city, though it is one of the smoothest higher capacity bikes, yet the engine feels strained. Its real strength lies on the highway. Own one but yet to explore the true colours as the engine is still in run in mode. Cheers.
