How do you prevent vandalism? Or unnecessary attention.

Do you have access to a secure, lockable parking?
how to avoid unneccessary attention - one down and zoooooom out of the scene !

yes I bring my bike to work, have a full secured parking there.

I came across 2 Benellis in SUPERBIKES IN BANGALORE FB forum for sale, one is Benelli 600i red, which has done 3000 on the Odo quoting 5.6L and another Benelli 600 GT, which has done 2500 on the Odo quoting 5.9L. My question is how genuine are these sellers if they really are, and if so, why buy a bike which is so new, launched within this year and already decide to sell it off without any problems in it, as both of them have mentioned that they are upgrading to a higher capacity one...something fishy!!

I wouldnt say so. 600s are a perfect middle ground for riders to upgrade to while understanding their capabilities and actual requirements. Some upgrade to a 600 thinking that its a stepping stone to bigger litre class bikes and then realize that they dont need 200bhp in the real world. Some upgrade to a 600 and find that they are easily able to manage 90 bhp and can handle much more. Like the 600i rider who has mentioned he is upgrading to a bigger Benelli. Its a natural progression. On the other hand, some buy big bikes and then find out they dont need a big bike at all. I know of one rider who sold his FZ1 and is now waiting for the Versys.

That said, I dont know either of the gentlemen who are selling their Benellis on that FB group and these are just my observations of the Indian motorcycling market.

I completely agree about upgrading to a bigger bike, but why in a span of 6 to 8 months of buying a mid-sized superbike already is my question, cause believe it or not, until the Benelli made an entry on to Indian shores, I had not thought of upgrading my 3-year-old Honda CBR 250R, even though its my opinion, but how can one feel the need to upgrade to a bigger bike so soon is something hard to understand.

He he.... I have seen people exchange their relatively new Ducatis for Beemers, so some rare persons like those do exist.

Guys, how to increase the low end torque in 600i. Can I tune the existing Factory fitted ECU to have better low and mid range. Can this be done in service center (I don't think the mechanics are aware of this). But I think I need to replace the ECU with a custom one. Also do we need to splice the wires or just plug and play the custom ECUs. Please share your thoughts

Check out Race Dynamics in Bangalore, they have piggyback performance ECUs.

Thanks. I have messaged them about it. Also I see in their website that the ECU module is still pending for Benelli and few other bikes. Let me see whether they reply

Only the pune workshop has the ECU mapping software but they are not allowed to do it as the bike then becomes illegal as per ARAI regulations. Other service workshops can only flash the ECU for any errors.

Custom ECUs are mostly plug n play, inline four customs india have it in stock i guess, do check.

No workshop in world will be allowed to change whts written in ECU by company .
Workshops have reader devices and limited access to ECU wherein they can read and clear codes and switch on and off some features of the vehicle.

Also tuning an ECU is not reciting a nursery rhyme , one wrong value punched in by user can kill an engine faster than you can say Flash!
So how do you know what to change and by how much even if you have a device that can flash the ECU .
Even if someone told you what to change in the fuel and spark map , gains will be hardly 10% at best since power output is a function of hardware not software .

Dats what i said they are not allowed to do so and the others can only clear errors/reset. As far as having the ECU remapping software at Pune, i was told that by the Benelli North india service head, dont know whats allowed not allowed in rest of the world.

Also, I aint no ECU tuner buddy, just read on a FB page that inline4cutoms.in have ECU remaping kits in stock, they might be knowing what they do...rest is upto the owner.

They aren't as qualified as you see in US websites like rideapart and motorcycle USA. Complete ECM kit are safer than flashing the stock ones. Also these are bikes, not the Brian O Conner Nissan Skyline /GTR which can be tuned up to a 100+bhp just by remapping.

I don't think the service guys in Benelli or any other manufacturer are allowed to poke around the ECU. Depending on what you are running you can get a specific map which is approved from your manufacturer. So say you have aftermarket exhausts from Benelli, then they should tweak the map on your bike to run with the new exhausts. The ECU on your bikes also log information as to how the bike is doing, if there are any error codes it will log that too. So that next time when you check it will have all the data which you can retrieve.
Your hardware is equally important to get more gains. But you can also get aftermarket products which piggy back onto the existing ECU. Something like a PC5+Autotune or a Bazzaz Zfi. These will also look into your AFR to give you better results.
Don't download maps over the Internet hoping for them to work. There are a lot of factors at play here. The air quality outside, fuel quality etc. Mapping is a tricky business and unless you know what you looking for its better to leave it to the experts.
