Bad things just creep in always when you least anticipate it.

My bike got submerged under 5 feet deep water here in Chennai due to heavy rains. Unfortunately the day before I had to vacate the house and left the bike behind thinking to pick it up that evening. God had other plans for me looks like so. Now the beast is in service station for the last 3 days, waiting for damage assessment.

Hope to get things right soon

Sad to hear man but I imagine that bike to be like a boat with the high under seat exhaust. Lol [emoji12]

I was expecting the same, at such height, i thought it would be safe, But when I pushed the bike trying to load it on the tow vehicle, it was pissing water .

Better to be in a mess and covered with muck than breathing it out though the engine. Take care of your bike. Hoping to get it by next week.

It was not about the parking space or anything here, They had broken the lake bed to save their home. So, the water level had risen considerable over 4 feet. The entire area was cut-off from city access and no one could come in or go out. They had to move people out of their home through boats. That was the state of damage here.

I just received the quote from the service center guys. Damage limited to 18k .

Since bike doesn't have any physical damage, I wonder whether insurance will cover it. All they are doing is dismantling the bike, checking the wiring for any water, drying it out, changing the front headlights and tail LEDs, spark plugs, checking the sensors, changing some bolts that are forming rust, cleaning the radiator, coolant change, oil change, filter, air-filter, brake oil and brake changes.

Main cost here is the labor, costing me the most of that amount.

I have learnt a good lesson now. Never leave your bike behind anywhere for any sh*t reason.

Sorry to hear that man. Did you try starting the bike? Once my 220 got submerged, it tipped over due to loose soil and was submerged in three feet of water. Later I just dried my bike and it worked fine.

I feel the only thing that could be affected would be the ecu? Why all the other changes? Generally all the oil chambers are air tight.

Btw you can claim insurance, it will fall under natural calamity clause. People generally claim it when things are totalled.
                          Regardless, Life shall go on.

No buddy, I didnt start the bike, the moment I turned on the key without knowing the water has seeped through, immediately turned-it back off after seeing the tacho display.

There was so much pressure, the water seeped through the exhaust port and into the engine. The svc guys sent me a video in whatsapp showing the water draining from the engine bolt. When they unscrewed it, it was spewing water. Such is the damage, I had my 2nd service lined up anyways, hence these changes also added up. So saved a bit of labor there . Hell, even the headlight was filled with water.
