Are you properly slotting the dogs? I usually experience this when I do a lazy shift and miss to drive the dogs all the way home.

Give it some time for the engine to bed in. New bikes usually have harder gear shifts which require a bit more pressure applied to get them slotted well. This is apart from making sure your clutch cable is adjusted right and has the right freeplay. Mildly pressing the lever sometimes can induce, misshifting or grinding from the gearbox, which is a sign that your gearbox is not slotting in well and is trying to slot between the two gears gears which causes grinding. Good morning Friends, I m experiencing a problem with my gixxer sf 2016 model. Serviced recently. Changed chain sprocket, rear disc pad, front disc plate. The problem is whenever I apply the rear brake at slow speeds,the rear disc sounds like it's scratching very hardly and makes heavy noise. It particularly happens at low speeds. I went to service centre but they did check and told me to change the disk plate without even checking it properly. Reading on odo stands at 16000kms. Should I change the disk plate? Or what may be the solution?

Also are you sure its rear disc brake making that sqeuking noise as normally only the front one does but when riding you will feel that sound is coming from rear side, so observe it carefully.Last edited by kuulbhaskar; 02-28-2019, 09:53 AM.

Since you got the pads changed, it needs to bed in properly. Ride for a few kms more and remove any embedded contaminants from the pads and see whether the noise disappears. If they are suggesting you to change the rear brake rotor, ask them to show the reason why? If they are not able to give you a proper reason then send a complaint to Suzuki directly, stating that your SVC is conducting fraudulent activity.
Also make sure that you are not dragging the rear brake and get the rear brake line bled and adjusted.For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

I told them to drive and check the bike and after a drive, they told me to ride for another few weeks for the new brake pad to bed in properly, also they did tell me to change the disc plate if the noise continues to exist.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostHow did your rear brake pads and chain-sprockets wear out with just 16000kms?

As normally if disc gets bad it kind of get bluish color. If you dont have it than probably your disc are okay you just need to clean it using sand paper.
Just take a sand paper of 100grit and rub in circular motion on disc on both sides to form light patches and clean it immediately so that particles dont get between pads.
Try it and inform .

Not really, the rest of the options other than the last resort method are NOT well known. It might be well known on THIS forum but not outside this. You would be surprised to know just how many gixxer owners there are who simply panic without thinking about the situation calmly. The Indian mentality unfortunately hasnt migrated properly. I really hoped that you showed how to open the panel and apply gasket.
I dont do DIY repairs, its not my field of expertise. Either get it done at the SVC or a local mech. To me thats much easier, quicker and cheaper. I have good relations with my SVC so they will do small things like that FoC.

Hi Guys,
I am not in India. I like this bike and this is within my budget. I had gone through several pages of this thread. I'm looking to buy the faired one. Got only 1 option here - carburetted, no ABS, both disc brakes. Checked at the dealer and they said, it is the 2018 model. What difference can be noted in the 2018 model compared to the earlier ones ?
Someone in this country posted the following pics in facebook, he bought one from a dealer, came home and found the welding to be crap. He returned it. Does all the bikes have the same quality ?
