Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread

    MRF RevZ is my stock tyre and there is still decent amount of tread left as I've only run 25000 kms. The only reason I am thinking of changing the tyre is because it tends to puncture a lot and I've had more than 8 punctures in the last 2 years and there are still 4 that need to be plugged.
    I thought of CEAT Zoom because someone told ne that it is a harder compound tyre and hence doesn't get punctured easily but comes at a slight cost of road grip.

If you can order online, go for the Michelin or Apollo H1. H1 is a medium compound and will offer better grip compared to Ceat or Michelin. But Rev Z would be my personal preference among the lot.

      When you buy a bike like that, consider grip to be an important factor. 8 punctures in 2 years isn't bad. I must have far more than that. And who says that hard compound tyres don't get punctured? They have their fair share of those. You could try TVS Eurogrips (if budget is your concern) or MRF Zapper S. Zapper costs as much as a Ceat Zoom but performs better than it. If you can shell extra bucks, go for the Apollo Alpha. It gives excellent grip. Personally tested a set of Apollo Tyres on my bike (Actizip & Actigrip; F &R).

        I'm not saying that harder tyres don't get punctured, all I am saying is that the MRF RevZ is more susceptible to punctures. I'm saying this because mine got punctured even
        I don't want to change the tyre size, that's why I opted both Apollo or Michelin out.
        I've crossed Changla with both tyres flat (not bragging btw [emoji14] ), so I think I can make it work with the lesser grippy CEAT tyre if it offers better durability and puncture resistance.
        I didn't know TVS offers 140/60 tyre, so will have to do some digging on it.

          I recently changed both front and rear tyres to Michelin Pilot Sporty. After the installation i feel vibrations in handle bar as well as right foot peg and brake pedal. Also when I start and move the bike, I feel a slight wobble.

          Michelin has 140/70 - 17 tyres for rear. Does that make any difference? Never experienced this much vibrations before in my bike. Front tyre is 100/80 - 17, which is fine. Appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks.

            Hi guys, i just wanted to know if its possible to reduce the pillion seat height and raise the handle bars a little to get a better sitting posture.
            Let me know if anyone here has gotten it done and the handling and structural integrity isn't compromised.
            I like to meditate a lot.. On my BIKE!

                  This might be a mild contact issue at the clutch lever. This was a bit annoying and even embarrassing at times, especially when I'd kill the engine whilst at a long red light and the bike would refuse to start after.

                  Solution? I'd just release the clutch lever a little bit and the starter would kick in as usual. This issue does creep in occasionally, I always lightly release the clutch and ride on. Try this and see if it helps.

                    Hi guys,
                    Facing a handling problem in my Gixxer SF.
                    The bike is 2 years old (2017 FI ABS edition)
                    October 2019, I was on a trip when the right fork oil seal broke and oil oozed out. I was 200 kms away from home on rural roads at night and no nearby Suzuki assistance.(I don't trust local mechanics especially unknown ones l, I'm never going to see again probably). So, I drove back home with the broken oil seal and left it at the service centre the next day. The guys took 4-5 days for the entire service (she was due for a general service also) and when they handed the bike back to me, I noticed the bike slightly leaning to the left. I've done 20K on this bike and this was the first time I'm feeling it. On informing the service centre guy, he told me there was nothing wrong with it. Thinking to be my gut, I drew out of the centre and tried the highways for a speed test. I couldn't handle her at all. The handling was bad. Returning to the service center and talking with the manager, he told me he'll loosen the forks, this helped for maybe 5 KMs and then the issue started again. I complained again, the Manager rode the vehicle and told me it was absolutely fine and no problem with it. I asked a few of my friends to try it, thinking it was me who had a feeling at it didn't exist, but all of them told me it did. I asked the Manager to take it in for service again and that I'm ready to pay for the changes but he insisted that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and there was nothing he could do to change it. I've driven another 1000 KMs now since the service and the issue hasn't been rectified.
                    Also I noticed my right arm paining after the service, even while riding normally. I haven't changed my posture or my handling of the accelerator. And the bike pulls at times when you brake.(air pressure is normal, there's no puncture in the wheels). Also the corners are tougher to take now.
                    Looking for some tips here.
                    Below is the list of the spares that were changed:
                    1.Fork oil(both sides)
                    2. Right fork seal
                    3. Entire chain and sprocket kit
                    4. Air filter
                    5. Front brake disc
                    6. Rear hub shock absorber(something to do with the wheel, couldn't understand exactly)(if someone could explain would be much obliged)
                    7. Front wheel(done outside the Service Center with a reputed tyre showroom.
                    I'm based out of Chennai and go to Maya Suzuki at Adyar, I like them for their service so this comes as a shocker to me.
                    If someone could point me in the correct direction of what should be done, I'd be really happy.

                            2 days before i have changed the front sprocket and swing arm bush. After the work, in meter console the speed fluctuate too much. It's actually 4km difference. For example when i going in 55km/hr suddenly it will show 51km/hr.. then it shows 55km/hr. And this cycle continues throughout the ride. To fix this today i have cleaned sensor area inside the front sprocket box . But the issue not resolved. The front sprocket was the same 15t.

                              Hey guys, help needed.. From couple of weeks I'm facing an issue with my Gixxer's(2016 model) front break.

                              It is jamming the front wheel, and hence the wheel is not spinning freely.

                              I got it checked with my local mechanic, he removed the break assembly applied some oil and re-assembled it back, which then resolved the issue, but again the problem started after 2 days.

                              Average has also become very less, around 27kmpl prior to that of 37kmpl when brakes were fine.

                                Check with SVC, you may have to replace the pads or the disc.
