Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Dont tell them that they dint topup oil in the last service. They wont buy it and you are 700kms late. Theres no way to know engine damage unless its opened up. It will need an engine overhaul. This will be covered under warranty if the SVC is convinced to do an overhaul.Originally posted by sandeep.biswas View PostSo guys.. A tragedy happened.
I took my bike for the third service, and guess what.. They forgot to put the freaking engine oil!!!!
The most important thing they do is to change the oil, and they didn't do it.
To top that up, myself being an idiot and trusting their job, never checked for the engine oil, and rode almost 700 kms like that. I had engine heating issues, engine shut down on hard braking, and i was very confused as to why this stuff is happening.
Then i had a drastic drop in mileage, and by chance my eye caught the engine oil window and i was devastated to see it empty.
I was hoping that i had an oil leak coz i didn't want to believe that i rode 700km like that, but i took it to a local mechanic and he did put in oil and gave me the dreaded news that it is not a leak, svc guys mistake.
Now after a week of refill, the bike is smoother than ever before, but mileage has dropped too low.
I have done 5800 km on the bike, 9 months old. Please let me know what should I do now when I go to svc for next service. What all checks i should ask them to do for engine wear?
If there is damage, will the warranty cover it?
Any help will b appreciated. Thanks!!
PS : As motul oil was not avlbl, the mechanic suggested shell 20-50 oil. Since, it is summer i took his advice. The bike feels smoother and gear shifts are better than before now.For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

Bro make a complain to svc workshop manager and leave a complaint email to suzuki india too. These svc guys are one of the most careless guys i've ever seen.Originally posted by sandeep.biswas View PostSo guys.. A tragedy happened.

Best get your bike serviced from a trusted n skilled local mechanic . I been gettin my bike fully serviced (all dissasembled, serviced n assembled), ever since the free services are over.
The service after every 3.5-4 k kms. The service is so damn good that i can run my bike upto such kms.
Svc Paid services....they do nothing. Every bolt n nuts n fairing gets loose kms after kms the bike runs...they just dnt seem to care. Svc just gets the works done in hurry and many of my frnds too faced probs with their carelessness.....

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
An engine that has been run on very low oil and with the temperatures reaching so high would have induced the bike at the "seizure" zone. Now that you've ridden 700 kays, I presume the engine oil might have severely low that caused the engine to heat up. It's was just a ticking time bomb. Since you haev mentioned your mileage is too low, I'd suggest you check your engine compression and also the condition of the piston and the cylinder. Also do get your carb retuned.Originally posted by sandeep.biswas View PostSo guys.. A tragedy happened.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Suzuki manual says engine oil to be filled 850 ml with old filter and 950 ml with new filter. Is this correct. Do everyone follow the same.
My moron mechqnic poured 850 ml with a new filter, and maintained to the level mark. Is this safe?
Am using motul 7100

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Follow what the manual says. SVC mechanics dont follow the manual for some reason. You have to remind them or sometimes argue with them for such things. Get it filled upto 950 or 1000.Originally posted by presidency View PostSuzuki manual says engine oil to be filled 850 ml with old filter and 950 ml with new filter. Is this correct. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hi Guys,
Yesterday, the gear on my got lock and I'm unable to shift any gear(i.e) I can't put either 1st or 2nd gear. After checking with local mechanic, he suspects the spring on the gear lever might have loose or damage, but he is not sure. But for today, the problem is okay. I'm able to shift gears but actually it is very hard. Shall I leave the issue as it is or need to check with mechanic or SVC. I changed the oil in Feb and bike has run only 1117 Km. Any advise?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Means pilot chin headlight and indicators is easy. No need to remove fairing. You can see many videos on YouTube explaining the same.Originally posted by Navk View Postcould you explain how it was actually done, bro?
For the LED strip inside the cutouts beside he main light, you gotta remove the fairing. I did it from a local shop. Means they stick the LED strip with the provided sticker, and the wire they get through the fairing. There's no gap okay, but somehow when you bolt the fairing parts on, no issues. The wire doesn't get cut. I'll take pic of the LED strip and the wiring and post here. You'll understand.
